- We always have the BEST excursions in Ketchikan, Alaska!! And today is no different!! We are in port on Holland America Line Koningsdam on the last stop of our 11 day land & sea Cruise Tour. We have the Backcountry Jeep & Canoe Safari excursion to try something new!
Once off the ship we go to the meeting spot in town and board a bus which will take us to the starting point for the excursion. Since this involves canoes and Jeeps, the group is split half and half and we get to go canoeing first. We board our canoes and paddle a quarter of a mile across Harriet Hunt Lake to camp where warm clam chowder and snacks are waiting for us. We relax at camp for a bit and take a beautiful nature walk before heading back.
Next up, we hop in a Jeep and take off on dirt roads in the backcountry! This was SO MUCH FUN!! We stopped in several places to switch drivers so even had the opportunity to drive. This was such a great excursion!!
Once back at port we had time to take a walk around downtown Ketchikan and check out all of the cool shops on Creek Street.
We end our night with a delicious dinner at Canaletto, the Italian specialty restaurant onboard. Such a great meal! And that is a wrap from this amazing trip!!

I'm too old for excursions, but I live vicariously through the 2 of you. Thanks for your great channel.
I grew up in Ketchikan and we would go to that area for our 7th grade camping trips! Each year 7th and 8th graders would be dropped off in a remote location to learn to survive in the wilderness. In 7th grade, you could take food and tents but in 8th grade, you got to take a tarp and a coffee can of survival supplies. We're coming up on the 50th anniversary of the first Schoenbar Survival Trip!
There is a terrific museum there by the creek. Too bad you didn’t go in. Amazing displays of the history of Ketchikan.
Yeah, the Totem Heritage Center was really nice and shared a lot of the Alaska Native history and culture.
Tongass Historical Museum is the one by Creek Street. The Totem Heritage Center is also by the Ketchikan Creek but at the other end. Both are walkable and worth the visit.
Awesome!! I think the other excursion looked so much fun catch and cook
What I LOVE about Alysa and Jason, you are sooooo down to earth! Definitely the canoe before the jeep ride, looks like a lot of fun, right up our alley. Love Creek Street in Ketchikan.....another fantastic video! We are excited to cruise on Konsingdam in January and again in December 2024, thanks to EECC Travel!
We love Ketchikan - Sean got a couple of shirts from that cool
Shop. The excursion looked awesome
We did that excursion last July in pouring rain!
Same for us in May
Ya'll look like you have so much fun. I can't wait to cruise again in Dec.
The lake you were on is Lake Harriet Hunt. I did that excursion in Ketchikan.
I highly recommend doing the Hump Island Oyster Farm tour. Delicious. All locals.
You always take the best trips!! So fun to watch.
Loving these videos!
Really enjoyed the vlog. This whole series has been fun to watch. I'm going on a kayak (solo kayaks) adventure for and excursion on my Alaska cruise next year. They had a canoe excursion that was similar to the one you did, but as a very experienced canoer I think being put in a canoe with a bunch of people would be very frustrating for me. I think it would test my patience so going in a solo kayak will be a better option.
Great video ❤❤❤❤
I'm glad you guys get a chance to see the backcountry of Ketchikan, Alaska, it will take many tours of Alaska to see it all and I am proud of my state have so much to offer, and thanks for visiting my state. Great video and good job you guys.
Looks like a really fun day.
So much fun!! Beautiful scenery!!
Blues Club is always great on Holland. Don’t have a Holland Cruise booked at the moment but will be on them again at some point in the next year or so.
Fun vlog. The sound is so good 👍
I love it when y’all include the food on your trips.
How is the Buffet on the ship?
Looks like a great time !
Fun,fun,fun💝
I love your videos have seen everyone but I sure miss your old theme song 😢
We do too!! Someone came along and bought the rights to that song and hit us with a copyright on existing videos so we had to stop using it 🥲
Why were they wearing orange? Great video!
What do you guys recommend doing at Icy Strait Point?
Jason, didn't the lady say to get her to serve you the hot stuff? 😂
Another great excursion. Can you please tell me how long it took because we only have about 4 hours in Ketchikan?
It was about 3 1/2 hours. As long as you book it through the cruise line you will have enough time.
Was this a ship excursion?
Who were the chics you were with…why did you not introduce them
Love bear at table send me tourist
First?
Love this blog. Iẃ have peered myself on that trip in the jeeps. Of course from laughing so much. Ĥs great rest of the trip. Can't wait for a sea day bl I g
