Dragon ball meets Contra
I think a better description would be that this game is _Contra_ , _Dragon Ball Z_ , _Heavy Metal_ , _Battletoads_ , _Rambo_ , and the now-defunct Malibu Comics character Hardcase thrown into a blender.

This game is one interesting smoothie alright. I know North Americans get cheated out of video games from Japan all the time, but this is one game from Spain that I wish saw a North American release.
With the gore being a hint of Hokuto No Ken/Fist of the North Star

Gaelco was an underrated developer, so glad this games are finally emulated. This game summoned pretty much all the hot stuff among teenagers in Spain in 1994: Dragon Ball Z, Street Fighter II, Megadrive and tits. It only lacks football xD

Yeah, looks like she either went down with the ship in Stage 4 or mutated into the gargoyle boss and got killed.

This is from 1994. It is a fairly obscure game and wasn't even emulated properly until this year. There was also a game before this one called Thunder Hoop from 1992.

The characters are obvious Ryu and Ken rip-offs, but the remainder of the game appears firmly rooted in the 80s. There's the gritty dystopian vibe going on mixed with plentiful Frank Frazetta comic art. Edit: (Although I will be fair, a look back at the first game, and there was some initial design to draw from.)

Game is actually made by a company in Spain believe it or not. So chances are she's saying something in portuguese but butchered.

I used MAME 0.189. Which version were you using? I would have thought that a newer version than what I used would be better, if anything.

I just doesn't get much more 90s than this!
As for graphics this game is one of the best, as for gamplay it loses over the orginal, that had this sth, that made it soooo playable and unique.
Also it is way too short - I guess developer had run out of money and time, and had to release it as it is.
Check ot Dyna Gear if you want another (better) not known game that looks great and is way faster (more difficult too).

Now that I think of it, I never asked, did it really say missing chd? I thought it might say missing roms if you have the wrong one, but this game doesn't use a chd like some other games. Either way, to find this game, try typing thoop2.zip "4.72 mb". That should get you one that works on the new MAME.

I played it in MAME and seemed ridiculously easy. Too easy for an arcade game intended to take quarters from your pocket. Even in the hardest dificulty I reached the second stage boss in one life despite never having played it. Anyone knows if this was like that in the original or it's because of deficient emulation?
