You were offered a slot and you accepted. End of! Not sure why people want to “blame” you for someone else’s mistake. Either that athlete messed up or the organisers did. You were not part of any mistakes. So drive on 👏👏. Great to see the 🇮🇪 on the trackers too.
great race. But thats dirty. I hope you reconsider that slot. That is not the way to earn worlds. If an athlete that was better on the day and was present and ready to take the slot at awards it seems that athlete deserves her slot. If you got 5th in Campeche you could likley go 4th or 5th at San Juan Argentina next month, or better! Imagine how she feels. In the meantime. You did well. Raced in hard conditions. Be proud of that. Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this.
That's how roll down work though. Can see it from both sides but this was fair. Hopefully the announcers made it really clear who's up, it's a huge opportunity for some
Thank you for watching! But yes as the commenters indicated below this is how the rules work. Even if I had turned down the slot or tried to give it to third that's not allowed. Last year one pro was on an IM branded shuttle to awards and it broke down so he didn't get a Nice slot after winning the race. Totally agreed that if I were in her shoes I'd be upset - but these are the rules that we all have to follow.
@@robbo3132 thank you so much for the comment! The announcer was reading the slots in Spanish so if anything, it was somewhat hard for me to understand. And yes, although the process is imperfect, it's the same at every race so at least it's consistent.
The right thing to do is give to her rightfully so! Being selfish won't bode well for you at Worlds! Just saying, hope you can sleep well with what you have done!!! GG!
Thanks for that feedback - the rules explicitly state "To accept a slot, qualified athletes must claim their slot in-person at the Roll Down Ceremony, at the advertised time and location," If I had turned it down, it would have gone to 6th, not back to 3rd. I also can't "accept the slot" and give it back to her. I simply followed the rules and stood up and accepted the slot when it was rolled down to me.
Wow what a rollercoaster! Nice work! Enjoyed the video! Good luck on your next race! Congratulations!
Totally! Thanks so much for watching and for the kudos :D
solid work and congrats

Thanks so much! I appreciate the support on both fronts so, so much.
Looking forward to seeing you prepare and race in NZ…well done
Thank you! Luckily I have plenty of time to keep getting better before then!
Congratulations
Thank you!
Congrats on NZ!!
Thank you!!
St Patrick’s Day special 😊
Yes! Finally my luck kicked in.

Rules are rules, this is a job, part of the athlete's preparation is to know the rules
