You give me hope, Jacob, on teaching recall! Just rescued a 5 y.o. female borzoi as a companion for my 2 y.o. male. She’s a runner! I’ll start work with her on recall, since like you stated, it’s so vitally important for sight hounds.

Good job on the training! She's adorable. Arlo is about 6 weeks younger and treats have worked well for his recall. Plus he does the 'check in' on walks as well. Cheers from Australia!

You were the one who helped me to make the right decision. You were the one who led me to the right path, THE BORZOI PATH😄. And now I have my little borzoi princess and she is perfect (she is 9 months now but if you wanna see some puppy photos look at her instagram arlettedaraska ). I want to thank you for making those videos. They are amazing and they made me realize how much borzoi would fit in our family.
Sending much love from Czech Republic, our russian lady Arlette greets your rusian ladies and wishes them good beet harvest.❤️❤️❤️
    (sorry for my bad english)

I love your videos, thank you so much for taking the time to not only make them, but to research your answers first, very informed! I have a question...does your puppy chew things? I've had adult (adopted) borzois and neither of them ever chewed so after my last adult died, I decided to purchase two borzoi puppies, my first puppies ever! They are the sweetest most lovable dogs in the world but sweet Lord they chew on everything and they're about a year old now! Will it ever stop???

OH man! They do like to chew, Esper stopped when she turned 2, Ora was really good about it at the start. It's hard to dissuade them too, kinda have to catch them in the act =/

I tried the two-word recall with my (almost) 6 m little lady, and she seems to respond a lot better, especially if I call to her while squatting down. *she knows she'll get a good rubbing and a whole lots kisses. :)
Have you done a video about coat types, if they go through coat changes between puppy and adult, when their coat is fully developed, etc. I can't remember, I recall a video on grooming, but not sure if it went into this detail... many thanks, your advice and experience is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi there. I recently stumbled upon your videos. I have a one year old male that I got at 4 months old and had no socialization. Although he is fine with people he turns a little scary when he sees another dog. Is it just fear as I'm being told, not sure. Would be interested to see if you have any good advice for me. He is too strong for me so we just don't go places that much. I have tried trainers but that's another whole story in itself. Thanks!

As far as being aggressive towards dogs I've never had a zoi that was, but it can be a lot of things - the situation they are meeting the new dog (Is it in their home, or in a park, is the dog neutered or not) and I would think the aggression comes from being fearful or not understanding. Especially since he had no socialization as a young pup during his critical learning months, he definitely doesn't know. It might be a good idea, if you have a friend with a dog, to set up daily meetings (even if it's at a distance or through a fence to start with). That way he can get to know a different dog over time, but I am not sure. I have found that borzois have extremely long memories, and it takes consistency over time to change their behavior, and they will look to you to know if it's ok or not. I wish I had more experience with this sort of thing to help you, maybe try contacting a breeder or an animal behavior specialist (they do exist). They can diagnose what is going on down to the minutia.

@@esperborzoi I really do believe it is fear aggression which is scary too. His biggest problem is passing a dog coming the other way. That is when he lunges. I did walk with my sister and her little Yorkie and he was pulling more sniffing than paying attention to the dog. He did bark at her dog and another dog a couple times. I will ask her to walk with me again and see how it goes. It was so bad I haven't taken him since. It was suggested to me to use a harness with a hook in the front, a gentle leader and an e collar. Not sure about how any of these would work but I will research it. I have reached out to another trainer so we shall see how that goes. I really appreciate you getting back to me. I will find more friends willing to help me out too. Thank you! Your dogs are adorable!

@@renehafer9928 no problem at all!!! Personally I’ve found with harnesses they are better for control but can actually promote tugging. I bet if you walked him daily with a friend (dog) he will get better over time

@@esperborzoi Yeah I thought the same thing about a harness. I will work on the walks with friends even though I hate the cold! I will keep you posted!
