It is worth to mention that the thermostat is to be positioned the way, that the small bleed off plug on its flange is orientted 12 o'clock. M60 and M62 are quite challenging in bleeding off, so fitting the thermostat with a random orienttion will not make the bleeding job any easier.
This only applies to the M60 engine. M62 series engines thermostat housing on the water pump is different and this housing cap and thermostat type will not work.

Hey what gasket did you use? I used the regular O ring gasket and it was a little bigger and its still leaking i feel these o ring gaskets are not it
If the thermostat needs replaced should I do the housing as well?

what coolant you use, and was it 50/50?
I replaced the thermostat and the housing cover....but the car still overheating
