Brilliant video Fiona. Im gluten free, dairy and egg free. Not too many options. Best of luck in your training. Dave from Kilkenny
Thanks Dave! It is certainly tough to find GF options, so I can't imagine dairy and egg free too! What are your go to training foods?
Such a dope quality, what are you filming with ?
Thanks! Shot on a Sony A7Siii
Carbs are king!
No, no Carbs are QUEEN
Great recap Fiona! Knowing all the crazy things that happened to you during the race makes your result even more impressive! Lots to be proud of. Look forward to see how this year's results propel you into next year!
Thanks so much Tony!! I appreciate the support - onwards and upwards :)
Was cheering you on from the US! Way to go!
Thank you thank you! I appreciate the support so much
Thank you for the great summary, which shows just how epic these things are at the personal level. Good result although the swim experience reminds me of why I let others do triathlon! But I am surprised by some of the Ironman management issues--the fact that the kayaker had different instructions about passing the buoy, the personal needs space was apparently in the wrong place, and, most seriously I think was that you were passed by cars when on the bike--is the road not closed for these events? Anyway, always lessons learned and we admire your positive outlook!
HA! Yes the swim would definitely discourage me from swimming ever again if I didn't like triathlon this much. Thanks so much for watching Leslie!
Great quality video and love seeing you and Lauren crush Nice. Well done! I am thinking Lauren needs to be a permanent guest on the UA-cam. You two are a duo.
+1 vote for Lauren as permanent guest
So great to recapture the fond memories of Zell em See and enjoying the happiness you and Lauren display. It was so cool meeting you both in Austria and this video is awesome! You both got it done in Nice. Rest up! European adventures in the books. Live your best life. 🔥🔥
The videos are great and yet cannot give a full idea of all the dedication and effort that goes into an international triathlon competition life. Racing by itself takes a lot but so does everything leading up to it and Fiona's Canadian Fan Club wishes her all the best on Sunday. That bike course...sublime...so enjoy every moment!
Great video Fiona! Looks like you are prepped and ready for Nice!
Thank you!! Excited to go for it 🎉🎉
@fionamoriarty8586 looking forward to following! Kick butt!! 🎉
Go on, Fiona! We're rooting for you!
I'm here for the Step Brother's references.
That was 1000% Josh. I think you guys will also be great friends 😂
Exactly! Nothing new as much as possible 🙌🏼
When I travel for a race I bring my own food I changed to eating only foods I don’t need to cook and travels easily for meals before big workouts, when I am at home so it isn’t a problem when traveling. Nothing new before a race especially the day before and the morning of the race
Thanks for the update Fiona! Congrats on the new bike sponsor and of course on getting married!,🎉
🙌🏻 🚴🏼♀️💍
Gwarn gwarn
I love your channel and your “Fiona to Kona” series! Super excited to follow along! 🙌
Thanks for starting this series. It'll be fun following along as you prep for nice! Love the name you came up with! 😀
We are enjoying all the insights into the pro life and look forward to the coming episodes leading to Nice. That course looks spectacular (albeit hard). Go on, Fiona!
Thank you so much ❤❤
Congrats, super race🎉
Thanks you!!🎉
So nice to see the ups in your year too, congratulations 👏👏👏
Thanks so much! 😊 It’s always more fun when the whole day comes together!
@@fionamoriartytri I bet
A terrific result, well-deserved! It has been great to follow along on the journey and we are excited to see you go big in Nice! Congratulations! And kudos once again to Mr. Video!
Thank you Leslie ❤🎉 And I think Josh deserves all the kudos too!
Glad you enjoyed the video, Leslie! -Mr. Video.
@@JoshSutton-ot3jt The video work is really top notch! But then I suspect you are the One Man Support Band--media, mechanics etc. Good work, Josh!
Congrats…enjoy watching your journey….great Cairns video
Thank you! I appreciate the kudos and support so much.
Thanks for sharing the fun video Fiona and congrats on a great performance. You looked so strong throughout the entire race! Can't wait to follow you at Nice!
Thanks Tony! I really appreciate the support as always 🎉
Good luck with the next race Fiona 👏. When your big break arrives. The days like Lanzarote will make it all the more special. Never count the amount of times you have been knocked down - only count the times you have gotten back up.
On to the next..i bet there will be less wind......... Good Luck 🏊🚴♂️🏃♀️
👍
heatstroke no doubt and lack of salts causes this sympthons ( blodd pressure, feeling high) luckily you didn't crash on the ground by pusing it to far. And yes you can feel great again after only 1 hour? happens with me in NIce as an ag wanted to finisish and finish and felt quit ok. But of course you took the right decision Fiona
Lanzarote was brutal! Congrats for the video!
Yes it absolutely was - thanks so much for watching and for the encouragement!
@@fionamoriartytri i also made a video about the race, it’s in spanish hehe but maybe you want to take a look and tell me what you think 😉
You showed grace and grit Fiona. Till the next time💪. Angela. Limerick Tri Club
Thanks for the update Fiona! Hope you are able to figure out what happened but you definitely have lots of reasons to be positive after such a great showing before you passed out. Good luck at the next race! Onward!!
We saw on Strava that you wrote about the faceplant and ambulance ride and were very concerned although it looked like a good bike ride (and, from this video, a fantastic swim leg). Although DNFs are disappointing and teach hard lessons, they are still lessons to apply for better results and we are glad you are looking forward to IM Cairns with such a positive mindset. As always, another nicely-done video from the media man and we look forward to the next adventure.
Thank you so much Leslie <3 I appreciate the support and concern so much! Onwards and upwards to the next one!
looks like an awesome camp. Beautiful places to train. Also, love your bike setup. Keep it up! Gives me something to aspire to (just launched my own Tri channel) Yours is awesome. I gave you a sub
Thank you thank you!
🎰🎰🎰
You were offered a slot and you accepted. End of! Not sure why people want to “blame” you for someone else’s mistake. Either that athlete messed up or the organisers did. You were not part of any mistakes. So drive on 👏👏. Great to see the 🇮🇪 on the trackers too.
Thanks so much! I appreciate the support on both fronts so, so much.
Wow what a rollercoaster! Nice work! Enjoyed the video! Good luck on your next race! Congratulations!
Totally! Thanks so much for watching and for the kudos :D
The right thing to do is give to her rightfully so! Being selfish won't bode well for you at Worlds! Just saying, hope you can sleep well with what you have done!!! GG!
Thanks for that feedback - the rules explicitly state "To accept a slot, qualified athletes must claim their slot in-person at the Roll Down Ceremony, at the advertised time and location," If I had turned it down, it would have gone to 6th, not back to 3rd. I also can't "accept the slot" and give it back to her. I simply followed the rules and stood up and accepted the slot when it was rolled down to me.
Looks like your in need of a good S&C program! I recommend Kate from Valere! Look her up!!! All the best!
solid work and congrats
Thank you!
You’re a Hack, don’t deserve it, an age grouper doing it is a different story but a PROFESSIONAL as you call youself come on, great example set there. I hope you lose a sponsor or two over this. Embarrassing and greedy move. Should have been faster. But yeah enjoy your roll down, I didn’t earn it WC slot. HACK.
great race. But thats dirty. I hope you reconsider that slot. That is not the way to earn worlds. If an athlete that was better on the day and was present and ready to take the slot at awards it seems that athlete deserves her slot. If you got 5th in Campeche you could likley go 4th or 5th at San Juan Argentina next month, or better! Imagine how she feels. In the meantime. You did well. Raced in hard conditions. Be proud of that. Maybe I'm thinking too hard about this.
That's how roll down work though. Can see it from both sides but this was fair. Hopefully the announcers made it really clear who's up, it's a huge opportunity for some
Rules are rules, this is a job, part of the athlete's preparation is to know the rules
Thank you for watching! But yes as the commenters indicated below this is how the rules work. Even if I had turned down the slot or tried to give it to third that's not allowed. Last year one pro was on an IM branded shuttle to awards and it broke down so he didn't get a Nice slot after winning the race. Totally agreed that if I were in her shoes I'd be upset - but these are the rules that we all have to follow.
@@robbo3132 thank you so much for the comment! The announcer was reading the slots in Spanish so if anything, it was somewhat hard for me to understand. And yes, although the process is imperfect, it's the same at every race so at least it's consistent.
@@rubenirigoyen7747 Thank you for the support!
Congratulations
Thank you!
St Patrick’s Day special 😊
Yes! Finally my luck kicked in.
Looking forward to seeing you prepare and race in NZ…well done
Thank you! Luckily I have plenty of time to keep getting better before then!
Congrats on NZ!!
Thank you!!
Awesome job! Congratulations I’m taking swimming lessons and trying to swim faster Thank you!!
Doing same as you girl, all for the love of swimming for me.❤️🔥
Looking powerful
Fun video. Thanks for the update. Are going to do another 6 weeks sabbatical this year if you qualify for kona again. That was a fun series! BTW great job on the swim test. It sure looked painful!😂
