  • Autumn fishing trip on a tributary of the Wye.
I was fishing an 8ft 5wt Superfast cane rod. splitcane.co.uk/
The early mist slowed the hatching insects and it took a little while for the fish to come on. We swung spiders down and across, black and peacock, and partridge and orange being the most successful.
For more information on fishing the waters of Mid-Wales and beyond take a look at www.fishingpassport.co.uk/
for information on the rods and tackle that I build www.bannisterrods.co.uk/
    Regards

Luke just found your site, cracking films. This one reminds me of fishing the Swale high up in Swaledale Yorkshire

Thank You Neil. Those Yorkshire rivers are very much on my list. There is some lovely looking water up there.

Classic Grayling scene.Never in my lifetime did I ever expect to see a grayling let alone fish for em in my local stream but thanks to the Ribble trust who tore down the old industrial weirs and spent millions on fish passes(probably for salmon)Grayling now have travelled at least 30 miles and made use of previously unused habitat.real success story that’s surprised everyone.

Thank you Andy, it is amazing how they will come back given a little help.

Colne water which flows into Pendle water and then into the Calder

Thanks, Andy, for your enlightening comment. I have worried that removal of weirs, seemingly just for the sake of it, ignores the cost of doing it, and ignores, without evidence after the fact, whether it was justified.

Oh I can tell you first hand that it’s justified, fish easement is the name of the game and since it was done I watched over the years how the fish use the system, favouring certain pools in the spring ect, grayling would turn up on the first flood in May,June and be gone winter but now stay all the time.

Just curious, but where you fishing the River Dee near Llandderfel on Wednesday 13th Feb' '19? Was passing on the nearby road and saw three anglers and one looked just like you even down to your regular attire :)
Incidentally I'm sure you'll know how good the Welsh Dee is for Grayling. Tight lines :)

I wish I was out on the river, unfortunately it wasn't me.
It's been a while since I've fished up on the Dee. There is some cracking fishing up there.
Hope the coming season is a good one.
