    I would put a 10' blind on one of edges not in the open. Did you ever try planting cow peas? My wedding aniversary is coming up on 52 years to the same woman.

      Thanks for the input Gary! And congratulations on 52 years! That’s wonderful man and an inspiration to the next generation to marry right and stand by your bride. I have planted cow peas in a mix from Whitetail Food Plots USA. Deer love cow peas!

    If you can get an elevated blind in there great, if not tree stand with a wrap and roof. Good work Joe, and TSC doesn't just like you, they LOVE you!!! 👨‍🌾🚜 😅Take care and a late congrats! ♖

    Like your channel. I have small farm in Alabama. I do a lot of spraying on my fields makes working them a lot easier.

      Hey Rickey! Congratulations on 44 years buddy! What a blessing that is. And I appreciate the kind words about the channel, hope we make you feel welcome here; we have a pretty great community growing here. And what part of Alabama? Holly’s family have lived/farmed in Henegar (Sand Mountain) for 3 generations. Never hunted there but may this fall.

    This is the second video I found yours I enjoy watching your enthusiasm 20 years for me I think I put a tree stand up in that upper left corner I think the deer would feed around that but I really don't know your window directions whatnot

      @JoeTheFarmer  3 роки тому

      Thanks Steve, and congratulations on 20 years. Sounds like you found a good one! I’m thinking that back corner too. Tree stands are hard to come by so may have to be a 22’ project. I love being out there man; best therapy there is!!!!

    Determine your access route for your predominant wind direction for your stand location first. Design your plots after that. This will ensure your scent control will now bust deer out of the plots.

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  2 роки тому

      Absolutely. That spot would pull from the west so a w or sw wind would be 🕺🏻. Thanks for watching!

    George, first time watching this channel from WI. I've been doing food plots etc. for 25 yrs. plus, and have been married 45 yrs. this year. I would put the blind up, looks like a great spot, and maybe locate it also for a possible 25 yrd bow shot.

      Thanks......after lots of experiment, I have found the best crop to plant into for no till success is buckwheat. Just a thought!

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  3 роки тому

      I have considered that for this year but have to get the weeds under control first. May be kind of a “gap” year for soil conditioning and weed control but we will still have a nice plot (I hope!). Lol

    • @rfb7117

      I have sprayed 2 times, will plant the Buckwheat next week and then spray again after planting.

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  3 роки тому

      Sounds like a winner! I know Sturgis does the buckwheat strategy and it works great, but with all of the dead weeds/grass should shield the seed in year one. Year two buckwheat may be a must (if we can find it!). Keep me posted !

    Really good video Mr Joe!! Love your drive to manage the farm but you gotta go after that turkey pal haha. Love the low lying area for a stand or shooting house right off the bedding area. Congrats to you and your bride on 15 years. My 15 will be next month and hoping for many more. Happy Anniversary

    Married and happy since 1976.
    Tree stand or box blind?
    It's all about access
    and then weapon of choice.

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Sherman; congratulations on being married AND happy that long. A blessing for sure. I will likely do a tree stand and either the Hawk Down and Out or a Banks Stump. And yes, access is everything. Oh; this would be for rifle/muzzleloader. Not a ton of great bow locations. Thanks for watching!

    Hi joe , love the channel - I just bought a 15gallon sprayer for my Gator , need to know the ratio for Glyphosate/gallon ?? I’m doing approximately 3.5 acres . Thanks Sir

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Ryan! Welcome to the channel buddy! Appreciate you watching. I go with two quarts glyphosate per acre. You can go heavier if you want and it won’t hurt anything but your cost per acre. With a 15 gallon sprayer just move a bit quicker. Or, put one quart per half acre and refill. Just be sure to put the chemical in where you are spraying! You don’t want to leave a trail of dead grass. (Ask me how I know! Lol).

    45 years... as far as stand type or location. Let the primary wind direction and the most hidden access to the stands dictate that. Good luck @

    Utilize the natural contour of the land. Blind on the hilltop and Tree blind on the flat area. Place the blinds out of the prominent downwind direction, no scent, and clearly hidden in early morning shadows.

    • @JoeTheFarmer
      @JoeTheFarmer  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the advice Bay! That’s about what I was thinking. The ingress/egress will be tough for the tree stand but that would only be hunted on perfect days with good wind. The blinds are so much more forgiving (especially with scent control). Appreciate you watching buddy! 😁👍🏼👊🏼

      Thanks Dave! And congratulations on 36 years. Marriage is a blessing; not always easy but nothing worth it is. I feel incredibly blessed. And thanks for the advice! I like blind hunting better for when kids or friends come along. More fun to hunt with friends imo but there are times where being in a tree is total peace. I appreciate you my friend! Thanks for all of your support! I need to add ohio hill tops to my channel favorites. Will do that when back on the computer. 😁👍🏼👊🏼

    If you want this sprayer to work even better, put a new pickup filter screen. It will make you pump last longer too. I bought it off of Amazon.
