Compression ratio of vehicle also matters. I came to know that higher octance fuel is good for Engines with 12:1 or above compression ratio.

Ha ha ..The point is high comperssion ratio engines that ratios above 11 the higher the octane value give the optimum combustion ie avoid early combustion. So BS6 fuels have 91 octane number but blending of ethanol changes the entire picture. So in XP95 ethanol blending ratio is E5 to E12. So octane value improvement is from 91 to 95 rather than from 89 to 91 achived by ethanol blending E10 to E15. Actually Indian Government is cheating the public.

Are u sure about this? its always recommended to put fuel what company specified. If a car design for normal fuel will show no change if premium fuel is used. Ecu need to understand its premium fuel and how to effectively burn it ?.
I am sure about it...but the burning will be more effective when you are using a premium fuel..
@@MGATEXPLORE The higher the octane number, the more compression from the piston the gasoline can withstand before igniting in the engine. Not sure about effective burning for example Duke 390 has a higher compression engine compared to Duke 200 so it's preferred to put premium fuel in Duke 390 . In 200 premium fuel won't make any changes.

Also, there won't be any fuel efficiency gains either. Having said that, it's absolutely okay to fill premium fuel on normal vehicles. I am speaking fact and would request you to counter-check with experts in the field.
