  • FINALLY, a black buggy walk around video! Sorry about all the wind noise (if you've ever been to New Mexico, you know..)
    This buggy has a Protodie Powersports, Protolite rear end. Unfortunately the owner is trying to sell the business and not taking any new orders. Here is their website, detailed message about company status there:
    protodie.com/
    We hope to answer as many questions as possible about the Black Beast in this video. So sit back, enjoy, and listen to me say "um" too many times (sorry, nervous apparently)

    I noticed in your video you mentioned how you fixed the speedometer to the correct speed.. I have a buggy with a GSXR 1000 motor in it & I couldn’t figure out how to correct the speed.

      Robert Rogero I’ve recently learned a lot more about this.. You need to purchase a SpeedoDRD unit from 12oclockLabs, I’ll post amazon link in another comment. I will cover this in an upcoming video as I installed one on my GSXR 750 (not engine in this video) Their website makes calibrating speedometer super easy!

    How much does that thing weigh?

    • @AndyShear
      @AndyShear  3 роки тому

      Probably around 1000 lbs, not sure as we took it apart and built new frames. My new buggy weighed in at 1260 lbs.

      @@AndyShear I have a EDGE Hypersprint i would say it weighs around 800Lbs with the engine (GSXR750) Do you think running 12 tooth on the engine and 50 tooth on the axle would give me enough torque to pull the buggy? I do not have the room to run much more of a taller sprocket on the rear axle or i would jump up to a mid 60's tooth rear sprocket.

      @@FukTheGovernment465 nice! Edge has some cool designs. Gearing depends on rear tire size; Mark has 25” tires on the rear and a 12-57T sprocket and it has plenty of torque. I ran a 13-52T with 22” tires for a while, gears a little long but it worked. If you can only fit a 50T in the rear, you could try an 11T up front. My new buggy is running an 11-57T with 28” tires! You won’t find 11T for GSXR but the Yamaha FZ6 sprockets have the same spline count just require some sanding to match thickness. If you do 11-50T it is 4.54:1 gearing, compared to the 12-57T in this video at 4.75:1. As long as your tires are 25” or under it should drive fine! Check out www.gearingcommander.com it helped me a ton figuring this all out!

      @@AndyShear Thank You sir, this helped a LOT to get me close on gearing. I have new 26'' bear claws but the tire it's self only measures like 24'' tall with tread. I will try a 11-50 set up and see how it pulls since its not a super heavy machine. Yes i love my Hypersprint EDGE is the shit when it comes to buggy's. I like that my buggy is 3 separate units you bolt together so i can change anything easily if i ever wanted/needed to. I will check that link out thank you again Andy!
