I have been asked this question numerous times, so let me address it as a whole. It is safe for the ac to be wet when it rains. The ac it self pulls moisture out the air, removes humidity, and turns it into water that is dispensed around where the outside fan spins. The water benefits the ac by the fan sloshing it around. It makes the unit run bettter overall if some water is being sloshed around and being dispersed on the condenser. One thing I will note is that if it rains heavily and it’s in the ac’s direction too much water might build up and cause the fan motor to bog when starting up so if it becomes a problem you might want to turn off the unit until it stops raining to not stress the fan motor. Also I recommend taking off the whole metal casing and washing the inside of the ac every 2 years. Another thing is you want to make sure the ac is angled slightly downwards just a tad bit down the back end that’s out the window so it can properly collect and not too much build up on the hottest days when it has to pull a ton of humid water out the air.
TIP: immediately after unboxing, and before installing the other parts, plug it in and let it run for 5 or 10 minutes to make sure it actually works. This way if you have to take it back to the store, you don't have a lot of pieces to take back off and repack. I learned this the hard way.
I did what you said and it ran fine. Then I spent a couple of hours installing it and it ran for a few hours and then just quit. Now I have to take it back after I uninstall it. Fun.
Very helpful! My wall unit broke and I had to run to Walmart at 9pm for a small window unit to use until it gets fixed. Watching this video was much easier than reading directions after a long day.

Flawless instructions, they helped me install this exact unit properly. I ended up shoving paper towels in the side panels since the gaps were already pretty small, but the insulation is surprisingly good from doing that. I can safely say this indeed is easy to set up and use.
I bought the relatively small box from a big box w/hopes of escaping this oven I call home but as I continued to delay the temperature forced me to face the manual… thankfully I stumbled upon your video & made my escape into arctic bliss!
Omg thank you for the accordion piece! I appreciate the the walkthrough! I had my stuff on right but I didn’t insert it into the four slots. So it was really helpful to see that. Thank you!
You’re the first video that came up when I came home with my a/c. I have central air, but they put the 1000# or more unit in our attic!!! Really! I didn’t realize that when I bought the house, because so couldn’t pay attention with my two kids at inspection. So it’s like going into hell changing the filters and for some reason, they’re always dirty. I imagine sue to my dogs and cats hair. Thank you .... couldn't figure out the side panels.....we use it in an outside cat shed, so the windows are smaller but some duct tape and it works good enough....😂
Thanks for the video. My windows is only 17 inches wide, and technically I know the company says it has to be 23 inches wide to install this unit. However, the dimensions of this unit is 16 inches, so if I don't add the side panels, it will fit. Is there any reason why this can't work? Also, my window is a horizontal sliding window. What would be the best way to secure this unit in my window? Thanks for your help.
When they say minimum 23 inches that means with both side panels installed and collapsed completely towards the unit and even having only one would be too wide for your window. You must install it with no side panels and find a way to fill in the remaining inch gap whether it piece a piece of wood, insulation or what ever you can improvise with.
Hi, this was super-useful to me, as the equipment does not come with an installation manual. I had to do my own thing since my window shuts horizontally and is kind of narrow (just 2 extra inches on either side after the conditioner is put), but it was good to know how the whole thing is supposed to be put together. I'm still missing the sun shade. Did you ever put some shade above the conditioner to protect it from the sun?
Yes it needs a very slight downward angle outside to keep the water flowing towards the back, keep the water from sloshing around, and being resprayed back onto the coil to keep the unit working better and cool

I just bought mines today & I kept it at the lowest temperature making the room so cold at first the sound was going in and out high and low then it suddenly stopped blowing air. Do you ever have problems with yours now if so what do you do to fix it ?
Thanks for the video. I’m just wondering that top bracket that gets bolted on the AC. Does the window actually fit all the way down into it? Or is the window too wide and it kind of hits the back bend the bracket?
Go to 7 mins and 17 mins in for all that information separate intervals cover that but long story short it depends if you want to or it does not fit snug in the window or feels weak and you don’t want it accidentally falling out or dumb people opening the window and it falling out or a kid, has gaps that the side panels won’t stay solid and keep falling in
This ac was not designed to be put in that style of window. The only way it would work is if you built a wooden frame around the ac and put it in the window but it would be a whole wooden ply board it would look kinda ugly but that’s really the only way you can put that ac in that window. You can cut a whole that fits the unit in a piece of board and make sure the board fits in the window. Other than that the only other option would be to buy a portable ac which is double the price and not as good but the tube and frame would fit in the window and close.
I would recommend NOT drilling into the plastic of the window. It's not very strong and it's part of the window. If you hot the glass or weaken the window by drilling into it, you are going to have bigger issues.

No. In fact it works with water. Air conditioners remove water from the air,and deposits on the bottom of the metal pan. Rain does not affect the eletronics
So mine blew air for about 1 hour and a half . And then it turn itself automatically. Does it do that ? Or did it stop working . Idk if it was on test mode or what. It hasn’t turned on in 7 hours idk if its on a timer
How do you use the controls cause I must have put something wrong cause it would go off when it got cold and then come back on but by then I was sweating?
Sorry for the late reply, but it depends. It will need special installation and people cut a hole in a board that would fit that kind of window and put the ac in the middle of the board and seal it and put it in the window. In my opinion that is ugly, and not sure if you can make the window open all the way so the ac can stick out or not. In that case, people tend to turn to portable ac for those kinds of windows. They are double the price, bulky, and don’t work as good as a window ac, gut they are better than nothing in that kind of situation.
You don’t need to unless the machine is making so much water that it’s stopping or bogging the fan motor making it slow the water actually helps the unit run better but if it bogs or slows down you might have to drill a tiny small drain hole on the bottom of the ac in a very careful spot as not to hit any of the ac internals while drilling the hole
You keep it on based what your country uses. in America it’s Fahrenheit. Only 2 counties in the world use Fahrenheit. All others use Celsius. Unless you like to use Celsius anyways
Yes and the water that gets in the machine actually is helpful in cooling, but too much rain will cause the fan to bog and have a hard time rotating outside, so if that happens I would turn off the machine until the rain stops. That is in a very heavy rain storm that blows onto the unit, but like a normal shower or rain should be fine and water is good for the machine.

This ac was not designed to be put in that style of window. Is the Ac Unit any good ?
I would recommend NOT drilling into the plastic of the window. It's not very strong and it's part of the window. If you hot the glass or weaken the window by drilling into it, you are going to have bigger issues.
Looking to buy a window ac, do you still recommend Midea?
Yes I still recommend this unit if you want the eletronic control panel.
Quick question how do you deal with rain with this AC?
Another thing is you want to make sure the ac is angled slightly downwards just a tad bit down the back end that’s out the window so it can properly collect and not too much build up on the hottest days when it has to pull a ton of humid water out the air.
i’m in the basement and the windows are rather small would u recommend ? or another unit
Depends how many square feet the basement is
The ac have openings on the outside parts that I can see the inside, like the fan etc, if it rains will it cause an electrical short circuit?
Is it possible to install this type of ac to a casement window?
Sorry for the late reply, but it depends. It will need special installation and people cut a hole in a board that would fit that kind of window and put the ac in the middle of the board and seal it and put it in the window. In my opinion that is ugly, and not sure if you can make the window open all the way so the ac can stick out or not. In that case, people tend to turn to portable ac for those kinds of windows. They are double the price, bulky, and don’t work as good as a window ac, gut they are better than nothing in that kind of situation.
@topfin8441 thank you for your time! All the best
How do u drain the water thoroughly
You don’t need to unless the machine is making so much water that it’s stopping or bogging the fan motor making it slow the water actually helps the unit run better but if it bogs or slows down you might have to drill a tiny small drain hole on the bottom of the ac in a very careful spot as not to hit any of the ac internals while drilling the hole
Do you keep it on fehrenheit or Celsius ?
You keep it on based what your country uses. in America it’s Fahrenheit. Only 2 counties in the world use Fahrenheit. All others use Celsius. Unless you like to use Celsius anyways
FM
Do not touch the back of this ac it’s sharp metal grate my wife cut her finger
Friend, do you have a video where you drain the air? , I just bought this air
How would you drain the air?
Can you turn these on when it rains?
Yes and the water that gets in the machine actually is helpful in cooling, but too much rain will cause the fan to bog and have a hard time rotating outside, so if that happens I would turn off the machine until the rain stops. That is in a very heavy rain storm that blows onto the unit, but like a normal shower or rain should be fine and water is good for the machine.
@@topfin8441 so when there is a rain storm and water gets in the ac unit do you wait till it drys or can you turn it right back on
we had ac units back in like 2010 or so and never had any issues with rain. i hope this unit doesn’t have any issues. 🤷🏻♀️
Do these drip alot? Is there a drain hole?
