Sushruta's work and contrubtions were passed on and inspired Arab world and Arab Physicians. you know i am not a historian but I could tell you about my experience in my ancestral house. the video majorly talks about the city which I believe were more common in the south eastern part of india. We have an old house that is around 500 years old in the northwestern part of India (M.P.), and yes, most of the houses had an indoor courtyard. it did actually had large wooden columns which had beautiful carvings . we also had a small fountain(which sadly didn't worked today) . in the village there were many trees around which podiums were built for people to sit, when I was young I use to see elderly people sit there all afternoon and talk. more over my aunt house was like one of the largest house in the village with a ~4 story high cylo , it was really beautiful. but sadly all this luxaries were only common among "higher cast" and the houses of lower cast were small and in the outskirts. 😔😔

Sri Lanka was to India, what Korea was to China. Same Culture and People historically, But settled down in a different region, which was too far away and developed their own Culture, History and Civilizaiton. There was some influence of course even before Buddhism, But they had their own Unique Civilization identity.
India itself is a collection of many dozens of kingdoms and cultures. The difference with China is there is a dominant Han Chinese culture, while in India it is decentralised. In the grand scheme of things, the Sinhalese are just another one of these cultures who altogether form India. Think of it, Kashmir to Lanka, all of it is one greater civilisation.

China has a large majority of the same culture (Han Chinese), and this culture is representative of China as a state. For this reason, China also has ethnic minorities, like Machus, Mongols, Uyghurs and Tibetans, who are constantly oppressed and their cultures pushed aside in favour of the Han Chinese people. India does not have a dominant ethnic group. Kashmiris, Dogris, Panjabis, Marwadis, Mewaris, Gujaratis, Marathis, Tuluvas, Kannadigas, Malayalis, Tamils and so on are all separate ethnic groups that altogether are different cultures that make up India. The same way, Sinhalese people are not so special that they are much different from all these Indian cultures and ethnic groups. Look at the larger scale of things. Sinhala are people are just another South Asian ethnicity. India is a union of thousands of different South Asian ethnicities and the only difference is Sinhalese are not currently part of this Union politically. They definitely are culturally.

This is a common confusion. Maurya Empire was started by Chandra Gupta Maurya. "Gupta" was a Title here in his name, Not his name. It meant "Of Secret origin". The Timeline of Mauryas as accepted by Historians is 321 BCE to 185 BCE, With the decline of final king Ashoka who conveted to Buddhism and Empire broke up due to Ashokas heir not assuming King. Toilets and sewage are basic and common features in all ancient Indus Valley civilization cities. They were so greatly planned constructed and maintained that today's systems will appear inferior. But this video is about Indian cities between 500 BCE and 500 CE. During this time the knowledge of toilets is not that prevalent if I am not wrong. They might be a luxury. But sewage system is still existing.

The last grand city of ancient India was the Hampi the capital city of Vijayanagarm empire (which is from medieval period but had lots of ancient continuity). Which had all the qualities mentioned in the video and more.
Ancient India had the ideal population to land ratio. Sadly today our population is so high that our infrastructure is falling. Everything is over run due to massive population.
Sewage system was even there in India around 4500 years ago(read about Indus Valley Civilisation) but due to deurbanisation during late 2nd millennium it only survived in few places but eventually reestablished in early first millennium BCE in Ganga valley area during second urbanisation which eventually spread across India
So by around 2000 years across India cities had a much advanced sewage system and waste management far ahead of any other civilisation
But remember it all goes back to Indus valley civilisation

you know i am not a historian but I could tell you about my experience in my ancestral house.
the video majorly talks about the city which I believe were more common in the south eastern part of india.
We have an old house that is around 500 years old in the northwestern part of India (M.P.), and yes, most of the houses had an indoor courtyard.
it did actually had large wooden columns which had beautiful carvings . we also had a small fountain(which sadly didn't worked today) .
in the village there were many trees around which podiums were built for people to sit, when I was young I use to see elderly people sit there all afternoon and talk. more over my aunt house was like one of the largest house in the village with a ~4 story high cylo , it was really beautiful.
but sadly all this luxaries were only common among "higher cast" and the houses of lower cast were small and in the outskirts. 😔😔

The same way, Sinhalese people are not so special that they are much different from all these Indian cultures and ethnic groups. Look at the larger scale of things. Sinhala are people are just another South Asian ethnicity. India is a union of thousands of different South Asian ethnicities and the only difference is Sinhalese are not currently part of this Union politically. They definitely are culturally.

Maurya Empire was started by Chandra Gupta Maurya. "Gupta" was a Title here in his name, Not his name. It meant "Of Secret origin". it has definately downgraded a lot but most of these info aren't wrong...even if you go 70-80 years ago from now...the housing system, the courtyard houses, the market system are very much more managed than current times and is in a way similar to how it's said in the vedio....if you follow up with The Book of Courtesans: An Anthology of Classical Writings on the Courtesans of India or alka pandey writings....you'll see many similarities....as someone who was very connected to the rural part of india...(i stayed in my grand parents house for 4 years)....the housing and drainage is advanced for the time it was build in....the architecture is really old and hasn't been reconstructed in a long time...ANCIENT INDIA WAS MUCH MORE CIVILISED THAN THE MODERN INDIA...AND MOST EDUCATED INDIANS AGREE WITH THAT SO SOMEONE WHO HAS ONLY SEEN THE CURRENT INDIA IT COULD SOUND SKEPTICAL

Toilets and sewage are basic and common features in all ancient Indus Valley civilization cities. They were so greatly planned constructed and maintained that today's systems will appear inferior.
But this video is about Indian cities between 500 BCE and 500 CE. During this time the knowledge of toilets is not that prevalent if I am not wrong. They might be a luxury.

Separate bathroom? This might be a luxury. But bath area is common in every house, either it is mostly open area or open top room.
