There are two ways to profit from high yield dividend funds. One is to DRIP, so you bring the average share price below the market price and increase the share count as time passes. Another way is to buy and just collect the dividends until it surpasses your initial invested amount. After that point, every dividend payout is basically free money. In both scenarios, the key is not to spend your dividend payouts. Don't go spend all the dividend payouts and whine about nav erosion.
There's a third way! Swing trade the high-yield dividend ETF between distributions, use only swing trading gains to accumulate shares (i.e., always take out the money used for swing trading, thus protecting capital), and then let shares accumulated from trading gains DRIP to buy more shares. this funds are not growth funds , they are income funds, therefore if you get some growth that is a bonus, as you should know it is about the option that the fund manager write in order to generate income and that is what they pay out, so if you get your ROI back within a year or two then it is house money no matter what the share price is
You can't retire off of MSTY, because eventually the volatility will go down, as MSTR moves up the ranks, but you'll be able to make money for a while until that happens.

Okay so I just got a 3000 dollar dividend from MSTY but I LOST 10,000 on the share price. That is the problem with all theses high dividend ETFs. In the longer run you will end up losing money. I'm done with MSTY and the other covered call funds. What I am now doing is swing trading MSTX. I made 8000 on it today. I'll probably sell it next week.
You need to listen to Warren Buffet, you don't lose or gain money until you sell, that is when you realize a profit or loss. So with your dividend payment of 3000 you made a profit as long as you didn't sell your shares.

You are absolutely wrong. Your problem is that you got in at the top. Had you gotten in months ago, you've had made back ALL your initial investment and then some. I have MSTY and CONY plus about 6 other high dividend etfs. I think they have done well just not perfect for income if you are taking distributions. However, they do grow your account as long as they don't lose too much Nav. And part of the yieldmax plan is to get you to keep reinvesting back into the funds. There is no guarantee in "stocks" either some companies have better earnings than others but that doesn't always mean the stock will go up. Think Nvidia they beat earnings and revenue, but the stock still went down because it wasn't enough.
Watching this is one of the worst waste of times Ive done in a long time...clueless on all the catalysts driving Bitcoin, which drive MSTR, which drives MSTY. MSTY rocks because of volatility of MSTR. Options make money in up or down markets. I've much more than doubled my money, and just got paid over $20K AGAIN this Friday....Yieldmax is amazing.
Most people will use premiums to buy these dividend stocks ... if u sell options u buy shares of monthly dividend stocks then u sell covered calls on tbise shares also... u keep collecting and adding dca all with part of the premiums u collect. So ull end up with monthly dividend + covered calls premiums on the same shares + ull still have all ur initial investments + all the extra premiums u dont buy shares with... it can work but under those circumstances

How is MSTR shareholders' pie getting smaller when Saylor is stacking BTCs with all that money!!! If anything the pie is getting bigger & warmer!! And with per share increasing BTC value, that same pie will look humongous when BTC is hovering around $220k & then $400k in next 4yrs. MSTY is a different matter altogether especially when the price has gone to 40, 3 separate times & have seen 50%, 30% & 26% pullbacks.

MSTY have not gone through a bitcoin bear cycle yet, hard to say what it will do in a 4 year cycle. I suspect their strategy would not generate as much premium during a bear cycle, that may cause people to sell out of their positions which drops the share price. However, bitcoin cycle comes back and the share price will eventually go up again and the cycle starts over. Question is does the fund have a strategy to wither the bear cycle? If so, a 5-10 year investment time horizon might pay off big. Say you manage to accumulate 50k shares over 5 years. When the next bull cycle comes around, that could be something. Now whether or not the fund will operate that long yet to be proven.
Past performance, through up and down markets - both, is a relatively good indicator of future performance. Of course, just relying on data from bull markets is foolish. Speaking of past performance, Donnie will absolutely not do what he said. 4 years of terrible track record.

I don't know what they're average share price is, but for simple math let's just say it's $30 flat. So that would give them 13.3k shares! And based on the last div of $3.08 per share their incum this month would be $41k. I mean, not $84k by far but if we lower the average share price to $20, that gives 20k shares, and then based on last div, their incum rises to $61k. Now to be clear, I'm not saying it's a smart thing to do. I wouldn't do it at al. But the math can get you there if you are a big degenerate. lol Their math was probably based on last month's div, where it was at $4.

I like QDVO out of the option based etfs. Seems risky but more reasonable than MSTY. I just don't like QDVO doesn't have much volume yet.
