The population is highly polarized: the sub-Egypt of the poor and the super-Egypt of the rich. Of course this polarization is worldwide but not as steep as the Egyptians. The girls get married around the age of 11. School is not compulsory, but the army does. Girls don't go to school. If in Tunisia I met troglodytes who sent their daughters to college, in Egypt a girl at school would be a great shame. The tip is a "national sport", a bargain an emblem. Negotiation is not necessarily the problem, but the aggressiveness with which it is practiced. It is difficult for a European to have a relationship with a man bewildered by fate, where the negotiation is very similar to our begging, doubled by the arrogance of the fool who fooled you. It is very difficult for you to feel sorry for some people without honor. Thanks to the divinity that I was not born in Egypt Egypt is a homogeneous mixture of fascination and disappointment.
Egypt is one of the top places on my bucket list. I am enthralled with Egyptian history and archaeology. This is a beautiful representation of the people, culture, and spirit of Egypt. I am dying to experience it for myself. I want to stand under those ancient columns, walk the markets, see the flowing Nile, the great pyramids and the Sphinx. Thank you for this.
Save up some money, get a passport, and take 2 or 3 weeks to do a trip. An American couple I watched on here just did it last month in February 2022 and it didn't look as dangerous as when I went in 2009 for a couple weeks. You'll get harassed and heckled about money often, but there are plenty of armed police in most areas a tourist might go to ensure you don't get mugged or attacked by bandits. While Egypt is quite cheap to do on your own booking your own flight and staying in guesthouses and hiring your own car drivers, sail boats, and motor boats, many take a Nile River cruise package tour which are really expensive, but much easier so many retirees and family go that option instead of going out in the their really rough real world alone on your own.
