By being completely honest, this ending is one of my favorite worst ending i ever saw because this is probably the ending who fits the most to the game like if it was like a real series or movie. And with the music than Du'Met uses, it makes the ending so much better.
For why Du Met survived in the good ending: I think DuMet(Munday) actually died in the good ending, but the curator bring him back to live at the very end since the curator is the guy write down the story we played and he seems so pissed that the killer in his story book was killed.
There is two killers That would explain why when you block one out with the moving walls He appears again to chase jamie and move the doors again To free the other one
Well tbh the interesting thing is i kinda got the feeling the curator was in scenes when we thought it was Dumet. As all dark pictures games, before someone dies the curator is hiding in the back of the scene and in the dark the 2 looked very similar.

That wasn’t the real Dumet, the person on the deck was that bald guy on the tv who did the same thing as Mark did and i guess he got sent back and sniped like Mark and Kate
Okay, so it’s revealed in the Wikipedia page that Dumet is the cop from the Tape Recordings. And the guy who was dead on the deck is Joseph Morello. The only way you could have known this is if you found a book in one of the rooms written by Morrello, with his picture on it
The killer was Agent Munday, the agent "interviewing" sherman the crazy guy you hear talking ab numbers and shit. One point Agent Munday beat sherman in one of the tapes, his first taste into power.
They probably could have escaped from Du'Met by jumping off the ferry and swimming to shore. I don't know if they would have made it but it would be possible.
Best course of action honestly is swimming with the chains... but still would be incredibly difficult to escape Du'Met. He's basically Jason Voorhees with the amount of teleporting & invulnerability he has. That and if he's an experienced sniper, he might miss a couple of shots, but will definitely land one to kill you.
I feel like Du Met should have used a suppressed rifle, I don't remember hearing any random gunshots during the playthrough I watched. The ferry wasn't very far away so unless he was shooting .22 caliber bullets they would have definitely heard two distinct gunshots sometime after Jamie saw Du Met fleeing the island. Oh well. I loved the story, I wish we get more information as to how he survived a 3 story fall and a anchor in his chest in the good ending. Makes me think he isn't just a man and could be something paranormal. I mean his body looked FUCKED up from that fall and he looked genuinely scared about the anchor in his chest lol. Idk seems odd to just survive all that.
You dont know if munday was the one that killed them.. at least the game never explains how they died. Everyone just assumes munday killed them because hes the killer. But if you look at the mark and kate ending he let them leave after keeping their part of the bargain. So why wouldnt he let morello and his daughter? Personally id like to believe they didnt actually flee. After seeing how distraught mark was. Id like to think morello suffered from survivors guilt and after seeing his family murdered he took his daughters and his own life. Really just my theory because thats not confirmed either. I just dont see the point in munday killing them if he let mark and kate just leave
As for the paranormal theory. Thats a possibility he did look F'ed up after that fall. Also dude got chopped up by a boat propeller yet it still showed him picking up the mask at the end. With no blood on him or anything. Maybe there was more than one. Maybe he is paranormal. Tbh i think the devs just couldnt figure out what type of killer they wanted him to be.. seemed like the game flip flopped alot between jigsaw micheal myers or a jason vorrhees type movie. Maybe they were just indecisive and went with all 3 lol

What's frustrating is that this ending offers more closure to the story than the good ending. Either everyone survives and you have no idea who the killer is and what is going on. Or, this happens and at least you learn what is actually going on with DuMet. I almost prefer this ending just for the confession.
Not to be that guy, but you can find out that Du’Met was a former FBI agent named Hector Munday who became a serial killer who faked his own death and the fake “Du’Met” being Joseph Morello by finding the clues.

It’s the same model. H.H Holmes model is the same as John, the deputy has the same model as Salim, all the characters have the same models from the other games but with small modifications to make it look different
I'm surprised so many of you got this ending considering Kate is the easiest character to kill imo. Unless you give her the screwdriver (which you would have no reason to do since at the time Jamie seems like she needs it more), Kate won't survive the glass door thing. In both playthroughs I watched, she died that way...

Supermassive's newer games suffer from this imbalance where if the writing is ever good, the animation or the voice acting ruins the immersion. In this scene I'd say overall it's good but the animation specifically is lacking. Otherwise, it'd actually be great
I like to think the killer is actually H.H.Holmes and the reason he cant talk is that when he was hung it damaged his vocal cords and that's he is immortal....that's just my theory the one I like....

There is the metaphorical where Holmes started the serial killer "art" movement, and Du'Met is the latest disciple to "welcome the devil inside him"/create his art. And there is the literal where Holmes was being honest about "the devil is inside me": he was possessed. And the "devil" infected Mundy through the Beast of Arkansas, who infected Belkin, who infected Du'Met, who infected whoever takes up the mask next. A physical presence that refuses to die in order to make his "art".
Mark is a good man but he's definitely the kind of guy who waits around for external confirmation of what to do next instead of taking initiative himself.
I don't really buy that Du Met would always wait until his fake Du Met and companion are getting on to the boat, before killing them. He wouldn't want any risk of guests seeing him killing them. As then his guests wouldn't explore the house at all. It's only the front door that ends up barred too - easy to escape by windows.
I love that dog survives, one of these games has another animal change of date choice, Dusk Till Dawn think it's Bird or Deer & no matter what I just won't hurt an animal, I Apsolutely can't, the dog in this is Gorgeous
The ending branch only occurs if you get Erin, Charlie, and Jamie killed. Let Kate get captured by the killer and let Mark follow Du' Met's instruction to get this ending.
