- I am going to show you how to control the Ikea Tradfri bulbs with Alexa using the Philips hue and hue essentials apps. Ikea smart bulbs are much cheaper than the Philips hue bulbs. Follow the video and you can do it too. You will need the hue bridge or the new generation Echo devices. There is no need to get the Ikea gateway to get this set up. hope you like the video and please subscribe to help grow my channel. Thank you.

cool thx!
But the hue bridge IS the gateway.
LOL yeah this fooled me for a moment
I have tradfi getaway. also Alexa echo 4th gen. I buy some tradfi short cut and tradfi on off remotes. I will like to add it in Alexa app in order to open and close some xiaomi lights. I can't see my devices in Alexa. I make a searching but nothing happened.
any thoughts?
I don't think you can add the ikea remotes to Alexa but try the following:
Open ikea app. Go to the settings page via the cog icon in the top right-hand corner, then choose Integrations. Pick Amazon Alexa from the list, then tap Enable. You'll be asked to sign in with your Amazon account, then tap Allow to link your Trådfri and Amazon accounts together.
@@layman786 I did but nothing happens .so why IKEA intergration is for!? Do you know any smart buttons with battery that will work with Alexa?!philips hue dimmer the one with battery?!
I have a hue dimmer switch connected to my ikea lights. Works very well.
@@layman786 do I need the hue bridge?!
@@nickvas19 yes I think so
does this work with the styrbar?
I don't know as I have not personally tried it.
If i done have alexa can i still conect my IKEA trådfri led with my phone ?
Yes, you can, using the ikea app, but you need the ikea gateway.
Could you please tell me what happens if you have power outage with that setup. Is it possible to set the Ikea lights to stay off ?
If there is power outage the lights will go off but you don't need to reset them again after the power is restored.
@@layman786 Thank you for the reply. I have read Somewhere that with Ikea bulbs and hue bridge, when there is power outage and light is restored, the lights would turn on automatically, so if you are on vacation/travel your lights will stay on all the time. Normaly, with hue bulbs you have a setup option called previous state or something like that so that it does not happen. Any Idea about this, don't know if it is true or not. Thx
@@theattorney6072 this is true. When you turn the power off and then on again all smart lights turn on because in order for them to work the switch needs to be on permanently.
@@layman786 Thank you very much. However, I understand you Can set this up for Hue lights in the app and tell it to stay as it was before the power outage, which is off. I Wonder if this could also be set up with Ikea lights. I have read Somewhere that it would be possible if your Ikea lights have the last firmware as it might have been adressed, but again not sûre as I don't have the app yet (still thinking about which ones i should buy).
@@theattorney6072 I have both hue and ikea lights. If the lights are off (or they are timed to be off for another hour, let's say) and the power goes out and comes back. All lights will turn on. They will not stay off even though they are timed to turn on later. I hope this clears it.
How about Ikea buttons with hue bridge ?
I have not tried that.
Very misleading as you are using the Hue Bridge (gateway)
