I just purchased this last night from Target for $500 w free shipping. Got the NAMCO Pac Man cab last Father's Day as a gift from my wife- (yes, she's awesome!) I shortly after bought the Tempest cab, which I adore, and have been considering Ms Pac Man for a while, as I love it more than standard Pac Man. After some thought, youtube reviews and pricing, I went with this one. Great games, cab looks amazing and 1981 was a good year to be a kid for me! Thanks and can't wait for it to arrive!
Picked it up on sale for $449 at Kohl's plus they added in $90 of Kohl's cash to spend. The next day the Pac Man Legacy cabinet went on sale for $349, so I got lucky that the Class of 81 sale came first as it's a lot nicer cabinet.
It would have been nice if Arcade1Up would have embraced the 1981 theme and put Frogger, Qix and Ladybug on this machine since they were 1981 arcade titles, rather than make it another Namco collection.
It's funny, on other cabs, I thought there were way too man Pac-Man games, but on this one, I kinda wish there were at least one more, specifically Super Pac-Man. This is my only dedicated 4-way joystick cab. In a perfect world, this would have Ms. Pac-Man/Super Pac/Pac-Man, Galaga/Galaga 88/Gaplus, and then 6 other games. But I'm really glad there is a true variety of games to play on this machine. For someone who buys this as their only cab, they can mix it up nicely.

Great review PDubs! I’m a big fan of this cabinet too. And the light up marquee on mine arrived with damage also. I agree it’s the worst quality marquee A1UP has done so far.
I mentioned in 3rd Floors review that I'd like to see this in a cocktail cab form. Imo it'd look better being split art. Being born in 81 I kinda want this just cause. But holding out for the cocktail tho. To quote Judge Smails your review was Top Notch! Top Notch!
Just ordered for $449 USD after waiting a long time for a reasonable sale price. This will replace the older Ms. Pac-Man cabinet in the arcade - similar to what you did. I will probably get a replacement slip-on Marquee from Szabo’s - very cool option. Thanks PDubs!
PDubs, You know what's crazy? Arcade1up's Partycades are proving to be a much better value than their 3/4 Scales this year. I got the Ms. Pac-Man, and seriously considering getting the Galaga. If I got both, that's 20 games with only a couple duplicates across, definitely more than a Class of 81 or my Namco Legacy. Same great controls and same great monitors for around $400. And as I peeped before, THAT GORGEOUS light up marquee, THE BEST looking one Arcade1up has ever produced! You can even snag your fav, Super Pac-Man, and get the booties back in a smaller form factor :) The washed out marquee aside though, I'm glad you're liking the Class of 81 :) Oh, and I'll take Rolling Thunder over an unlockable Pac-Man any day :) vgv
Is there anyway to just keep things “in house” so to speak and have only your family and friends show up on the leaderboards without having to use Wi-Fi?
Every Game has its normal high score saving system, like Galaga has top 5 scores etc within the game. You only see the Leaderboards on the main menu. You can also not be logged in and not see that stuff
Mine had bad speaker/speaker cable and marquee issue - but I got it for 449 at kohls, now if I had paid 599….I would be upset. Arcade 1up needs to be consistent….I mean the marquees on the QVC partycade s are awesome!
If you want to change the buttons, do you have to do anything elaborate or is it as simple as replacing each button and plugging them back in? Thanks for the video.
no way...I missed this. It does have the Options to change Ms. Pac-Man to Fast Mod? that's been what I've been waiting for. How do you get the menu to change the options? guess I'll find out if I get it.
Can someone please tell me. Do these cabinets store high scores such as you can with emulators, or is it like the old skool cabinets where it wipes itself when you turn the power off? I am starting to look at 1Up now they are producing the deluxe cabinets with no riser, the thought of a more adult cabinet especially with that artwork is a turn on for me.
@@PDubsArcadeLoft Thanks for a very speedy reply, especially on a one year old video. I am even more interested now with local high scores. We are paying a premium in the UK for cabinets around $700 or more in your money. So when you moan about the price, thank your lucky stars lol

I would prefer more full sized cabinets of the classics even though this one does look nice but even when the actual class of '81 arcade came out I wasn't impressed by it back than. Guess that's what happens after you own a pool hall and arcade store.
I find it strange how this is the same price as the Big Blue when it has the same form factor as the previous Pac-Man cabs and it doesn't include a molded coin door or a stool. It honestly should've been the same price as the Namco Legacy ($450 USD) or max price at $500 USD when the only difference from the Namco Legacy aside from the games is the light up deck and leaderboards.
That is actually a dog hair from my dog - go back and watch it lol I didn't even notice it until you mentioned it. I have 3 Large Dogs - Hair is everywhere in my house.
That’s so annoying they didn’t include the Pac-Man unlock. The whole reason I wanted this machine because it’s the only one to include both Pac-Man and Ms. Pac-Man. They always keep em separate cause they know people’ll buy a another machine just for Ms. Pac-Man.
Paying $100-$200 extra for live vs the other form factors isn't a seller, but if the other versions sell out of stock, sure the pacman Galaga combo cabs are neat items. This is pretty far back on my list in terms of styling.
The problem is most people already have a mix of these games on other cabs. You just bought the galaga countercade.. so now you own galaga, galaga 88, and galaxian for the 30th time...

Sorry, I own three Arcade 1UP machines and this is the worst one I've ever bought and really the only one I've been disappointed in. The control input is extremely laggy and even after a replacement joystick from Arcade 1UP it's still not working. And yes, it's fully up to date. They keep closing my support tickets and telling me that the devs are aware of the issue but don't have an ETR. It's not an issue with the controller, it's the speed of the emulation. And I don't know what they're going to do to fix it. It makes twitch games where fast reaction time is a must almost impossible to play. You can see a visible lag between me moving the stick and the character moving on screen. Fast play Ms. Pac Man is impossible to play with this control input delay and Galaga is very difficult. Very disappointed and I do not recommend buying this machine unless you try it first and are okay with the speed of the input. I have played these games all through my childhood in the arcade so I know how fast the controls should respond, and this machine does not do it right. I feel like without a fix for this lag I kind of got ripped off. I'm glad other people are happy with theirs but it's virtually unplayable for me - maybe there's something going on with my particular cabinet. A few other people on reddit have reported the same issue, but others either don't have it or don't notice it. Good selection of games but it's very difficult to play with the input lag. 4/10.
Follow up on this: over the weekend I tried replacing the stick with a Zippy stick I had laying around and that seemed to improve the responsiveness but it still wasn't quite right. I still missed a lot of turns. It's kind of hard to describe unless you actually have played the original game and the Arcade1UP versions. I have a replacement Happ stick on order that is specifically made for playing Ms. Pac Man and recommended as a replacement for the original Arcade1UP stick that got some good reviews, so when that comes I'll install that and see how it goes!
Another followup: installing the Happ joystick definitely helped make the game more playable. There is still some lag in the control response, especially noticeable in Galaga, but it's no longer a physical issue with the joystick. It takes Ms. Pac Man (fast or slow mode) from virtually unplayable to not bad. Of course, there are other issues like the angle of the screen and the size/weight of the cabinet, but you know you're going to have that going into it, and I can deal with those. I would highly recommend replacing the stock joystick with a Happ stick made for Ms. Pac Man, you'll be glad you did.
