The DS seems to essentially bitcrush everything, so the harsh digital sound is definitely part of things. There's also the likelihood of a specific scale being forced on everything you make, which means even random assortments of notes tend to sound at least acceptable.

warioware diy is legit how i got started making music. when it came out and i was like 10 years old, i knew i wanted to make electronic music someday but was terrified of ever using a DAW cause they looked so complicated. this game helped ease me into the concept of making music digitally and i may not be making music today if i didn't play it! so wonderful and nostalgic to see that you also remember its existence and are having fun making music the same way i used to spend hours doing. To me, they were just silly sounds that I ignored because they didn't seem to fit. Just goes to show how incredible Louie is at making music. Astounding to me that he can look at things I always ignored, like the alien scream, or even the CRICKET instrument, and make them feel like vital aspects of the song.

I remember having fun handling 6/8 songs with it, sorting out a 5/4 time must've been something!
I love how you're using the player's feature to complete the tracks and taking advantage of the looping and the sfx to use the beginning of some tracks as an outro.
