videos like this are absolutely priceless for people who have never put in an AC unit by themselves, like me. or people out on their own and need to know how to do stuff.
TIP: immediately after unboxing, and before installing the other parts, plug it in and let it run for 5 or 10 minutes to make sure it actually works. This way if you have to take it back to the store, you don't have a lot of pieces to take back off and repack. I learned this the hard way.
Quick Tip: Don't want to drill holes into any vinyl/wood? Buy some double-sided foam tape. I chose the 3M brand. It's has the green backing on it. Run that along the sides of the window where the flaps close. I left a little over hang on the inside so that after I close the sides I fold the tape backwards onto the plastic flaps to get a really good seal. I hope this helps!

This is the only guy who talked about how to fit the bottom of the air conditioner in the window. The others didn't make any mention of it. How to position the air conditioner on the bottom sill is part that confuses most people. The one problem with his window, though, is that it doesn't appear to be standard. Most vinyl windows have one "lip" at the bottom (not two lips in parallel), and you have to position the bottom rail or feet on your air conditioner behind that lip.
This video is very simplistic. And makes it easy to install however I did not know that my windows have safety locks and whoever installed the windows install the freaking Windows backwards so the weight of the air conditioner caused them to unlock and flip out not only did I break glass but I also broke the AC by falling six feet down to the ground. Old video but I must comment, in the first place, is the grade with an explanation. You receive a C+ the reason you received this grade is that you failed to complete the installation. In the second place, using foam insulation is important, it will help to minimize vibration and keep hot and cold air from migrating as well as insects. 1. Place a piece of thin foam, or weather stripping on top of the air conditioner bar so the window seal will rest on top of it when closed, this will help to minimize the vibration between the two. 2. Install window sash seal foam between the top of the windows, since the window cannot close all the way for an obvious reason. This leaves a gap not only allowing insects to get in but also allowing the hot and cold air to migrate. 3. Also, use some weather stripping to seal around the bottom of the air conditioner, plus use some weather stripping on the accordion sliding panels.
Is part of the inside of the unit supposed to have stirafoam near the vent on the inside facing side of the unit. I noticed mine currently does and I wonder if it is part of the unit or not
