@michaellorenz7177 Incorrect, we do use grams. Otherwise, no, the metric system lacks practicality so we generally don't bother. The rest of the world uses the metric system because fractional math is simply too difficult for the slow-witted.
I know we use the metric system, use it every day. The fact that other forms of measurement are very often used in our culture is low hanging fruit in the joke world. Get a step ladder if you can't reach...
Wow I think I found the next bass to dream over. I recently had my right leg amputated and I had to switch to a Steinberger Spirit bass due to the weight. I would love to have somthing like this with the full body but still light as hell. Really nice demo !!!! As usual your videos are great.
I already own one of these. It has to be my absolute favourite bass. It is a 5 string that feels like a 4 string to play in all the right ways. I'm a big slapper and tapper and could not recommend it more. Just wish Strandberg would make more basses with 4,5 and 6 string variants
My doctor might want me to play it but he better makes my Insurance cover it because my wallet has a stroke thinking about it. Jokes aside it looks and sounds amazing.
I’ve got the Strandberg Boden Bass and it’s absolutely wonderful. I own 12 basses and this one gets 90% of my playing time. Light, powerful low end, the neck is crazy good and it’s just super comfortable to play. Only minor downside is the gigbag isn’t very good.
I have this bass too. When you play standing with a strap its not good. The pick ups dark glass are the best I have ever used. The gig bag is fine I tour with it...
@@soopahsoopah it’s very thin. The bottom has almost no real padding so if you put it down on hard ground you can hear a thunk from the strap pin. The neck isn’t well supported. The higher quality guitar bag (voyager bag) is much better but this one is terrible. It’s ok I just chuck it in a mono but that then defeats the object of a smaller bass to carry.
Thanks for having Dr. Kurtz on. I had some ulnar nerve issues last year due to playing with bad form and his videos were great for helping me get back on track with better habits.
Thanks for the video! I would love to see more play time with the single coil set ups, in passive as well. Like how close can it get to a p bass, jazz bass, etc. The single coil sound in the video reminded me of a jazz bass! :)
Thought the same, but the doctor still bends his right hand when playing.. so there goes one selling point 😂. I hope I get the opportunity to try one out though to learn otherwise! 😄
i got a Keisel Zeus 5 string for similar reasons. Long cover gigs with a heavy bass was KILLING my shoulder. did i get some funny looks for playing a headless? sure, but the beneffits were awesome. Headless is also really nice for playing on cramped stages.
I bought one of their guitars and I was hesitant, but I noticed a lot of jazz and fusion players were using them and I was like why get another guitar that was designed in 1950 whatever. Honestly I can't seem to play my regular guitars as long. I'm starting to look at their basses, I'm now sold on the headless thing.
I might have missed something, but the only difference between this model and the initially revealed models are the pickups and tops right? Loved Frank's playing regardless.
Definitely need a lighter more ergonomic bass. My back is not happy after standing through a show with my Jazz or especially MTD 6. Any other basses that fit into this weight category?
Hello. I'm looking for a light bass that sounds good in good quality, that will last over time, and was wondering if you could do a comparison between the following basses: Cort Artisan Space 5 bass guitar Strandberg Boden Prog 5 Ibanez EHB1505MS Meta Guitars Veil long scale 5string BassLab STD-Bass and L-Bow-Bass all 5string and then also get to hear you describe what you think of them and how it feels to play on the different basses.
When Frank plays a bass I want, I have to watch with the sound off first. He’s so good, *every* bass sounds like gold in his hands! Instead, I follow a simple rule. Just watch the face! The Bassier the Face, the better the Bass! I saw Frank’s face when he beat on that bass, so I KNOW I need one! 😅 (What does a Tribe Shob do to Frank’s face, I wonder…? 🤔)
I have the 5 string Prog bass. Its way too perfect, very Swedish. All the string tension are the same, a big achievement but that's the problem, very Swedish again. It took me months to get use to it...perfect tension as oppose a P bass which has some funky character. You notice the doctor, when he is sitting, the upper part of the neck sits out about a 45 degree angle enabling him to easily reach the top part of the bass. When I use a strap playing out live the bass neck is perpendicular to the body making it very hard to reach the top part of the the bass compounded by the wider fret spacing. My model has the Dark Glass pre-amp which might be the best plug in the board sound I have ever gotten. In all a great bass, its my main ax but the standing situation has not been resolved yet.
yes, these are on a completely different level. I was surprised who good they sound despite their low weight. The pickups seem to make a huge difference
Pfft. I didn't need the expense, guys! I love my Ibanez 1265ms for many of the same reasons, but the sculpted neck and cut outs on this are really selling me. I also like the Fishmans from my Dimension, although like that one, the split coil on this seems useless to me. The full settings all sound great, though. ty To the Doc! He basically just told you every injury I have.
Build this bass is Sweden and get the payment :). My ibanez about 3 times less expensive but made by the same people in the same factory in Indonesia 😂😂 and sounds great
@@Infectedbyevil ah yes ok my bad! Love the BtB’s great value for money and well made (but not ergonomic). I have a EHB1505ms aside of my Strandberg… would say it sounds better, but the build quality is shameful
Thank you for the review, commentary and playing... and medical advice. I'm curious. What is the space you record in? Do you have a store - or what is it you do outside of filming videos (I assume it's probably music related)? All the best!

Sounds great, and looks a very high end bass at £3500... The million dollar question for me is, why does it only have a "gig bag"?, it needs a proper, quality hard case.., and I would expect that on something of this value... - Just saying..
I see your point, but personally I'm always happy when basses ship with gigbags instead. Too many cases taking up too much space... never know where to put them. Ok... I own too many basses ;)
Yah that is a bit of an issue for me. I was looking at a Dingwall Nolly and it's hard to get excited about a $2700 made in China bass. I went with a used Kiesel Zeus. $1400 for a swamp ash multi scale 6 string was to hard to pass up.
Really good bass, it has all i want in just one instrument, but bass aside, Chiropractors aren't real doctors, are they? at least in my country they are seen as scammers
But the strap pins are not placed very well, very good for the balance but having schaller strap locks, it just digs into my chest while playing, super annoying! (and the bridge / saddle design is atrocious). But overall, yes, it plays like a dream :)
I have a boden prog bass and I freaking LOVE it, my only complaint is that they dont make a 6 string and as far as i know have no plans to make one, I would buy it in a heartbeat!!!
Did anyone here compare the Strandberg Boden basses with the Ibanez EHB series? They are both made in Indonesia and I have to say my Ehb1000s was a good deal for less than €1000
Frank has the best bass face ever!
He sure looks like he's straining to squeeze out that perfect note.
Or he has an eaten enough fiber.

DAMN! At 4:00 Frank does the most aggressive thing I have ever seen by a bass player 🤣 He is fantastic!!! 😍
Frank is such a versatile bassist.

I really like this. A light ergonomic 5 string. Just need to think of i can get used to fanned frets.
WE NEED MORE FRANK!!!
The Ibanez EMB series completely changed the way I see headless basses. I doubt I will ever go back to playing a full size bass live.
I hope they release a 37"MS someday
Do they come in four string?
I love every single one of your videos sir. You are a brilliant presenter!
Frank’s bass face on a t-shirt 😂 amazing.
Thank you guys. Modern, very nice sound indeed. It has its price though right

You should talk about the upper horn not extending to the 12th fret, which affects where the bass sits when you're wearing it standing up.

Stock strings, not sure which type and gauge
