After rewatching the anime, Joey is actually a great duelist, an awesome friend, and the best big brother. We're talking about the guy that made his opponents second guess themselves even when they cheat, risked his life and soul for his friends and sister, and took the unrelenting force of an Egyptian god and lived to tell the tale. Joey deserves respect.
Apparently, the show wasn't allowed to do that because that counts as advertising and that was forbidden for a tv show or something. There wasn't such a ban with movies.

I could be wrong ofc, just what I remember hearing and also trying to read between the lines.
I mean, to be fair, Pegasus still has the Duel Arena and not the up to date Duel Tech that Kaiba has with his Duel Disc and his subsequent arena like in the movie and in Season 2.
My favourite part about this movie is that Pegasus says "Wine" instead of "World's finest fruit juice" lmao... And that the movie wasn't censored _as much._

The movie wasn't even produced in japan, it was commissioned and produced by the US, like the capsule monsters mini series, that's why the animation looks so different too. It was then released in japan afterwards. So they didn't really need to censor anything or reedit the card pictures because they already produced it like that. In this case it was japan that got some editing, a new soundtrack and rewritten dialogues for their version.

How much of the movie is only possible because Pegasus wasn’t killed off like he was in the manga? Also it’s interesting that the Millennium Eye is the only Millennium Item that requires you to sacrifice part of yourself to use it. Everything else is either held in hand or worn around your neck.

My cousin took me to see this movie back when it was in theaters. I think I think I have the five cards to this day. Blue Eyes Shining Dragon, Sorcerer of Dark Magic, and the three sphinx monsters.
@@Kylewraps It didn't do as much good as I would have liked. For the longest time, I didn't have any way to summon Blue Eyes Ultimate Dragon, which meant no way to summon Blue Eyes Shining Dragon. And I didn't have Pyramid of Light (still don't, but I play Galaxy Eyes these days, so I don't have a reason to seek it out), so I couldn't use the three sphinxes to the full extent I wanted to.
One of my favourite things about the movie is during one of the early duels with Joey. Maju Garzett is summoned he attacks with a beam of sludge, and they use a stock vomiting sound effect. It gets me every time.

DSOD was manga canon like the Toei anime and the manga is a lot darker. Course the orginal Japanese version of Duel Monsters is as well because Shadi was killed by Yami Bakura five years before Duelist Kingdom in both anime and manga lore while in the dub he was killed by Thief King Bakura in Ancient Egypt. I guess 4kids didn't want to deal with the implications that Ryo's body was used for murder.
@@Yugiohkitty Personally, I prefer the way the story and the duels are handled in POL more. DSOD is pretty quick, and so it loses some good character moments that could have been with Diva, the Prana, and Yami-Bakura/Zorc, the latter of which being especially bad since he hijacks the final boss role from Diva. And the duels go by a bit too fast, as if they were worried they'd lose casual people's interest if they lingered. POL also does a better job at making Yugi's friends feel relevant, while they don't really get to do much or help Yugi in a significant way in DSOD. And again, POL is just funnier. DSOD can be funny, it's just more interested the dramatic story, which again I feel just deserved more time dedicated to it.

I saw this in theaters as a kid the staff where giving out cards for free one for each kid when we went back home me and my older brother open them up I got the pink fluff ball monster but my brother got Blue Eyes mechanical Dragon and he’s a collector of Yu Gi Oh cards so to him he was bless by god himself lol true story.
I find pyramid of light to be strong only in its comedy. The story is not so good in my opion, and the animation is eh(if you count when it came out, then i guess thats ok)

Mannn, this brings back memories! I remember going to see this in theater with my friends in elementary school and we were so hyped up haha! Good times. I miss those times, sometimes. The writing has not aged well however. Idk how I withstood this drivel as a kid. I tried going and rewatching Yugioh as an adult and oh dear god I'm sorry to anyone that likes it but to me it's totally over-the-top hammy and I can't take it seriously like I could when I was a kid. 😂

When I was 6-7 I was in my own little sandbox away from public opinion about this movie and being young I just thought it was a good movie, fast forward 15 years later and its my first time seeing the public opinion for this movie lol
POL had mid comedy. The actual good thing about it was that they gave Kaiba Megamorph which he only used in the manga which is a cool nod to the manga, albeit probably unintentional. Edit: Megamorph was also the first spell to be used in the manga which makes it pretty significant.
Honestly i really liked this movie it was cool and hype at the time. The new cards were cool, the duel Yugi had against kaiba was great despite a slight math error. It wasn't the greatest thing of all time but far from bad or terrible.
The problem with all the Yu-Gi-Oh movies is they just rushed to the climax. I haven't seen DSOD yet admittedly so I'm not sure of that one. But the first two could have built up a heavier plot. Especially BBT. The three main characters of the first gens teaming up but you don't have them explore their world's more? Come on.
DSOD feels pretty well paced imo. It actually feels like a movie while POL feels like a few filler episodes stitched together. DSOD also gets a point for finishing out Kaibas story.

@@darksideofevil13 I really reccomend giving DSOD a watch its probably my favourite piece of Yugioh media. Its a great send off to all of the characters. Also Takahashi animated a shot so it just makes it that much more valuable to me especially now with him having passed.
I know this style of content isnt for everybody. When you see other channels with yugioh clips, they include the clips with no captions and or emojis. I wanted to put a little spin on the same content. I do this very often on my channel, but I know its not for everybody. Thank you for letting me know😸

@@darksideofevil13 I really reccomend giving DSOD a watch its probably my favourite piece of Yugioh media. Its a great send off to all of the characters. Also Takahashi animated a shot so it just makes it that much more valuable to me especially now with him having passed.

And in POL Yami only fighrs the boss for like, 20 minutes if I'm not mistaken. I literally fell asleep because of the poor writing

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of caption-emoji style editing. I would have honestly loved this better without those.
I know this style of content isnt for everybody. When you see other channels with yugioh clips, they include the clips with no captions and or emojis. I wanted to put a little spin on the same content. I do this very often on my channel, but I know its not for everybody. Thank you for letting me know😸
