Great that you included Turn the lights down low. Lot's of great guitar work to be found on all of the Bob Marley & the Wailers albums. Often overlooked by many people learning guitar.
@@jpizzleforizzle I’ve been learning a lot of DL riffs recently and I’ve found a good way to replicate the tone is to use my blues driver with my jazz chorus and I dial the mids entirely off
TURN YOUR LIGHTS DOWN LOW!!! One of my absolute favorite Marley songs (and I listen to a LOT of Marley) and I just played it for a group of 9 close friends the other night and not ONE of them knew it, I'm so happy to find that somebody else loves it.
Being both a crappy guitarist and not an expert of clean tones, this video is perfect for Me! BTW talking of guitar tones, I love the Eric Johnson lead one, but it's also one of the hardest to even get close to, at least for me and even owning a Strat...
Thanks for the cool tone overview, Ayla ! I say it every time but I love the look of your Texas Tea Strat - definitely a favorite color I've ever seen Fender put out...
this is such an awesome video, have wanted to get into tone for a while now but have always found finding the right place to start to be so intimidating and impenetrable. this video does such an awesome job simplifying the idea of signal flow and tone, i really appreciate the breadth of knowledge on display here. thanks ayla for another banger
If you ask many contemporary guitarists of today, they would all say one basic thing about tone... Nuno put it best when he was finally in the presence of Eddie, who handed him his guitar to play THAT tone... The Guitar, the Effects, The Amps, and the DNA was all in his hands... He HAD that perfect tone in front of him... Soooo, when he started to play, he was totally devastated... Instead of sounding like the most iconic TONE of all time, Nuno 'only' sounded like himself... It`s all in the fingers!!!
Lately, I enjoy chicken pickers. In the past there were so many good tones from the late 60s through the 70s. Robin Trower's Bridge of Sighs has some great ones. Jerry Garcia has lots of them throughout his career. I like the reverse delay from Jimi Hendrix's Castles Made of Sand. Thre were a lot of great tones from Steely Dan and Little Feat, too. Eric Clapton has some great tones, too
They did have a unique tone, he was an M.I.T. Graduate & virtually came up with his own tone. It was a great one at the time, but the only problem with Boston was that if you heard the first album, you heard them all. They never really changed after that, in my humble opinion, they just stayed the same.
I am so engrossed in your sweet way of talking I haven't heard much of the contents so I have to keep coming back to watch it, I don't have a electric Guitar as yet, I still wanted to listen to you 😄😍
My favorite guitar tone of all time?: Daune Allman: Eat a Peach: Mountain Jam: 27:30 on... Sublime. BTW, you really nailed that Voodoo Chile tone! Just subbed & looking forward to more of your vids!
I'm really into Rotem Sivan guitar tone. On I think it's "All we need" . He has a great raw tone through his Howard Robert's into a fender twin Reverb with just a slight touch with a Fishman guitar synth...it's soooo beautiful to me right now. Great video. Forgot all about C and C good catch.
Hey Ayla, glad you did the funky Meters tune. New Orleans Jazz Fest is back after a 2 year Covid delay, it is the last week in April and the 1st week in May. Glad you did Hendrix too. Just curios, I wonder what that strat would look like with a aged white pearloid pickguard and knobs. Hey when I was a kid Crimson and Clover came on the radio and my Dad kept on trying to tune in the station. LOL 😂 I sure do miss him. Thanks. 👍🎸🙏😎✌️
This is simply an exceptional video. I love your choice of songs. I'd really like to see more videos like thia about guitar tone. Tutorials are easy enough to find, but generating a great gutar tone are not. & I love, love, love your Tommy James tone.
Moody Blues "bumble bee" fuzz is a great tone. Similar to the Guess Who on some of their songs too. E bow and the 10cc Gizmotron are interesting effects too.
Wonder if Bolan was inspired by Fripps 21st Century Schizoid Man from King Crimsons Court of the Crimson King...? Great album cover😉😎👍 Crimson (again?) And Clover along with Pictures of Matchstick Men were intros to cool tremolo for me as well 😎👍 Wonderful video. Great information...Thank you Ayla😎👍❤🖖
*Jerry Garcia, Tennessee Jed, Europe 72 (or anything off Garcia). *Robbie Krieger, Peace Frog, Morrison Hotel. *Angus Young, Night Prowler, Highway to Hell. *BB King, How Blues Can You Get, Live in Cook County Jail. *David Gilmour, Dogs, Animals.
Hello Ayla .. Another Gr8 lesson .. I was not a Marc Bolan Fan But I was forced to the Song "Listen to Life's a Gas " of one of Marc's album's My schoolfriend had access to his older sisters Stereo & He insisted I listen over & over until I agreed it was a good song. .. On the Recording of Jimi in his Electric Ladyland studio .. I have watched so many interviews & seen so many Still's B&W shots of him .. it is difficult to be sure of much except they were using good Herb's lol .. But there is a picture of Jimi sitting in the main Live room & he is sitting on the floor next to a Bassman & I believe he was double tracking with himself ?? Eddie Kramer had Mike's all over & it's true Jimi played a lot of the stuff in the mixing Desk room & my favoutite story from someone who was there is that Jimi played a part that was then going to be played back in reverse & to the amazement of all he seemed to have planned the part perfectly so that when he laid down the next part over the Backwards playing tape he Got it right 1st take as if he knew exactly how it would sound ?? Genius or Luck / Talent... But what fun it must have been to be there & be a part of it all . Dave Mason who played the acoustic guitar part in " Watchtower " seem's to have some of the best & informed memories of the sessions I urge you to try & find them .. Anyway Big love to you & all the crew & the Band etc To Guitar learners young & old .. I have bought a really Light Strat ' affinity series & I have a small multi Fx ( won't name ) That seem's to have a strange mind of it's own .. But it allows me to play with Headphones on when I cannot sleep ( still Bed bound a lot of Back pain ) But Never give up .. Right ? & I still have fun . I wish I had the Set up Line 6 stuff .. But I will have to save up for that . Stay safe & Well you are always cool .. From the Forest where spring is beginning to show . Cheers
Nice emulations! We can save the modeled versus real hardware debate for later. One of my all time favorites is the tape flange during Jimi's solo at the end of Axis Bold as Love. BTW, I don't think the tempo of Crimson and Clover is 168 bpm, more like 80 ish. Keep up the good work.
Nice job, and thanks for the careful explanations of stuff. I don't really have any problems with the choices you made, and it's a good broad palette of sounds - I just feel it necessary to say because I loved it so much ... the best guitar tone I ever heard was Stevie Ray Vaughan live. Would be maybe interesting to compare it to the Hendrix tone you reviewed. Really good job, thanks.
Guitar shops love to see a " tone junkie " coming through the door. They know a sale is eminent. I chased tone on The Virtues original tune Guitar Boogie Shuffle. I think I drove everyone nuts. Once I found "Slap Back Echo " everyone was relieved.
P.S. ... One of my favorite guitar tones is what the Eagles get on "I can't tell you why". Maybe you could do a video on those guitar parts sometime, or at least comment on them ... Thanks!
I got a aby-pedal SwitchBlade+.Since I have weakest MG 100hfx and Code 100h.Novice,1000 times difficult.Together creates pro Roland sounds on 280W HarleyBenton.BLUFF musicgame.Tuned the amplifier,automatically plays.Could played 100 year on aby-pedal bluff,pro.
Nice! I love phaser. I’m gonna try to jam to that bob marley song🙂 have you tried the Strymon deco? You can get all those cool tape effects on your board🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Great that you included Turn the lights down low. Lot's of great guitar work to be found on all of the Bob Marley & the Wailers albums. Often overlooked by many people learning guitar.
Also, one of the best guitar tones/sounds is the chorus with a little bit of an edge on Def Leppard‘s Hysteria.
The guitars were recorded using a Rockman for the entire album. No amps. Such an iconic sound.
@@jpizzleforizzle I’ve been learning a lot of DL riffs recently and I’ve found a good way to replicate the tone is to use my blues driver with my jazz chorus and I dial the mids entirely off
Watchin/listening to you play Voodoo Chile just made my day!!! Keep on Rockin' and stay groovy!!!
Your guitar collection are really wonderful. I keep learning a lot by watching your channel. Thanks for making it.

You got Good ears!! Appreciate your passion it’s contagious
Thanks for the cool tone overview, Ayla ! I say it every time but I love the look of your Texas Tea Strat - definitely a favorite color I've ever seen Fender put out...

hands down one of the best video on tone, thanks!
Useful info Ayla... Many thanks 🎸🎸🎸
Beautiful your Fender! I really enjoyed the video! I use a Fender Corona California.
My fav guitar tone sound is Slow Dancing in a Burning Room by John Mayer. Soothes the soul
Awesome Video ... I really admire your positive attitude towards everything !!!

I'd have to say that my all-time favorite guitar tone is the "Boston" guitar tone.

I've said it before - you're amazing. A prodigy. Your video editing is better and better too.
Cool Video -- It's always fun to play around with effects and try and create something new and interesting to me.

Such great guitars being used!! So cool
Awesome video- and use of the sonic air running out sound :) no pressure!
Ayla kicking ass like always. Awesome tones!

she is so positive gotta love that attitude
A partially cocked Wah is one key to Mick Ronson's tone. Check out all of the Aladdin Sane LP.
Love the editing style, it’s great
This is cool, thanks for showing us how to achieve these tones!
My top 5:
1. Mark Knopfler
2. Jeff Beck (In paticular on the album Amused To Death by Roger Waters)
3. Derek Trucks
4. David Gilmour
5. Carlos Santa
Super list
She is just a beautiful person. Watching her stuff gives me confidence... insightful too!
Thank you! I subbed, and so should erbody.
Please do some more guitar tones, love these!
Creative, talented & such zeal for teaching! May G - - bless you in all you do!
Awesome video !
You’re so very talented 💫
Great presentation always nice when I can learn something thanks
Ayla, I just discovered this channel. You have a very approachable, chill, and fun vibe. Subscribed, thanks for the content!
Super informative and inspiring, thanks! The kind of video that makes me wanna go play guitar as soon as I'm done watching (which I'll be doing now)
Great video, thanks for taking the time to do this.
My favorite guitar tone is Brian May’s red special, absolutely rich and very well balanced.
the color on that strat is super cool
Best guitar teacher on the net! 🙌
Very helpful, thank you!
Your T-Rex tone is awesome. One of your contemporaries, TheDooo, has an exceptional, distinct tone.
You have great taste in music. Similar to my own. Great playing and videos. Thanks for the inspiration!
Moody Blues "bumble bee" fuzz is a great tone. Similar to the Guess Who on some of their songs too. E bow and the 10cc Gizmotron are interesting effects too.
Nice call - one of my favorite guitar sounds as well (“The Story In Your Eyes” is a great example)
Love the funk tones!
AND THE METERS?!!! Damn, Ayla! I'm from New Orleans and Leo has been one of my biggest guitar heroes my whole life.
Wonder if Bolan was inspired by Fripps 21st Century Schizoid Man from King Crimsons Court of the Crimson King...? Great album cover😉😎👍

THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED I JUST GOT A MODELING AMP AND I WAS WONDERING HOW TO DIAL IN A GREAT TONE
Nice song choices and tones.
We need Ayla videos about amplifiers. Can you plz?😄
I would love to see the Helix settings you used. Your tone sounds amazing
Marc Bolan’s amp was a HH mosfet 100 watt transistor 2x12 British made combo amp, the same ones used by Wilco Johnson in Doctor Feelgood.
What a brilliant video! Entertaining, inspiring and so helpful. Thank you Ayla!
Thanks 4 ur lessons, and tips, ur accent its beautiful

Favourite clean tone: "Little Wing", of course. Favourite distorted tone: "Modern Things" by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
It’d be cool to learn more about how you figured out *which* amps and pedals to use. That seems like the hardest part to me.
You are an amazing inspiration
Very pretty Les Paul you have. Also i like the ring you have on very pretty and i enjoy what you do thanks!
“A whole pile of guitar tracks…” You crack me up, Ayla!
Hello ayla. Love your soft spoken voice 😁
Oh, that Hall & Oates sounding wah/ phaser is incredible. Would go well with Sara Smile.
The original Woman Tone would be amazing too. I mean, just like Eric Clapton used it; an SG with a cranked amp.
My top 5:
Santana - Smooth
Rage Against The Machine - Vietnow
Cream - Sunshine Of Your Love
Jimi Hendrix - Little Wing
Aerosmith - What It Takes
Fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!! the almost unknown version of voodoo chile

Such a mature guitarist, an old soul ❤️
Hey. Great vid Ayla. So did you re-wire the button on an Ultra Strat to do the coil tapping? Obviously not a stock pickup either, right?
I’m not sure what my favorite guitar tone of all time is, but I really like the sound of the guitar on the song Wicked Game by Chris Isaak.
Your Voodoo Chile has such a great feel. Wow?
Hi from England Ayla. Your smile is beautiful. Love the channel. x
For Hendrix I found using the "Hendrix" string gauges made a huge difference in the bass notes.
Really nice guitar
Brilliant!
P.S. ... One of my favorite guitar tones is what the Eagles get on "I can't tell you why". Maybe you could do a video on those guitar parts sometime, or at least comment on them ... Thanks!
Wow, thanks! I need a lot of help in this area!
Have you tried Wes Montgomery's tone ? And the effect his thumb had on it? Great presentation will be looking and liking your back catalogue. Thanks.
Dann Huff guitar tone in Michael W. Smith, “Secret Ambition” is legendary to me
Ayla, your playing absolutetly blows my mind each time! I'd love to have you join my next World Wide Shred Collab!! 🥳🔥🎸🙌

Love her vibe 😎 very tubular
One of my favorite guitar tones is Brain Failure's "Coming Down to Beijing".
Also, Jimmy Eat World 's "The Middle".
Any chance you can make your Helix patches available?
