GSXR Buggy: Protolite Brake Rebuild
Переглядів 739 місяців тому
The Wilwood calipers on Mark’s buggy saw a ton of abuse over the years. Time for some fresh ones while we rebuild the old ones! Protolite hubs and rear end cradle make this an easy swap. We completed the caliper install, did some valve adjustment, and cleaned the fuel system in about 3hr. Unfortunately Mark’s fuel tank and pump setup were beyond repair, and our pump was losing pressure during o...

Mark and I learned a hard lesson with the '08 GSXR 1000 platform. We starved rod bearing #4 3x in 2 different motors. From our research this is caused by oil starvation due to our use of the engine in a flat track style car. The oil slosh caused by the cornering forces must have caused a drop in pressure and damaged the motors. Back to the reliable '03 750 that never let us down! Follow along a...

Platinum Horse Trailer Bathroom Conversion Episode 3

The Finale! We finished (most) of the trailer bathroom conversion before the beginning of 2021 horse show season began. I am so thrilled with all the finish work Dad did, it really made this bathroom look like the original construction in the main living quarters. Mom did a great job picking materials to match as close we could, sourcing all the materials, and designing the window treatments. T...

Starting to look like a (bath)room now! The ceiling application went exactly as planned, much to dads enjoyment. This was a great project for my parents to immerse themselves in during the early months of 2021 while everyone was still isolated. We had a 3 month deadline before the first horse show, so Dad was able to take his time on all the finish work; his favorite!

I'm back! Its been a very busy year of projects; I've filmed them all, but failed to upload. Until now. At the end of 2020 my mom and dad bought their dream horse trailer. Only problem; no bathroom! My dad and I built a custom trailer interior when I was younger so we were confident we could add a bathroom if I could do all the plumbing and electrical. Watch us remove a mid-tack area and instal...

I blew up Marks GSXR 1000 (that bearing was on its way out 🤣) Mark went on FB marketplace and saw something he couldn't un-see... One quick trip to CO, and the rest is history! Mark is now the proud owner of a Hayabusa Sand Rail from Sick Sand (now Sick Fab in Las Vegas, NV). Previous owner built this mighty unit and sold it to Mark as a ready to ride sand rail. Awesome footage!
Omg
monitor air fuel ratios and knock (engine ping) , also oil T
Good suggestion! We’re changing out the oil pan as that’s probably the culprit; multiple companies make a special pan for this engine as it’s used in mini sprints. Prevents this very issue. Will definitely add some more sensors; what’s measured is managed!
I wish you guys could do a rail with my R1 motor
Those sound amazing!
What fuel pump assembly are y’all using.?
Stock GSXR pump in an aftermarket tank we got from previous owner. Not for long though! Look for our next video where we explain our entire fuel system, then upgrade to a whole new one!
Injectors clean easier reversing flow.. goes out inlet way better…
Makes sense, will continue to improve our cleaning method!
@@AndyShear also there’s a hidden filter on hayabusas not sure if it’s on any other Suzuki bike. Best to do bypass n external filter
What those rear shocks from
RZR XP 1000, they’re Walker Evan’s. Really nice shocks. Picked up all 4 used for a good deal, there’s plenty of these out there!
@@AndyShear great 👍
Hi, I’m looking this video and I want to ask about the ceiling and walls stick papers ?? Name of it ? And where did you buy it? Thanks
We got the wall fabric from Joe Anne, it’s just a pleather that matched the front of the trailer. The ceiling was a specialty trailer item. We used 3M adhesive, but some rolls come with their own like this link: www.recpro.com/soft-touch-rv-padded-headliner-ivory-50-wide-kit-includes-adhesive/
Fire, broskies 🎉. Can't wait to watch her climb.
Oh yeah baby this is how I feel when I get 6” off the ground on my 690😂
Heck yeah man🤘🏼
Sweet stuff
Both of your buggies are superb 🔥 Its been cool seeing them evolve. Any Idea on how to solve the oil starvation problem without a dry sump? I’m building a crosskart with a gsxr1000 k7 which is the same as k8 if I’m not mistaken. I know that the guys here in Sweden that race crosskarts put more oil in their engines. But they run 600 and 750 engines.
There are definitely solutions out there, we just decided to revert to what we know works. We also had a Gen 1 Busa in a sand rail that never did this, so that’s the power plant we will probably end up with. There’s plenty of companies that make modded oil pans for circle track sprint cars! Yoshimura even has one for the newer GSXR1000, there’s plenty of options for older years too. We also recommend adding an oil pressure gauge somewhere. The 1000 has the external cooler; ideal place for inline gauge. We never saw the oil light on the dash, but it definitely starved bearing #4 consistently. www.yoshimura-rd.com/products/gsx-r1000-17-21-mod-lite-billet-oil-pan
@@AndyShear didn’t know about those oil pans, I’ll look in to it. An oil pressure sensor with a really bright warning light might be enough for me. Thanks!
So bad ass. Where can i buy a buggy like this? I want a similar project but with a busa set up
Best bet is to find a used frame and modify. Check out Protolite Racing! They make an awesome drop in rear end cradles that allow you to bolt in different super bike engines.
Does the clutch hold up with all that weight?
Still running today! The poor warrior motor needs a top end tho 😅
hummmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Hi, how do you deal with the clutch, I have a gsx600f and I have already replaced three clutches?
You all did an Awesome remodeling project. I wish I had that kind of room, to add a bathroom. You are a Lucky Lady.
You
Whats the link for the reverse shfter I want to use the same one I built something just like this lol I know its been a while but hoping to get a reverse handle like you had, thanks!
Check out the barn kart videos, I ended up using a Clutch Master/Slave assembly so I didn’t have to do a manual linkage! It works really well, made a big o’l lever on the master and it pops right into reverse.
OK I will thanks so much buddy!@@AndyShear
Nice job guys bad-ass I got an 0304GSXR 1000 I was wondering if you guys could give me a simplified wiring diagram for buggy build I can't seem to get mine right
This is where I get all my info from: www.manualslib.com/manual/1286279/Suzuki-Gsx-R1000.html?page=545#manual
You didn't show any of the build?? Music is mental loud...
This was just the engine swap video about a year after construction! My buddy and I built the frames at the same time, I filmed my entire build here: ua-cam.com/video/gUA21EH8tkk/v-deo.html I’m sorry about the music! I suck at making videos, definitely noted for the future. In the meantime, turn on CC and mute me 😆
𝓟Ř𝔬𝓂𝔬𝐒ϻ 💕
Dude that looks so great! Nicely done!
You'll have to reinforce that rear axle so it dont bend. Check out Red Beards Garage he did a cage like reinforcement design...
I’ve seen his design! Not a bad idea if I keep the straight axle. We are planning to rebuild both buggies with reverse boxes and convert mine to IRS this winter. You’ll have to watch next video to see what happens to this axle…
Make more videos of your buggy! its soo niceee
So badass, that's been a dream of mine since I was just a kid !
Hey Andy I'm doing the same thing with my buggy and I'm trying to use a raptor engine 02 model and I am having problem getting spark everything checked out on my fluke for the ohms test I am trying to use a AC CDI box instead of a OEM CDI box just wondering if you might be able to help me out thanks a million sincerely Shannon Stabler
I can only suggest using OEM parts! Warrior/Raptor parts like this are cheap on eBay, my Warrior motor has many eBay parts!
Ohh and can you somehow get it street leagal
Did you use a third pedal for clutch?? And was that a Chinese frame off of a 150 or 200 cuz I know their metal doesn’t last to long have you experienced any problems with cracking in the frame??
Yes we made custom pedals, you should watch my drift buggy build videos! We build this whole concept from the ground up, this “bastard buggy” was a prototype piece of 💩 that needed to die sooner rather than later. The frame was hardly recognizable at this point after our structural enhancements. We chop it to bits in the barn cart build video! Would not recommend building off a cheap frame if you intend to keep it; we used this as a proof of concept then destroyed it. I have my buggy registered as a home built SXS in NM, will use a company like dirtlegal.com to upgrade to street legal here soon. This build series should answer a bunch of questions: ua-cam.com/video/gUA21EH8tkk/v-deo.html
@@AndyShear ohh ok I’ll watch them thanks I’m doing a vw build I’m using a different engine but I plan to do a gsxr 1000 first
@@maxprofitflips841 that’s a great platform! We have an ‘08 in our other buggy. Good luck on your build, can’t wait to see what you come up with!
@@AndyShear can you get it street leagal
@@maxprofitflips841 yes read up on dirtlegal.com I had a level 3 VIN inspection by a local LEO, and got a VIN from the MVD. Registered mine as a SXS first with on road tags here in NM, but I could upgrade to a Montana plate and corresponding LLC to get full street legal plate using dirtlegal website. I drive my buggy on designated roads for the time being. All that info is in the build series.
Hey so I I have a couple Questions
Awesome video and build
Love it brother
That's sick bro.!!
Hello friend I have a similar project I will put an engine of a suzuki katana 600cc I have independent suspension of a yamaha raptor,
Nice one but lot of unnecessary stuff on this video or less educational.
Absolutely! My video production kinda sucked back then, working to improve my new videos!
Hey Andy, is there any way to get blueprints for the build?
Unfortunately we did not model this build. Mark sketched out a design he liked based on multiple different frames we’ve seen. I copied his dimensions and altered it slightly. My build video shows how it all went together, we hope to model our future builds but we’re still learning and experimenting! ua-cam.com/video/gUA21EH8tkk/v-deo.html
2:04 the tree 😂
Pretty close! I just relocated that tree with the tractor this week, enough close calls 🤣 it’s a miracle someone didn’t hit it
yesterday i bought an engine from gsxr 1000 k5. When I see how the 750 goes, I'm already looking forward to it. I would be interested in the details of your geometry. The buggy seems to be driving very well.
Awesome! Check out our new videos, we used all this buggy’s parts to build our own from the ground up. I bought another GSXR 750 and built a swingarm version, and Mark used the Protodie rear end for his. We upgraded Mark’s engine to a K8 GSXR 1000 and then spun a rod bearing 🙃Crank at machine shop so that buggy will be back this fall. Here is my full build of swingarm buggy ua-cam.com/video/gUA21EH8tkk/v-deo.html this video series also features some of Marks build before we engine swap the K8 ua-cam.com/video/uQK460YJL64/v-deo.html your K5 is a reliable and highly sought after GSXR motor, I hope it serves you well! Can’t wait to see your build 👏🏼
Hey Nice buggy
Sick! What year is your gsxr 750 engine?
Thanks! It’s an ‘09
So tell me this why would you not cut the bracket take out all the shims reweld the bracket and make it proper without all the shims
Both cable issues are completely easy fixes it just shows how amateur you guys hard that you can't find a way to fix them and are just going to call it a cable muncher pretty pitiful
You should watch our recent videos, we cut the whole buggy apart and rebuilt. Thanks for the input!
@@AndyShear np.. thanks for not taking input tbe wrong way Ike most wankers...
Absolute cheapest quality build I've ever seen but I guess it works to a point. You said your building your own frames now I sure hope to god its nothing like what your building now
God love the bastard buggy!!!!
Dude you need to add some wrist restraints and attach them to the steering wheel. it might keep you from being an amputee.
I know scary shit watching these old videos!!
Good looking buggy wanted to ask what size tubing did you use and about how much did you use
6 sticks of .120 wall and 2 of 14ga
Always love watching these large displacement bike engine swaps 👍
Yea … 😀
Where Did you Get this Buggy? And How much is it? (Also is there a 2 seater?)
Bought locally, destroyed years ago, watch our new videos!
@@AndyShear awesome! thank you so much
Bad ass little machine. I have a 4 seater with a gsxr750 in it. .I'm trying a FNR gearbox but it's a cheap chinese model and seems to have problems with the HO and torque.
Ya that probably won’t work with this power
love the buggy, what atv rearend is that? I'm building something simular and still try to figure out the axle
