HOWEVER, THIS SONG, “MY SON”, WAS ORIGINALLY AN INSTRUMENTAL CALLED “RALPH HENRY” THAT I WROTE FOR MY FATHER WHEN HE SADLY DIED. ACKER BILK RECORDED A BEAUTIFUL VERSION OF THIS PIECE AND, ON HEARING ACKER’S RECORDING, MALCOLM ROBERTS ASKED IF HE COULD WRITE A LYRIC TO THE MELODY. I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH HIS LYRIC, AS IT PORTRAYS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FATHER AND SON. JULIE HAS RECORDED A BEAUTIFUL VERSION OF THIS SONG, AS HAVE EDDY ARNOLD; BRENDAN SHINE AND JJ BARRIE.
