Sad. It was Paradise. So clean.
Great video, Egypt was better than nowadays !
OMG that's so like the short documentaries we used to see in cinemas in Cairo... The voice over...
Your videos are incredible.
Immediately before the catastrophic revolution of Nasser. Egypt was a paradise.
Hagag Hamed
Hagag Hamed

The 1950s and 1960s (the Nasser era) was the best for Egypt in its history as culture, social justice, technology and industrialisation were very high. Nasser himself was a true world statesman and made his country an effective player in world politics and an disputed leader for the Arab World. Shortly after this film the High Dam was built and the United Arab Republic was formed before there was a European Union. Proud to have lived in Cairo those years.
Have you lived there at least during the Farouk Presidency?
@@Krist_Mal008 No I didn’t, not that old. But Farouq wasn’t a president he was a king who ruled from under the thumb of the British. Still Cairo and Alexandria were beautiful cities but luxury living was enjoyed only by 1% (mostly ethnic Europeans/Turkish, like the king) while the rest of the people suffered hardship. I am not Egyptian myself but studied in Cairo. Egyptian universities in the 1960s had the reputation of being the best in the Arab world, nowadays they are probably the worst
Sputnik 1 damn, yea but at-least you been in that era. After a multiple research i have done, it turned out king Farouk had a polish roots and wasn’t technically ruling since Britian had the ultimate decisions, they claimed giving society the freedom, justice and democracy and labor. However this is just to absorb the society anger, but i think King Farouk had much love for the citizens that he was sharing meals during fasting month letting people from all walks of life into his palace, currency was solid that only one pound was almost equal to 3US$ now that is something. Lending loans away to other EU countries such as Beligum. I heard that right after the 23 July revolutions you can sense something wrong is occuring, life os not the same after Farouk. Corruption happend in bigger picture and soliders presence in the streets became very popular and how badly they treat people after revolution. I myself live in NYC but after seeing quality of life during the 1930-1940-1950 mostly it looked almost identical to US lifestyle 1950 women dressed nicely and very stunning snd goregous and average men were very gentle that you would only see suits in the street and how peacful and loving they were to each other. my heart start pumping n knocking hardly because of what happend to old egypt though.
@@Krist_Mal008 “Ordinary Egyptians having ramadan food in palace”? Never heard of it and honestly I don’t believe it, unless they were “very special” ordinary people. Still I believe Farouk had a good heart, he just was not built with enough bad genes to be a leader, unlike other Arab kings) Most Egyptians were excessively poor and hungry. Millions ate only bread and onion (in a good day perhaps some cheese). They were poor compared to their Arab neighbours in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria (and they still are). Be careful when reading about that history because Nasser died but his enemies are still around (like feudalism, Islamists, the pro America/ Israeli) and all seized power in Egypt and turned its policies 180 degrees and embarked into a campaign to smear Nasser and everything he stood for. The Internet is full with videos that show how beautiful Cairo was but most of Egypt was not Cairo but was poor and miserable. In fact, most of Cairo was also poor but those days nobody bothered to film it. Until the 1980s nobody claimed Egypt was paradise under the monarchy because the people who lived the era were still alive and knew what was the truth. Only in the last 20 or 30 years such claims became loud
Sputnik 1 the worst ??? As a Dutch I can say Egypt is one of the most stable countrys in the Middle East and Africa, Egypt is safe and the economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world, and according to a study of BBC Egypt is safer than both UK and US and is the safest country in Africa and just as safe as denmark don’t say anything if you are not sure
