So that's who the Kosciusko Bridge in New York is named for!

This is what happens when someone is encouraged to love and protect their homeland, rather than taught to scream, rant, and wish for its downfall.

Poland was his homeland, where he died a hero there while begging for American help in his own revolution.
The Americans declined that help and raided that treasury he left for the slaves.

I beleive the battle they referred to is the battle of cowpens. The army was placed in a spot where they had no retreat having a river against at their back, while it protected their rear, when the American troops realized they had to either fight like hell, or be captured/killed, they fought harder and with more determination than ever, giving them the victory over a larger british force. Basically their backs were agaisnt a wall and had the choice to win or die, they chose to live.

I wish people would stop usuing the word decimate to mean total destruction.
It literally means to reduce by 10%

What a poor choice of spending money.

Yep. It was naive but, don’t worry - that money was stolen by colonists.
Kosciusko wasn’t done being a hero after he left America, though. He fought for Poland’s independence, too.
