Gundam is a hidden character in this game. He is an unlockable playable character in Vs Mode, but he cannot be used in the Story Mode.
When using him in Story mode, only the mech applies. The pilot remains as Heero Yuy (it's his story after all).
===== About Gundam =====
The Gundam or RX-78 is one of the most famous and original Gundam mechs, and Amuro Ray is one of the first and main drivers to pilot it.
Gameplay-wise, Gundam has good speed and average power. Because of his smaller size, his range can be a bit short. The second part of his Rising strike special move requires ammo, so if he is out out ammo, he doesn't project any beams.

This is a very good mech/robot fighting game, the 2D graphics are excellent and the sprites are animated really well. The gameplay is good, with chain combos and Cyberbots-style special moves. Due to the large sprites and high amount of animation, the game runs at 30fps.
The soundtrack is well-composed and is of the techno music genre, which is typical of what you would find in a Gundam-related mech/robot fighting game.

Fun fact: Wing Zero and Heero were added in the USA versions because Gundam Wing was about to be televised in the spring of 2000
That's why wing Gundam has the same moveset like Zeta Gundam. I thinkthey run out of ideas
@@ario8444more likely they didn't have the budget to make an entire new character for a late-PS1 game, making all the new character art (since the original had all original characters) probably ate the entire budget.

I’m surprised for how old the Rx-78-2 is, it’s able to take on a nuclear warhead like the GP02, although I’m not too surprised considering it’s only like 4 years later for when that thing was put into action

I honestly think that the PS1 was made for 2D games, they look much better than 3D games.
@@paranoiacronica8 Hhh no. It is incredible for 2d games dont get me wrong, definitely better than the fourth gen of consoles, but the console was actually made for 3d in mind. There is no dedicated 2d hardware on the console (not that it was 100% neccesary, as the 3d hardware on the PS1 was very powerful to translate the polygons into 2d).

Everybody's hard until Big Zam shows up. Like Char said, it's a mobile armor misused by Dozle Zabi.
As you might or might have not noticed, the RX-78 looks a lil' bit different from when it appeared in a sequel. This was the original depiction of the machine before it got the moveset and sprite update. For whatever reason, this and what I'm guessin' you'll be covering next, didn't get supers in this one.
How can i use that code for story mode ?

It is 2023 and my mind was trying to remember why the opening audio sounded like "GUNDAM BATTLE REPEL" and only now I realized it was saying Assault but the A and U were pronounced differently than usual
To me, it always seemed like the announcer was saying, “Gundam… Battle of Hell!” 😂
