The full brick walls and all the windows makes it looks like some sort of factory 😂 I live the original exterior since it showcase how they’re the old money with the Tudor building and English Country House layout compared to LA McMansion of the Altos just across the road.
I definitely consider Sims 3 Store items as "EA Items." Like, I know they count as CC, buuuut.... They always match that Maxis feel, whereas _actual_ custom content sometimes doesn't, and that's okay, but it's not for me haha. I prefer Maxis match stuff for sure. Renovation looks good! Thanks for sharing this with us! :)
I love CC for create a sim, but for build I almost never use it but i think the sims 3 is the easiest to play without build cc, because you can just change the colours and patterns of everything in the way you like
Definitely looks a lot better! I love how you were tactful in making the outside looked revamped and appropriate enough to the family without looking out of place with the other EA lots.
I think it's important to keep that "ea style", especially in the big hoods that come with the game. Thanks so much, im happy with the result... i will be forever replacing the landgraab lot with this one haha
Aw looks great! The house pre-reno always reminded me of that biiiig house in the sims 1 we all had to save up for ages to buy. XD Do you like playing in big houses in sims 3? I like looking at them, but they end up making gameplay so slow for me, sims taking forever to get anywhere. Thanks for the cool vid!
I rarely play with rich sims so I am usually in a starter home (or poverty haha), but when I do I always try to make a mansion more playable, like deleting irrelevant usable items and furniture and replacing them with decorations that they can't really interact with
Yes! It looks similar to that mansion of Sims 1. Me too, i wanted to have that mansion for my sims, it was the dream house haha and then we discovered klapausius and later rosebud trick so $$$$$$$$$$
I do remember moving in my sim to a premade house then sold everything (from objects to wall paints, hedges, etc) then evicting the sim then moving it again to another premade house to sell every stuff in the lot then evicting the sim again... just to accumulate funds so I can buy that big house, at the end of it, the only house left in the map was that big house haha that was way before I discovered the klapaucius cheat hahaha
Hi, little trick here, when you activate moveobject you can pick the fireplace and delete the back, all the back with ugly brick you can delete, love that feature. And than the actual fireplace works as fine like on the sims 4
Honestly I’m halfway through the video and I just love the fact that you go into full detail about your modifications to this mansion. It totally looks better now 💖
I like to point out the major decisions I make since most of the build is me trying to change a colour in create a style haha thanks for watching I’m glad you enjoyed x
I love your builds so much! they've inspired me to be more creative in my building in game! would you consider doing a more in-depth video about how you do the tiling, like in the dining room? that effect is so cool, it really pops! Love it.
I was thinking of doing a general build tutorial for TS3 soon so if you see that in the couple weeks I’ll definitely include a section specifically on create-a-style and colour theory (:
as I see it, only nancy is from old money, geoffrey's family isn't known, but I think it says specifically he married into the money... but you're right and nancy would be the one deciding everything I suppose
@Rekowcski sorry I'm 2 years late to the party lol. I think I actually agree with your style. Your "rich bitch" point I think pretty much is the strongest here. I've seen older mansions with the marbled flooring, even tile in some cases. In my opinion, the design is "rich bitch" and for sure old money.
Crying cuz I’ve been like obsessed with this house since 2009 and somehow whenever I build a mansion it comes out looking like this 😂 I do absolutely love the changes you made though.
Another thing I've noticed with TS3 is that you lose money in build mode if you put up a wall and take it down. It's costs 70 to build and you get 60 back when you tear down. It also does that with fences! You know how when you stop dragging a fence it puts a post, well it took me a few tries to get my sim's house the way I liked it, and I lost so much money messing with a fence and had to cheat her money back up... I figured that she shouldn't suffer because I'm indecisive.
Yes. I actually plan to mention this in a build tutorial. It is always on my mind bc I’m often playing legacy/rags to riches so one wall mistake could mean no toilet or dinner.
@@Rekowcski I'd forgotten this about build buy mode in TS3, but TS2 is even more brutal. It makes sense when you think about it, but drives home how much easier they made TS4
You ruined this one for me. The original was supposed to be an "old money" type of style (which you acknowledged). It was beautiful. I really hate the tiny bricks of this wall pattern. Also, you need to make it more dynamic. It needs other wall textures or else it looks like one big block of tiny static looking bricks or a very tall foundation.
The only thing I like about this mansion is how big it is. Most mansions in the sims 4 are limited by the small grid sizes, while sims 3 houses went more out there
I do the same in my renovations, I try to keep the original vibe and even the furniture, but changing the patterns because ea went c r a z y with that several times. In this house especially I don't know why they put cheep furniture in some places, like the parents have a cheap dresser. I end up doing exactly what you did, recoloring almost all the yellow in the house. I don't think the kitchen is reeeeally ugly, I even keep the green stuff just the way ea did, I just add laundry stuff, coffee machine, etc and fix the bizarre choices that makes no sense or make it unplayable (that I do in every ea house). They could had build a wall to hide that thing and made it less weirdly shaped! I love the landscaping in the house and the backyard, I just buy more crap for the kid like a treehouse.
Hi! I know I’m late to the party, but I just wanted to say that I love your style and I would really like to see a Sunset Valley renovation series from you, if you would like to do that I’m sure other people would love it too. Liked and subscribed, I’ll try to catch some lives as well :)
Its something I’m thinking about. If my builds become as popular as me yelling at them, then I will totally do it. I was thinking renovating the “ugliest” house in each world to start. You guys can vote for it!
This may be a stupid question since I've been playing the sims 3 for 10 years, but how do you do that thing where you copy the items that have in a certain style so you're not constantly going back to change them, they just get duplicated when you click on them? And also how do you delete the wallpaper so you get the money back like I've seen a few times now? Thanks to anyone who can help!
Use the ctrl key when your clicking to remove any wallpaper or flooring to get some money back Also to duplicate create a style swatches, you literally drag the palate onto other objects
maybe weird but i actually love the chimney bricks in sims 3. i miss it in sims 4... you just fake it. actually you can move around that little back part. you can detatch it from the fireplace and stick it on the outside of the house protip
I love it. I love renovating Landgraab Estate. Buy I never did anything you did here. But might I make a suggestion. If you have money. Add an awning over the front entrance, that covers the drive in front of the house. You'll have to use some foundation and columns to extend the awning out over the driveway. But just delete ehat you don't need as soon as you're finished with the awning. I do whenever I reno LG Estate. Just a suggestion. I think it looks better that way. But I never thought of doing the bump outs you did on the front of the house. But I also add a second garage to the right side of the front yard. But I may do what you did and redo LG Estate. But may I also suggest darken the brick to look like a brownstone instead. I tried it and liked it.
i'm not great with the sims 3 roofing tools just yet, but thank you for the suggestion, I should be more experimental with that stuff i agree, i think the darker brick would have been good to make it look a little more classic
I just renovated landgraab Estate and did some of the same things you did. But added a few of my personal touches. Like the awning over the front entrance and a second garage. But I did add the little bump outs you did on the front of the house. Plus changed all the round top doors in back with sliding glass doors. And did the brick in the brownstone style like I suggested. I'll see if I can upload a snapshot from my phone of the finished work. Never done it that way before.
If you need help in doing the awning. Here's what you do. First put a foundation on the level ground in front of the front door to the outer edge of the driveway. Then pick the column you wanna use to support the awning, once finished, and place four or 5 on the foundation in between the house wall and the outer columns. A white grid will appear out over the columns, a clear grid. Now you can put your floor over the columns. Out to the last outer columns. Once you do this you can delete the columns you won't be using and the foundation pieces that now covers the driveway. But leave 3 or 4 columns on the outer edge to make it appear to be supporting the awning. Make the awning as wide as the front entrance of the house, if you so desire, and leave some space between the remaining columns for the walk up to the front door. And ther you are. An awning over your front entrance. I know this sounds complicated. But it's not, I use to put walls up with the foundation, to do the same thing I now do with the foundation and columns
Not sure if anyone has asked so my apologies if they have - do you upload any of your builds (like this amazing one) for the sims 3 to the exchange for others to download? I’d love to have this in my game 😍.
