Love this recipe but the name doesn’t suit it. Idli is basically made through pure steaming this recipe is more of a kind of Uthappam. So I would name this masala podi uthapam🤩
This is not uthappam in my opinion. Telugus make idlis this way, very different from those of Tamilians/Kannadigas. The only change is that the kaaram podi is usually on the side and in here Yaman mixes it with the idli (we call it podi idli) and other veggies.
Amazing recipe. U can soak urad daal and idli rawa saperately for nearly 3-4 hours only. May b in the evening at 5 o clock. And at around 9 o clock u can grind the daal and mix everything and keep the mixture for fermentation overnight. Next day morning batter is ready for idli.
Hey Yaman soaking urad dal and idli rava for 3 to 4 hours is enough....no need to soak overnight...also after fermentation if water needed to be added to the batter to adjust consistency always add warm water...great going Yaman love all your recipes...happy cooking

I have never come across of such recipe out of idly rava in UA-cam, but now in many other channels this recipe will be copied. Will try it for sure. Looks very tasty too. 😊
It is good to fry the batter before hand as compared to tawa idle. In tawa idle we have to make the idle then to fry with gun powder, onion & butter. It saves much time. Nice recipe.

I tried this sir.. it came out really well.. I did a lil kanjoosi with adding ghee though 😉 I also added some home made pav bhaji masala and the masala which u had made for hyderabadi dosa recipe... Instead of this masala.. it was just a treat.. thanq so much for this recipe👌
