@@JoaoFito I like this metaphor too, and I like your kind invitation, I'm in ! Give me just you adress, I come with french wine so we can drink while listening to BTS ?
We watched this guy play a couple weeks ago. He has two young ladies playing with him now so it was a three piece show. All three of them killed it. I mean killed it. Terrific performance.
That drummer (I feel bad I don't know her name) has a real Moe Tucker vibe. She was so understated but was hitting that kit super hard when things ramped up it was amazing! ( I saw that line up in August)
@@adamdemasi156I saw them open for Dinosaur Jr. in Vegas last year and Mel was really bringing the energy and Theresa was on point. It was a magical night.
Yep saw the 3 piece a month ago, was amazing. Lots of songs for 2 or even 3 guitars, I was wondering how Doug was going to play those. He nailed them, and the 2 ladies were great.
I'm a 29 years old that have never ever heard of this band, I heard in some netflix show, probably but I love it to death, and I think this is easy Top 1 or 2 of all the songs made from 2000-2030.
Deceptively simple drum groove but playing an upbeat bass foot line that consistent for that long ain't no picnic. Very easy to speed up the tempo or rush the snare or lose the pocket. Scott Plouf was brilliant on these albums and live and this drummer is killing it also.
Both songs were released on albums in 2006. The Kooks formed in 2004. Built to Spill formed in 1992. I think it's very fair to say there are some similarities between the two and that's almost certainly because BtS inspired the Kooks sound.
Highly recommend BtS' 1999 record 'Keep It Like a Secret', by the way. Definitely some Kooks type of writing in there, amazing guitar, and perfectly sequenced record. An all-time great and influential indie rock album.
I want to take these guitar tones and knit them into a warm, fuzzy sweater, then go for a long walk on a cold night.
knit one for me too, please! With a little bass in it...
(Also, I liked your metaphor so much that you are invited for christmas)
:(

one of the greatest songs of all time for me
This is just such a freaking cool song
These guys are freaking amazing, I’m kicking myself for never hearing of them before now.
this song means the world to me
Bliss. A favourite song for long drives
i was driving thru maine during a foggy, rainy night and this song hit my shuffle like a 10ton moose

Each guitar contributes much to the song in its own way. (Not always the case with many bands.)
Modest mouse is another great example of doing this

Guitar player on the right with that Archers of Loaf The Speed of Cattle shirt. Love it.
... the speed of cattle varies greatly. many extenuating factors. love from Texas ♡
I discovered this band last year and they really rock!!
pure genius what a sound they produce love it
This is the best built to spill line up IMO
Absolutely
I saw them in trio format two days ago and they burn.
I like Garth on the drums, party on dude!

Seen the REAL bts several times. Doug sings and plays with his eyes closed so much I feel he's in a trance.
the subtle change ups the drummer does in this song is so swift. Like at 2:18 and 2:23 that extra beat sounds incredible
It's called a diddle/double stroke. The drummer lets the stick ballistic-bounce twice off the head.
The drummer is spot on, perfect drumming, I wonder what he's up to

Loooooove the bass in this song.
this should have 10x the views...cheers
Me sorprende ver a las personas tan tranquilas, yo estaría como loca si pudiera escuchar esa canción en vivo.
Pienso lo mismo, tremenda rola

So good. Love these guys.
Live they were non stop holy shit . Just saw the new iteration a few weeks ago ,different but still smok'n !!!!!
Everyone has to see built to spill live
Ich war ein tag vorher in Berlin. Geiles konzert. Im November sind se wieder da. Hab schon karten
@ 5:35 ....love that part of the song a lot!
It’s definitely my favorite line of all time. Total bummer that Doug changed the lyrics here.
Grandiosa banda, suenan excelente en vivo.
Doug and Ben= a match made in heaven

Bet this sounded crazy irl
Hell yeah
The beginning of an epic era/line up for BTS!
Hahahaha!!!!!
About 6 & a half minutes in....... face melting commences
Why change the best line of the song :(((
Because people change, so do their views. God is a concept Doug had a long time figuring out. The alteration is far much better in my opinion.
@@bandname what was his view change? did he say somewhere
Does anyone know the chords he's playing in the rhythm guitar?
+Goldy's Channel He's not strumming the full chords, but the whole way through is just Bm and D.
Goldy's Channel Bm and D all the way, and eight bars of A at 6:16 :)

How to look like an average dad and still rock out to a sang you wrote 15 years prior.
1. Dress normally without a stylist on your staff.
A studio production might sound cool... but as this is... let's all get stoned and make some sort of song.
too psychedelic
NO WAY.
