Awesome! And yes we appreciate it. Great video, Adam. I have the APR intercooler on my car now, and the IE version in a box, I think I’ll do this same test when I swap.
Out of curiosity why swap from apr to ie? Apr intercooler has shown to hold great even on power levels of the tte710. Also comes with replacement piping and has shown to compete right with Wagners. Just curious on why the swap 🤔. I could understand if you were going from like ecs or cts which have lower performance.
@@headshotharry2313 I’m going to do a couple videos on it for my channel. Also, the IE intercooler has FDS, which should increase the ability to cool. I’d like to see if there is a difference and how much.
@@Vaguh now that's a very good video. Apr vs ie, is cost difference worth it. Also remember to say the apr comes with replacement piping. People will automatically assume ie is better because it's cheaper but doesn't have replacement piping.
Impressive improvement, even with the E85 likely helping to keep the timing higher as well. I imagine the timing improvement would be even higher on a 91/93 tune. I can't wait to upgrade my RS3 intercooler.
The only thing that was hampering the timing advance was the IAT's being too high. I would have to think the improvement would be the same or less on the pump gas tune because the timing advance of the tune isn't nearly as high in the first place.
Great video! I wonder if the larger intercooler restricts airflow to the radiator, it would be interesting to see the oil and coolant temperatures before and after the install. Cheers!

what is the difference between an intercooler from IE vs 034 vs APR or ECS? would they all be the same or does IE offers something better than the rest for this type of hardware upgrades? btw my IE stage 1 for my s4 b9 is already coming thanks to your channel! great stuff
They are all made differently, whether it is a bar & plate design or a tube & fin design. IE utilizes their FDS technology which allows it to flow incredibly well. As much as I can't speak to the performance of the other company's products because I have never used them, I have seen nothing but quality hardware come from IE and Uni. The other 3 companies, I can't say the same. Thanks for watching and congrats on your B9 S4 build!
Final question: it appeared that the clamps that came with the IE intercooler weren't tight enough, and you swapped them out?? I'm having one installed on my Audi next week...do I need to purchase different clamps? If so what size and type?
Excellent. I have a 2021 SQ5 . I just got the APR stage 1/91 octane tune and am planning on this upgrade in a couple of weeks. Just curious - do you notice turbo lag (from the additional volume between turbo and combustion chamber)?
Great vid. I would freakin love to go big turbo for my B9 S4 but it costs $5K on IEs website. Running 9's is CRAZY and straight supercar territory! Imagine pulling up to a 2022 C8 Z06 and simply blowing it away in a sleeper S4. Classic :-)
Hi Adam, also a van vity audi owner. Amazing to see so much cooling. "Cool" video. Question, That Intake Air Temp graph is strictly RPM and Temp? When you said at the end of the run the temp is at... I'm not sure if that graph is ploting temp against rpm or speed or something else. Thanks.
Great video Adam. I’m about to add a man upgraded intercooler to my B9 SQ5. Does your S4 have Audi pre-sense? If so, I am curious if you ever had to have it recalibrated after removing front bumper? I heard Audi charges several hundred to recalibrate.
Pre-sense uses a camera mounted behind the interior mirror, it’s only the adaptive cruise radars in the bumper. As these are located in the lower bumper grill on the B9 even with a bumper removal it doesn’t affect them. Even if it does it can be re-calibrated via VCDS.
@@Jackofspades11 I was under the impression Audi pre-sense was the ability of the parking sensors to activate the braking system which to my knowledge every B9 S4 has. What I believe you're talking about is referred to as ACC or adaptive cruise control. That is what the camera is that is found on the front grill of the vehicles optioned with it.
