Ahh yes, the fuel crisis days. You could see cars like the Dart and Nova getting much more luxurious at that time because of it, as people wanted smaller cars. The Slant Six Darts had legendary durability, they seemed to run forever
they are pretty hard to blow them up, I did manage to spin a rod bearing on mine. I had added a 4 barrel carb with a cam and headers. the power came in at 4000rpms. it couldn't handle constant 6000 rpm abuse.
Had a 75 4 door Dart Swinger. Gave it to my brother when it was at 185,000. I replaced the timing chain and gears around 160,000. And eventually had to replace the electronic ignition control module. Good times, great car.
I had a 71 Plymouth Scamp that was a good car Slant six great mileage air condition had it for a long time but it with 58000 miles from the original owner
Love your channel......but on adding the extra music over the original music.......you might want to what I do, when I do my uploads, if there's a copyright complaint, file an appeal and explain that the music was originally licensed by Chrysler Corp and that its in the public domain. The music folks are pretty good and as long as they understand its for historical purposes and education, they retract. I'm always respectful on my request. It works well for me.
Love your channel too. I appreciate the advice and am glad to here that is working for you. I will have to try it. I applied with UA-cam to monitize my content but got rejected for reused content. Doing some research I found from other UA-camrs that a copyright claim won’t effect your channel unless after you haven’t been accepted into the program yet, and will throw a red flag into your chances. I would really like to keep the films as original as possible and focus on the image restoration. I am making some adjustments and going to reapply in a couple weeks.
As someone who builds a lot of scale model cars I'd really like to see more Mopar kits (and others) with full-cover wheel options like the cars in this vid instead of everything having rally wheels or occasionally steelies and dog dishes.
me neither, I owned a 68 Dart with a slant 6. I turned mine into a really fun daily driver. changed the cam, added a four-barrel carburetor and headers. Converted it disc brakes and removed the auto trans, installed 4 speed with a 3.55 8 3/4 sure grip rear end. front and rear sway bars, replaced the rear leaf springs and torsion bars doubling their stiffness. it handled great.
Let's just forget about the fact that a drastic numerical lowering of the rear axle ratio makes the poor little 318 2bl a slug. Drove plenty of them from Darts to Volares. Pre-smog, these were decent engines, and often the most powerful standard V8 in whatever class they were used. Post - uh huh. When the SE/Valiant Brougham came out in 74, Dodge/Plymouth moved ahead of the Maverick LDO in 'luxury' compacts. But with the redesigned GM X cars for 75 and the Granada, Chrysler had nothing and it was a holding action until the Aspen/Volare in 76.
those Chrysler engines were well built. I think better designed than ford or chevy. my favorite showing their superiority was the Hemi engine. Too bad it was gone by this time
I agree wholeheartedly. The 318 in particular was easy to maintain and work on. Aftermarket go parts were plentiful and fairly cheap to add, shaming a lot of GMs, Fomomcos and imports alike. If they made this exact car today with the regulated safety bullshit and proper fuel management it would slay the competition.
It’s to detract from copyright infringement. Believe me, he wishes it was truly period correct. There is a lot of restorative work involved to enhance color clarity and digital speed to make this a possibility.I applaud him for historic gems like this and bringing these to us masses . You should too

the '77 pontiac phoenix is one of my fave examples of that
@@SnepperStepTV Sure, I remember those. Buick and Olds also had their clones. They were like miniature luxury cars
Dodge hit the bullseye with this Dart ;-)
My favorite years were 67-69. I had a 68
My Grandma's Dart! Her's was Green and she lived rural so she needed a reliable car!

not much mopar stuff out there. would be cool if there was more
join the world of 3D printing - you can print any wheel cover or wheel you'd like
Eso es mucha elegancia. Saludos cordiales desde Colombia 😮
I bought an 11 year old gold Dart with a vinyl floor with a hole on the drivers side...for $800. Drove it for 50k miles until I lost reverse gear.
0:42 "...add to the glamour." Never thought of a Dart as being 'glamorous' 😜

A shame extra music was pasted over this. Hugely distracting

Had(1974) the similar Volari. A total P.O.S
that was defiantly not dodges greatest car
I didn't think a Volare came out until 1976?
You added drums ghey 👎
Pretty sure it's to prevent a copyright strike. I'm sure he still has the original without any modifications.
I hated to do that. Trying to keep them as original as possible
