I love this video. It's so genuine and raw. We all got to start somewhere and it's nice that @Northborders is sharing his journey. I recently got into photography. Watching this video at the start of my journey gives me some faith/hope that my photos (in the future) may turn into bangers with some practice/experience.
Honestly great job man. I just worked on my 2020 demo reel and it's insane just how far I have come and improved in just one year. Your video gave me me the feeling that in the next two years, I will look at my work today, and not even recognize it haha.

@@AceYYC he litterly acts like it was old garbage while its one of the best cameras ever made, yea its autofocus in liveview is bad, but its autofocus in the OVF is good, offcourse it doesnt automaticly snap on things, you need to do it yourself, but the image quality is amazing, I wish I had one, i have a Nikon D7200 right now and the quality is still amazing, I think I'll stay with nikon forever and I still prefer dslrs over mirrorless unless its for video.
i have the same setup with the nikon 810 and tamron 24-70 2.8 and found it to be more reliable than both my sony and leica cameras. I have had some small issues with cards and firmware updates that doesn't work with some lenses, other than that it's a good camera setup in my opinion better than sony a7 series. The only thing I sometimes have a problem with is the size(with the battery grip) and how it makes people uncomfortable when taking event and street shoots.
I think people are always going to be uncomfortable when you take street shots haha. My Nikon was a solid camera for 3-4 years until I think it just had enough and then one thing after another kept going wrong. When it comes to film making and photography, no camera I've used can compare to the Sony A7 series cameras in my opinion.
The Ferrari shot, was that shot at Albert Park, where they have the F1 race? Because that long left hand turn looks like the back straight leading up to the high speed chicane. It looks so different without all of the sponsors and barricades and everything else.
Mike, I think it would be really cool if you took some of these old videos you criticize and look back on, and maybe redid them to show what you would have changed and show how you have improved.

I have a d7100 w/ 18-200 i use the most and I personally love it still!! i dont film very much, but i recently got a glidecam for it. Mike besides your Lemon of a camera, and not having active autofocus while filming, what else did you not like it for? As I said I'm still pretty fresh to filming but I definitely don't hate my Nikon... in fact I find them by far the most comfortable camera to hold. Does anybody have valid arguments that might show why or why not Nikon is worth staying with?
I guess when it came to film making the d810 really let me down. It couldn't handle much of an increase in ISO at night, didn't shoot 4k, had no slo motion or high frame features, nor an electric viewfinder or silent shooting mode (a real silent mode where the shutter didn't make any noise) whereas the Sony DOES have all these features I need plus more. Maybe the new Nikon mirrorless cameras do have these features... I haven't really checked and I don't really care because I'm happy with my Sony's and don't feel the need to switch :)

You should try the D850! It will give you completely different results! No better camera for photos than the D850! (Although focus still won't be good for videos but that's when the Z7 comes into the picture)
I mean... They're defintely better than my shitty as photos, videos, etc. I've had my Sony A6000 since September 2017 and still barely know how to use it. lol I've slowly learnt what everything does though.

D810 is a great pro camera and the mainstay of many pros, regardless of him roasting it.

D810 is very good for landscapes and stills in general. I would take an an a7 over it if i'm shooting video. Other than that the d810 is a beast.
