      Well I do have a curiosity based question if it isn't too much to ask for. That being. Are you able to fit 20oz bottles in slots 2-9? Or should you simply have 12oz cans there and only use the first larger slot for 20oz drinks?

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  2 роки тому +2

      @@asdasd-pi8pk You can use 20oz bottles in columns 1 through 9. Though, in columns 2 through 9 you will need to remove the rod and spring from the cradle. Then replace the 12oz can shim with a bottle shim. Adjust the back spacer to keep the bottles loosely pressed up again the sold out flap at the front of the column. I recommend about a 1/4" gab (an index finger's depth) between the rear bottle cap and the back spacer. Lastly, set the brown timing cam to either 2, 3, or 5. Which one is dependent upon the bottle size. This video explains how to adjust the timing cam. ( ua-cam.com/video/7Gb6bUHi7cA/v-deo.html ). I plan on creating a detailed video series that covers these steps in detail. I hope this helps.

    Quality video
    My only difference is in loading the coin mech
    I scroll around in the diag menu to CD (coin dump)
    then feed the coins into the coin mech as if you are buying a drink, the coins the mech wants will go into the change tubes, the coins it rejects will pop out into the change bowl.
    I find this way the machine and coin mech have " shook hands" and are working as one, it also tests the coin mech.

    got any info on priming a DNCB 320/184-7? it's an older machine without the bill acceptor / external controller

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  2 роки тому +1

      The DNCB 320/184-7 model machine would be what I call a single price drink machine. The price is set on the coin changer itself versus a control board. These drink vending machines use a vend relay / solenoid to pass power to the vend motor. The easiest way to prime these types of machines, and really any drink machine for that matter. Is too simply vend each individual selection using hard currency until two or three drinks drop consecutively. This can be done with the door open so you can watch the motors cycle. An alternative priming method is to actuate the power cherry switch on each vend motor with a small insulated screwdriver. For reference this video ( ua-cam.com/video/7Gb6bUHi7cA/v-deo.html ) explains how to adjust a timing cam on a 501e. The power cherry switch looks much like the home switch in the video. The motor cover will need to be removed to expose the vend motors. Actuate the cherry switch and allow the motor to cycle to its next notch. Repeat until two to three drinks have vended. I will see if I have a functioning single price drink machine at my shop to make a quick video in the future. Until then Please take EXTREME CAUTION and at your OWN RISK. There is high voltage running through the power cherry switch that passes onto the vend motor. I hope this helps.

    Question for you ..I have a Dixie narco 501 e and I have the first wide column set for cans with the 8 shims and the back spacer set properly . Timing cam is also set to 6 open notches . For some reason every 3rd or 4th vend I get a double vend any idea why ?

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  10 місяців тому

      The busing that is located where the oscillator joins the drive arm of the vend motor may be worn out. This can cause the oscillator to have too much left and right play. This can cause the issue you are explaining.

    Hello Alex, I need some insight for the following: We purchased a used 501e pop machine and placed it indoors in a recreation area. The fans seem to run all the time. We do hear the compressor kick on and off when cooling is required. Is there a configuration setting for indoor use versus outside operations? Our old DN (1984) version vending machine did not run the fans unless the compressor was called to cool the cold box.

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  Рік тому

      The EVAP fans on most Dixie Narco machined run 247. They are not tied to the compressor like the condenser fan is. New machines will now have the EVAP fans tied to a relay to turn them off when ever the door is open for energy conservation reasons. -sic Energy Star. Your older Dixie Narco has had one leg of the 110V power leading to the EVAP fan(s) tapped into one of the thermostat wires. When the thermostat is unsatisfied power is sent to the compressor and in turn powers the EVAP fans. If the fan(s) are loud there could be a problem with the motor(s) themselves. As in dried out bushings.

Any help greatly appreciated.

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  Рік тому

      @Christopher Sanchez Great suggestion! May be a bit before I can post one. So to get you back up into operation let me see if I can explain how to reassemble this assembly. Sequence is: Plastic Button -> Gray Rubber Strip -> Selection Membrane -> Metal Backing Plate -> 11/32 Nut. The confusing part I have found for many people is the gray rubber strip. This strip acts as the actuator to the selection membrane. If you look closely one side of the rubber strip has nine small hard plastic tips. This is the side that faced the selection membrane. The larger rounded side faces the actual clear plastic button. On the back bottom center of each clear plastic button there is a small raised area. The larger rounded side of the gray rubber strip should make contact at this point of the button. Hopefully this helps.

    Hi there, I have the Dixie Narco 276cc. It’s setup for 12oz cans right now. What would I need to do to set it up for 20oz Gatorade bottles or 16oz water bottles?

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  2 роки тому +1

      The Dixie Narco 276CC was manufactured by Dixie Narco for Coke-a-Cola. This denoted by the CC in the model name. There will be a few other identifying numbers in the model name that denotes the type of control board it is using. For example. DNCB-276E-SII would indicated that would be a broken down like this. Dixie Narco (DN) Cold Beverage (CB) 276 (Can Drink Capacity - This number is not always exact) E (Series) SII (Control Board). What is the complete model number of your machine? The will help narrow down what setting are needed. A side note. Take a hard look at the 16.9oz water bottle you are wanting to vend. Does the bottle make a crinkling sound when squeezed? If so, there is going to be a good chance that bottle will end up getting jammed or double vended. The newer water bottles are produced with thinner walls. This leads to vending issues when stacking 24 or 48 bottles on top of each other.

    I need to talk with someone about the programming of my 501e. It is full and ready to go, but selection 2 says it’s sold out when indeed it is full. I was reading that the programming should be checked before ruling it as a bad sold out switch ?

    • @VendingMachineSupport

      When you press the blue service mode button on the control board. Do you receive a JC-2 on the front display? Or when you closed the door on the machine did the display read HOMING? If so then there is a jam in that column. Remove all the products from that column 2 and the potential stuck drink. Then press the blue service mode button to receive the JC-2 error on the display. Then press and hold selection button one until the display reads HOMING. This will attempt to turn motor number 2 back to a home position. The current state of the sold out switches can be tested by the control board. This can be found by going to SP and SC under the DIAG menu. SP will show any sold out switches that are empty or OPEN. SC will show any sold out switches that are full or CLOSED.

    2 Quick questions:
    I filled the coin mech and the bill validator accepted cash but then it suddenly stopped accepting cash, what could be the cause?
    Is it possible to vend irregularly shaped bottles?

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  Рік тому +1

      Well done on the change and validator swap. If your bill acceptor suddenly stopped taking dollar bills. You may have not added enough coins to the coin tubes. 12 coins in each tube is the minimum. If you have plenty of coins in the coin tubes. Try making 5 to 6 vends using just coins. This will allow the control board to record the total value of coins entering into the tubes. This may bring your bill acceptor back online. In regards to bottle shapes. The Dixie Narco E series machines only work well with cylindrical shaped bottles or cans.

    I live in a cold winter state. My compressor broke. Will the winter keep my drinks cold until I can get a compressor?

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  Рік тому

      @Show Runner This is a tricky question to answer. I will assume your machine will be located outside. The quick answer is that you will just need to monitor the internal temperature. The worry is not will it be cold enough but will it get to cold internally. The ideal temperature range for drinks is between 36F and 40F. Diet soda will start to freeze at 34F. Now, the evaporator fan that circulates the air inside the machine which runs all the time will put off heat. This sometimes is just enough to keep the drink from freezing. I have, in the past for my customers, wired in incandescent light bulbs that would sit in the bottom of the drink machine near the evaporator coil. The light bulb radiated enough heat to keep the drinks from freezing and, with a working compressor, keeps the drink at a consumable temperature.

    • @VendingMachineSupport

      There could be a several issues causing this. Check to make sure there are no jammed coins in the coin changer. Jammed coins can lead to the coin changer instantly rejecting any incoming coins. If you can't find any jammed coins even after removing discriminator (the top portion of the coin changer) from the chassis if the coin changer the problem could be the coin changer it self.

    Hey Alex, I want to know if we need nickels and dimes in the 501e. Our machine was built in 4th quarter of 1999. We only use quarters for our pop. We set the price to $ .75 ..

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  Рік тому

      You will need a minimum of 12 coins in each tube if you want to accept $1.00 bills if equipped with a bill acceptor. If all your drinks are set to .75 then you need to think of all the combinations of coins that can be equal or greater the .75. For example. If a customer was to insert two quarters and three dimes equaling .80. Then the machine will need to be able to pay the customer back a nickel in change. So rule of thumb is always load each tube with coins. 12 coins in each tube is the minimum. This video may help to understand more: ua-cam.com/video/4Zoej4twAz0/v-deo.html

      @Daniel Enriquez I am assuming that you have an E-series model drink machine. If that is the case and the bill acceptor is on. Then you know you are getting power to the control board. It could be that the red LED display for the machine is not working or the harness to the red LED display is not securely connected at either end. There is not a separate on and off switch to the control board on an E series drink machine.

      @@jonathanguerrero1078 There aren't any settings on the S2D (501e) control board that needs to be set for the credit card reader. Though the S2D control board should be using firmware 381.xx or greater for the best results. Navigate to: HD -> DIAG -> VERS. Then push selection button 1 to show current firmware version. The firmware can be updated via an EPROM replacement which is not very difficult to do. It is on my list of topics to cover in future videos.

      @VendingMachineSupport  Рік тому +1

      You can run both cans and bottles in the Dixie Narco E series of machines. Both cans and bottles are primed the same way. Though each column must be loaded with either a can or a bottle not a mix of the two. For example. If column three has been set for bottles then it must be loaded with bottles. Each column can be reconfigured for a bottle or a can product.

      @@VendingMachineSupport Sadly...we spent 4 hours today thinking we were going to just load the machine close the door and vend. Came home defeated :( After loading we realized the 'sold out' flap was not disengaged so after unloading (tuition of life, grrr) we spent way too much time trying to figure out what to do to fix that problem. We adjusted the back metal 'bar' (depth spacer?) to put 3 cans in and 2 bottles, problem seemed solved. Then we followed your video to prime the columns, first column dispensed ok, the rest were dropping 2 or 3 cans (we lost several :( now we're centless). Again way too much time to find out about shims and then once we set the price and tried to vend only button 2 would work. Shut the door, unplugged it and threw in the towel for the day :(
      So what are shims, how do I find them and once I get the machine set up for cans, how do I get it to vend? TY

    • @VendingMachineSupport
      @VendingMachineSupport  Рік тому

      @neddy707 Sorry to learn of your issues and I understand how frustrated you may be towards this process. A complete video guide on how to install shims, rods, and to setup a Dixie Narco 501e for different drinks sizes in general is in the works. Until then, from your description it appears there are a few issues at hand. First. Make sure the timing cams on the motors are set for the product size you are vending. Here is a quick video I made explaining how to adjust these: ( ua-cam.com/video/7Gb6bUHi7cA/v-deo.html ).
      In the way of shims. If the machine was previously set up for bottles then you will need 12oz can shims. Typically there is a diagram on the inside of the inner door that explains the shims required and what adjustments need to made. For selections 2 thru 9: x8 12oz can shims and x8 rods and springs will be needed. For selection 1: x8 plastic can shims will be needed. Here are a few links to complete 12oz can conversion kits for the 501E: (www.veii.com/SHIM-KIT-12-OZ-CAN-FOR-DIXIE) or (www.dsvendinginc.com/p-2041-d60907260004-dn-501e600e-conversion-kit-12-oz-can.aspx). Please note that I have no affiliation with either of the these two companies.
      How to install these shims is a topic to large place into this reply. I have an old video I made about 10 years ago where I strapped a GoPro on my head while I installed 12 oz can shims into a Dixie Narco 501E. I will upload this video this week and use it as a place holder until I am finished with the new version. I know this is a topic that is in need.
      Hang in there and don't give up on the machine. The good thing is once you setup one selection for the narrow columns. Just copy and paster those settings to the remaining columns. I hope this helps and best of luck.

    • @VendingMachineSupport

      Yes but it requires a kit that is no longer available to my knowledge. If memory serves me correctly. The kit consisted of a few rod & springs with colored plastic lifters that slid over the rods. As well as a side shim and back spacer adaptor. It is more trouble than it is worth in my opinion. Stick with 12oz, 16oz Cans, 16.9oz, 20oz, and 24oz bottles to reduce the chances of jams and double vends.

      @VendingMachineSupport  2 роки тому

      @@vicnestico3137 Correct. That is the motor fuse or known as the F2 Fuse. It is 6amps. Something could possible be jammed in your machine that caused this fuse to blow. For reference. The F3 (1amp) fuse is for your peripherals like coin changer and dollar bill validator. F1 (1.6amp) fuse is for the main control board. Get a couple of the 6amp motor fuse as this will blow more frequently. Check to make sure you do not have a pinched or jammed product at the bottom of your columns.
