I'm a true degen I own MSTU and MSTY I swing trade MSTU into MSTY and then I also do Covered calls on MSTY once I get to my core number I will buy MSTR since I have done this strategy im now as of writing all time up 183%.
I have done the same , i have a few thousand shares of msty, i drip into the underlying at about 50% i use 25% to pay bills and 25% reinvestment . To date i now have 37 shares of MSTR , 150 more shares of msty I am up about 138% this year and dont have any bills. I would have done better just doing the asset but i like the dividends . I do have a growth and ladder income portfolio as well as a Roth and deferred comp. I just wish i had a few years of age to grab my pension and run😂
On 8/26 I decided to move 25% of my mstR (R) to mstX (X) and simply hold the X through this 2025 bull run. I do rebalance, however, when the X portion hits 32%. On up days the average factor achieved by X has been 1.76. whereas on down days 1.81. This bleed shows the risk of holding in a bear market. The higher the daily swings, the more likely the factor is to approach 2.00. Overall this 25%/75% allocation target has provided a 20% boost in growth compared to just holding R.

But I am now a whole coiner. I already own MSTR and MSTU. I am going to buy MSTY and then ALSO take advantage of selling the options on MSTY. Doing that should help to add to the gains of owning just MSTY by itself. What do you think about that strategy? It’s incredible that there are options on an options ETF! That didn’t exist for most of my trading life.
Congratulations on being a whole coiner thats a great accomplishment. I just had a look at the options chain on msty. It doesn't look like there are many dates of expiry to choose from. Is that concern for you with your Strat? I'm also not seeing a ton of volume but I didn't look too deeply. Would that be an issue for you too?
Agreed - the volume is thin and there are few dates available. However, it seems that it will still increase the yield another 15%+. Is it worth it? I will try it for a few months and see. Not many strike prices either, and I would rather sell further out of the money, but you get what you get. In the past, I have had some luck requesting additional strike prices. If the volume was higher, the exchange would likely list more.
Excellent update as always, i like how you simplify it. One more point is MSTY might have principal decay since it pays out dividend. Have you thought about selling cash secured puts? I have found that to be safer as well
Yes I did forget that, good catch! I don't sell cash secured puts because all my mstr is in registered accounts that don't allow that, but that could be a good way to earn income and gain good entries.
love the in-depth work you're doing on MSTR. Couple ideas for future videos - (a) how specifically are the convertible bond MSTR holders taking short positions to hedge their investment? i've heard this but i cant seem to understand how it works as i would think that taking a short position could result in a loss that would exceed the value/profit of the bond...(b) i've also heard that in Q1 2025 MSTR are changing to fair value accounting which means they'll be able to claim the appreciation of all their previous BTC buys as profit...which means their Q1 results could see them reporting a 11B or higher net profit...if true the visibility that would come to what they're doing could result in a higher multiplier on the street (currently at about 2.5X to new assets)?

I guess I shouldn't send non kyc bitcoin into the same wallet that has been receiving bitcoin from Coinbase....? will I need to setup a bitcoin node in order to buy non kyc bitcoin or am I wrong about that? still trying to figure things out..
You would definitely not want to send it to a wallet you already use as that would defeat the purpose as it would identify you. It's best practice to run your own node to increase privacy, you could also use a hardware wallets software that uses Tor although the hardcore bitcoiners would probably frown at that. Best to research further. BTC sessions has lots of good stuff. Could also book a call via my discord and talk with me about it
i was reading into levered derivatives like mstu, its mostly futures they use not options i think ( i realize msty is different) ....also everyone talks about the expenses and i know that it matters in the long run, compounding wise, but it is only 1.25% apr
I guess I’m confused on why you’d buy a call and pay a premium instead of just buying spot MSTR with no premium? When you’re buying calls are you buying it to sell the contract later or just to exercise and purchase the shares?
You're paying a price for the contract that controls 100 underlying shares. That price is a lot less than what it actually costs to buy the shares themselves. Because of this it acts as leverage, so moves are amplified. People buy or sell options because they are extra bullish or bearish in a given timeframe. Most people buy to just sell the option later. Sometimes it makes more sense to exercise it and collect the shares though for tax purposes. Ultimately all options that are in the money are exercised by someone
I don’t know if this will help anyone. I was kinda starting to understand MSTU and MSTX and accumulated a little. Then MSTY was explained by Saylor and I decided to take a bet. The last 3 days were a roller coaster but because I have underlying MSTR and even further underlying btc (not in proportion) , it kinda felt that it all evened out. Let’s see next week, it’s probably going to be a wild ride, having heard that MSTR will acquire even more BTC in the coming days if they haven’t already on the weekend. What this means for MSTR is that my btc ratio per stock goes up. How that will affect the others, I have no clue. Quick question: if this is a 6 week risk ON play and then risk off… shall I be selling my MSTY by the end of January ? What of the others ? (Except MSTR)
Price per share of etf is not really an important part of analysis. Look at expensive ratios, liquidity, bid and ask spreads, and the ability of the fund to accurately do what they want to do i.e. be a 2x leverage fund.
@@bitcoinnotcrypto I noticed the tidal one went up like $17 to $100 on the same day the T rex one went up almost $20 to $161. So there is a difference in movement and neither of them are really 2x exposure anymore. That being said I think maybe tidal is more worth it because for the same money you are able to buy more exposure and I think it's not very likely we will see a $270 MSTR which would probably cause tidal to fold up
I'm pretty sure that MSTY does not own the shares nor do they exercise the options. They use a synthetic in their covered call strategy. Unless they changed their prospectus 🤷

It's only not advised if you are really bullish on mstr as the upside is capped as msty sells covered calls. You get monthly payments from Msty but they aren't exactly dividends. They are the premiums they got from selling covered calls on the underlying shares they hold.
I don't think so. Dividends don't make sense for any company really to do, it's tax inefficient, and there are better ways to increase shareholder value. I think eventually it will make sense for mstr to do share buybacks and this will have a similar effect to the Bitcoin yield Strat they are doing because it will increase Bitcoin per share.
They dont hold shares at all - they hold a longer dated call option and sell shorter dated calls. Also you should know the exact strikes and expires for the calls long and short - i feel you did very little research for this - the data is all available. Sorry!

The Combination of MSTR and MSTY works well. The others may work better but more volatile (MSTX & MSTU). Another great show by YOU!

Look at the expense ratios. They opened at different times. You don't seem to know how to analyze investments.
