Just what I've been looking for thanks Eric. Had multi output set up in Logic with SD3 feeding my Logic Drummer track. I just wasn't getting the individual tracks coming through until I switched the SD3 mixer to multi also thanks to your video. All good now!
Just one question regarding stereo/mono. Im throwing on a gain plug in and switching to mono for each track. I don't have Pro Tools so would this be the best/satisfactory option to switch to mono for a Logic only user?

Great video, thanks it was very helpful; separate question: do you also encounter that the shortcuts of SD3 (like backspace to delete a note, cmd-z to undo etc) don't work when using SD3 inside logic pro x?
Amazing tutorial. Thanks so much. Any recommendations on sequencing? I find the piano roll sequencer in Logic to be pretty lacking. I'm thinking of getting SD3 and so I'm guessing it has a pretty comprehensive sequencer built in?
Great Video! When I bounce a SD3 track to audio from an SD3 instance - the levels of the wav files when dragged and dropped in Logic appear to be low. Wav files are small. Do you know how to increase possibly the output level so when I share drum parts with other band members using Logic they don't have to max them out on there end? When I bounce the Bus's I increase the output level to 12 DB - but it's still creating low wav files.
When you add the tracks into your DAW. Do they need to be instrument tracks? Or audio tracks? Great video. I came from Superior Drummer two and this definitely is a new learning curve with superior drummer three.
It's a midi instrument, so it opens always in a DAW instrument track. Instrument track is then altered to multi output.
hey man, do you think it will be necessary for me to do all this routing and mixing if i'm using a preset that i bought from someone who's already done professional mixing? his youtube channel is recreationmixes. very impressive stuff. i'm new to all of this.
I routed everything as shown but when I hit my snare it shows that it’s effecting my kick track(out 1/2) how do I seperate them ???
Issue with this in logic is the tracks are all in stereo. In Pro Tools you can route the drums to input 3 of 3/4 for example and it will be mono.
I completely agree. I often use Pro Tools just for getting the drums stems in mono from SD3, then bounce and bring them back into Logic. I also use the burl b32 summing mixer, so my kick and snare, mono room, etc is true mono. Sometimes, I'll throw a gain plugin on a stereo track and switch it to mono. There are many options, whatever works best for you is the right option. Thanks for watching and happy drumming!
I’m literally a year late to respond here - also don’t have Logic in front of me right now
But can you not route each of the multi outputs (3/4, 5/6 etc.) to its own bus and then set the bus to mono? By clicking the double circle above the fader?!
@@cl0ux yea you could do that but my point was you don’t have to in Protools. You can have 3/4 left be kick in and 3/4 right be kick out and now both tracks will be mono. No need for additional buss’ and routing like that you would in Logic
You can't bus in mono for SD3 in Logic which suck very much.
