I'm surprised at how much the pretty bits cost. But at 3800 miles and with all those replacement parts that is a brand new bike. Amazed at how good it looks. It could be a 2024 model. It is genuinely one of the nicest sports bikes out there.
Great to see this GSXR return to such beautiful condition. Well done for the commitment to keep this project as standard as possible. I 100% agree with you that the GSXR 750 is one of, if not the most competent and useable of sports bikes ever produced. I look forward to the next instalment.
You just can't beat that 'OEM plus' style of modifications. The carbon fibre front guard giving just a hint of what's potentially lurking undernear. Excellent choice sir 👏
Neevesy you speak so well about the gsxr 750 that you inspired and convinced me to pick one up. Proud owner of a k8 750 with 9000 miles. Love this machine already and I’m keen to follow in your footsteps with regards the decat modification without making it too loud. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and knowledge. You’ve made me a better biker 👍
Hey Neevesy, glad you got the bike you wanted, looks really sharp! I've done up a couple 11-16 GSXR 750's for guys over the years, Currently have a 2013 in the garage for a good friend, very similar build (Evening rides/Max Track day fun/performance). My go to for fixing the brakes on these bikes, is Motul 5.1 Fluid, that I pull thru the system using a MityVac Hand Pump. You already have the Brembo Master and HEL lines, SBS pads are great in the stock calipers (We run Vesrah Pads from Japan) . When it comes to the rotors, the stock pads leave a lot of material on the stock rotors, so you ever have to have them either sand blasted or machined, so the SBS pads have fresh uncontaminated surfaces to bite/bed into. The other option is Genuine Brembo rotors, which are thicker, and have better heat dissipation with with drilled pattern. In terms of the bike feeling fluffy down low, that is most likely a failing fuel pump, but it could also have a vaccum leak somewhere. There is alot of power and performance to be had, with a De-cat pipe and Flash (don't use a power commander) esp with the ignition restrictions. Best of luck, looking forward to see how you get on!
Thank you for sharing sir! I’ve randomly (or not really?) discovered your channel and have started appreciating the wisdom you share in a chill manner :)
Complete opposite from my Gsxr750 project. I bought a rough but running, naked converted (motocross style bars) K1 750 for £800. Spent £1200 and a lot of my hrs getting all the maintenance up to date and rebuilding brakes and suspension. Added hand guards and crash bungs for trackdays. Cleaned it up but left it a bit tatty so I don't have to worry about it and just ride it as much as I can. Cracks me up when other riders can't get their head around how quick the bike is in the real world 😂
good approach mate. I did the same with my K5 600.. Bought it with minimal crash damage on its left side. Fiberglassed, painted myself, it doesn't look great but it is fully functional, and it does everything I want. Track days, commuting, small tours etc.. Bought it with 21K miles on the clock, now it's at 82K already, bulletproof, love it..
I bought my K6GSXR 1000 8500 miles mint ,,all standard,,£4900 now I spent £4500 wheels, ohlins,,discs ,rear sets ,,st bar conversion,, I'm 58 and love it ,,we all do it,,☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ enjoy it from northern Ireland
Buying a new bike is one thing Bringing back a legend as good as new is another🔥. Pretty sure there’s gonna be nothing like this launching in the future (including the potential R9) Great job Neevesy…Big fan 🙌🏽
Looks great Michael 👍 Yes the bike is dated now but sometimes its just about the nostalgia and pure joy of a machine even if its just for the odd weekend. The GSXR 750 is such a unique bike despite how common they were ! Just enjoy it now 🎉
Thanks for doing this series. If you ever want to stop riding this fine motorcycle just put it in your living room as a exquisite piece of furniture! Cheers!
Love the shot of the bike with Normanton Church in the background, I regularly ride out to that exact spot during summer evenings for some peace and quiet. Gate is usually closed at the top for me though.
I bought a new K8 GSX-R 750. Used it for daily commuting and put over 66k miles on it. Never let me down once. Putting heated grips on it made the winters more bareable. Sold it for a BMW Rninety, cafe racer spec.
Hi Neevesey, I've loved this series, and I love the GSX-R750s. You've made a dream bike there, love it, ace! 😁 Hopefully, this won't be the last video for it, and I hope that you will give us an ep6 update episode next year on it. 🇬🇧🙂
As you said Neevesy, you've spent a fair bit but you've got the bike you always wanted, so not a hard decision to make. I have an 07 Street Triple and it seems mad that I'm considering £1k+ shocks for it when I could get a newer bike instead. But there you go, sometimes you've got to go with your heart.
I have one of these track only and I love it.. will never sell it. great to watch this series . keep up the good work. ive just had it mapped and got 132HP which is pretty good. enough for me anyway.
Random one from me: mainly why do you value dry miles (like, what does rain do to a bike to make it worse) and but also how do you trust that the seller is telling the truth? I've seen it plenty of adverts over the years "only ridden in the dry" or "never ever ridden in the rain" and I just chuckle at the absurdity that someone would trust them with just their word. Thanks! Love your content and is making me itch for a K4 GSX-R750 again :)
Hi Neevesy, thanks for sharing your rebuild project in such an honest way. As you might have seen from my previous comments, that I ended up in a L1 GSX-R600 while watching this series. I have to say, after testing all of the current middle weight sports bike, nothing gave me the excitement of the supersports bikes of last decade. And the GSX-R 600/750 is surprisingly spacious for my 5'10 body. Just four weeks after I bought the bike, I already put 1800km on the clock. Please keep the project alive, I look forward to learning how to improve my new pride and joy.
Suits you to a Tee Michael love it mate 👍 it’s a credit to you and of course the legend Bob. I use to ride a family member’s Slingshot hyper sports 1100 black and silver man what a beast that was , can’t remember the exact year but still have fond memories some thirty years later thanks for sharing. Cheers from Australia 🥂
Wow. I'll be more careful with My k8 now I know the price of parts! Best mods, quick shift, cat delete, flash and dyno, tooth down at the front, suspension tuned to rider weight is a must! What a great bike to own, never any regret with a gixxer 750. 😊
I've been waiting all day yesterday for this... :) Some time ago, a trackday friend let me ride his GSX-R750 on the track. I rode it for one session, but what a nice bike! I'm happy for you!
Love it. Something very satisfying about rebuilding a bike to a condition that you want with some modest performance tweaks. Things are only expensive if they don't do what you need or make you feel good
Bike looks mint. It's not the money, for the most part, but the peace of mind. Nothing about bikes is inexpensive, but at least when you DIY you know it's sorted.
Brilliant Neevesy. There is no price on fun. Getting a bike just so is one of the great experiences in motorcycling, it was the same for my K1 750. When they're right they're right. Thanks for all the honesty about the price as well, most people wouldn't do that.
Have really enjoyed the series, thanks! Got back into track riding this season after 24 years away. 2000 was the last year I rode in anger. A good friend let me ride his R6 at the local track. I resisted for many years. It turns out I squandered a few years of fun. It escalated quickly. An R6 now resides in my garage! And, the list of projects is slowly being ticked off. The most important of course is learning to ride again! I've barely scratched the outer surface of the proverbial onion.
Great series of videos on your 750 Michael really enjoyed them . Your passion for the bike and bikes in general really comes through the cost breakdown was very interesting 👍
Always lovely to see an older sport bike brought back to its full glory! Yes a lot of money but I would bet that bike will still be in your garage in 20 plus years and you will still love it! Still looking forward to seeing this on channel maybe even thrown into future group tests as a wild card
This has been a super fun series to follow. I’ve been researching for a sport bike purchase, and this has me seriously considering a GSXR 750. I can still get a new ‘24 or ‘25 here in the us for 13k, hopefully cheaper if I hit the dealers around the holidays. I’m about the same age as our host here, and raced 600’s and 750’s with no E trickery, it might be enjoyable again. Hell even my Triumph 1200XC is full of rider modes and ABS. I think it’s dumbed down my reflexes!
I have never seen a Yoshimura slip on exhaust canister like that -ever .. WOW ..heck I spent about S5300 USD at FBF rebuilding my road going 999 testastretta w/ an 120mm overbore kit, Pistals, corse cams.. race spec everything.. You now have a ONE OF A KIND GSXR 750 everyone needs to own something special, whatever it is, in their lives ..
Thanks for the video and information. Glad your happy with your acquisition its a beautiful bike. With all due respect makes me feel even more happy with my as new L0 Gixxer 750 which with only 4000kms I bought all up for $10000 Australian dollars which I think I was very lucky and fortunate to have found ((about 18 months ago) I reckon would be pretty close to half of what you paid. It was mint completely genuine no mods whatsoever, with no previous damage and completely standard in every aspect so not like yours with some pretty good modifications. Either way you got what you wanted as did I! Congrats what a bike!!
Hope your well mate, bike looking lovely 👍🏽😎🔥🔥, sometimes we go above budget to get our toys exactally the way we want, which is ok , it’s your bike and your mods / upgrades which are tailored to you, I think you’ve got a proper weapon mate there which will easily keep up with the masses 👍🏽🏍🏁, enjoy mate ! 👍🏽😎
Thanks its been an interesting series ... looks like lots of the cash went into the aesthetics, which is a personal thing, you have a big sentimental connection with that mode of bike so it makes sense, but it looks like making it into top track bike would have cost less because slightly scabby fairings wouldn't matter.
i have loved this journey.. I have L6 moto gp colour 750 and love it over other bikes I own. The panels definitely pushed your costs up, the other mods make perfect sense.( Not been out in the rain? why has the number plate shrunk ? 🤭) Can't wait til you de-cat quietly... I want to do that but don't want extra volume (age thing) love your weekly tubes..👍👍👍
She’s a beauty! Glad you e got it all done 👍 And yes a Panigale V2 probably is the closest modern bike to the performance and handling of the GXS-R750 and yes it’s more money even second hand but it cones with modern electronics and a bit more power, braided brake lines and Brembo Master cylinders and Calipers so no need for a brake upgrade I would guess. By the time you’ve finished what you want probably a second hand V2 with similar miles a few years old would not be much more! But then it’s not what you wanted which is fair enough.
A signed by Michael NEEVES Blue R GSX side fairing or the tail with 750 on it I would pay heavily for. Would be mint. You've been the deciding factor in the last 3 bikes Ive owned. Would make the man cave perfect
I toured Europe for years on a ZX-7 in my 30’s & early 40’s. In my late 50’s now & have a Street Triple 765 - soo comfortable … a lot faster as well (up to 80 when you turn into a sail)
The most important thing is you have ended up with the bike you wanted, and saved another great bike from languishing forever in someone’s garage. 😉👍 (I try not to think of the money I’ve spent on motorcycles over the last 50 years 😱!)
Absolutely MINT! Love the bike it's perfect. Interesting what you said about the bike sounds like its dropped cylinders at idle, and that it feels like it has traction control at low revs. I have exactly the same issue on my street triple. Mine was caused by a new lithium battery with different voltage/amps. I swapped my lithium back for OEM and the main problem went away. It still feels like it has traction control and when you pick-up the throttle out of the corner i thought exactly that! Made me laugh when you said it because i had the same thought! Anyway, good luck with it, worth spending a bit extra to get it perfect. What a bike!!
So glad you’ve got your dream bike. and are now fine tuning it. It must be a special bike with your back catalogue of road tests and long termers. I am presently looking for a nice Rd350lc for bike nights and weekend rides and have dusted off the rose tinted spectacles to find one
Great series, Neevsey. Dream bike. I found talking us through your thinking process especially interesting. More please, as you say, on the bike in action and, dare I say ask, whether you sometimes feel the bike is very nearly too good to use. Oh, and how about discussing security, insurance for a bike such as yours, which has probably cost quite a bit more than a conventional policy would pay out if the worst happened - you know the sort of thing.
Even though you've paid more in total than you wanted to, that includes some upgrades, you've got a bike that you can be confident in because it's put back together properly, and you know its history: That's worth any money over something that on face value might initially seem cheaper.
Congratulations, you have, like many of us, a bike that cost more than its worth. Financially, anyway. Though that is only money. Worth to the owner is a very different thing.
The 750 is an absolute track weapon, I know a few guys who can handle these accordingly... For the same kind of money I just bought a brand new super naked as a daily commuter and trackday goer.
Im in the process of fixing up a 2014 Anniversary edition GSXR750L4. Light damage. Just fairing bracket on the headlight and the front panels to go. Its mint otherwise. Enjoying the project. Should have the whole project done for £3538.25. Its done 7459miles. New set of Metzeler M9RR tyres fitted was the first thing. New brake lever, mirror etc etc. almost there. Need another weekend on it.
A year or two ago I would've wondered as to why you wouldn't get aftermarket fairings to replace the OEM. After going aftermarket for my K6 600 and seeing minor fitment issues on the plastics, I see exactly why now
Very nice! But my focus of attention immediately went to ... Bob's ramp. No euphemism, I mean the actual ramp in his van that he rolled your gixxer backwards down. If you get a moment, could you post on here what make is Bob's ramp? Thanks.
I had the 750 L1 off the back for your mcn review few years ago , to this day I'm yet to find a road bike that matched that bike , it was true what you said perfect power for the road , currently got the L7 1000 ... love it but truth be told I can't ride it like I could my 750
Beautiful bike, congrats, your satisfaction with it drips from the screen, it must feel awesome. I have two questions: 1- forgetting the price difference and forgetting the nostalgic value, if you could buy this exact bike with zero miles on the showroom or a new Panigale V2, each for 1 pound, but you can only buy one, which one would you ride home and why? 2- What are your personal expectations around the upcoming KTM 990 RCR? Do you think it could get close to this sweet spot between power, agility and comfort or do you think it will be closer to the likes of the Suzuki GSX 8r or the new Daytona 660, in the sense of more street comfort bias than track commitment? Thanks a lot for your videos and for your candid answers, it is truly engaging… Cheers from a Brazilian living in Germany 👊🏻
Interesting fact. In total you paid more than this would have cost new😮 and the most expensive one of these on eBay is 11 grand which is a MotoGP coloured one with £13000 of upgrades fitted so it seems expensive but you got the bike you wanted and it's clear you love it so pleased for you and I'm sure you'll get more from yours the most people do. 👍
Interesting vid. Looks great. No surprises that to do it right doesn't come cheap I guess. As a labour of love it's so important to get it exactly how you want if you're going to keep indefinitely so it's justifiable imo. It did cost quite a lot in the end but not crazy money by any means. Plus it's your money & bike so it doesn't really matter to anyone else does it lol. Would be interesting to see the dyno vid when you get round to it.
Thanks for this recap. Wow those fairings are pricy pffff.. But it's still cheaper than anything out there with this kinda power. And it will definitely last longer than any Ducati or KTM .. It would be interesting to get a new 660 Daytona and spec it up. Like: full exhaust, mapping, proper forks and suspension, brakes, etc,, I think that would be a fantastic project , documented on YT.. Maybe MCN and Triumph UK can sponsor it :D
Suzuki get you with those replacement oem panels dont they. Was thinking a grand for the lot but woooohoo. I need a front mudguard for mine but its blue unfortunately or id have brought your one. Might get a carbon one now ive seen yours. Great video as usual michael. 👌
I bought into my first track bike this year which was a k7 GSXR 750 …..long story short , I said to my father in-law who’s done track days all his life that I had an itch I needed to scratch at doing at track day , he made a few phone calls and a week later I was at Mallory doing my first track day on his mates k7 750…. It blew my mind and I was hooked , he was looking for someone to do a bike share with it so without hesitation I bought in , armed with new tyres and an oil change we booked Donington , I was beyond excited, we did two sessions each and he went out for his third session and never came back , he went straight from the track in an ambulance for an all inclusive stay to hospital for 4 days with broken hand and ribs after crashing going up towards McLeans , I can remember the guys pulling up outside side our pit garage with a box trailer on the back with what was left of the bike inside , my heart sank as he passed me a big pile of fairing plastics 😢 . The guy who crashed the bikes wife told him his track days were over so I decided to take a punt and rebuild it , I bought the necessary parts and race fairing and put it all back together and even painted it my self and have managed to do 4 track days on it at Donington so far this season , I really enjoyed the rebuild and unknowingly ended up with the perfect track bike as my first track bike . I’m totally obsessed and hopefully I’ll get two more track days in before the season ends until next year , I didn’t see myself at 53 getting into track days on a GSXR 750 putting some of your advice into practice on track but here we are . I feel lucky . Keep up the good content and invaluable advice on riding techniques Kind regards shaun
@@neevesybikesyes he’s recovered well , he came to watch me at the last evening session at donington with MSV , and I could see he was itching to get back out there , although I own the bike outright now I told him to book himself on the next track day and to come and have a go and I promised I wouldn’t tell his wife 😂
But you got the bike you wanted.. Priceless...Walk into your garage and the bike make you happy....That's what biking is all about.
I'm surprised at how much the pretty bits cost. But at 3800 miles and with all those replacement parts that is a brand new bike. Amazed at how good it looks. It could be a 2024 model. It is genuinely one of the nicest sports bikes out there.

It is not a lot of money for a dream come true. She found a good home. Congrats.
Got to be one of the best condition 10 yr old GSX 750 in the UK, now that's something from the wreckage of a crash. Well done that's admirable.
BIG thanks to Bob! What a friend and asset to humanity. 🙏❤
Can’t beat the old school simple road bikes, my 2009 fireblade, best raw bike ever owned

Good on you, Neevesy! It's really clear how much you love the bike, so it was worth every penny. And it looks mint after all the hard work.

Great perspective on a older bike
I’ve really enjoyed watching this series. Thanks for sharing and the insights Neevesy.
Nicely done, Neevesy. You have excellent taste. 👍👌
Awesome video! Beautiful bike for sure. Yes , you could get a new one though the cool factor is way way higher on this one. Plus the memories. Best!
I would say that is a serious bargain to get your dream bike. Congratulations. Delighted for you.
Exactly! Thank you 🙏
That turned out nicely 👌🏻
Excellent video. What a lovely motorbike. Money well spent in my view.
Good job man. Worth every dollar. Enjoy 👍😊
Beautiful job bike look amazing
i have loved this journey..
Lovely bike and you’re right definitely uncomfortable we are all getting older ! Lol.
Congrats! What a beauty!
She’s a beauty!
Glad you e got it all done 👍
And yes a Panigale V2 probably is the closest modern bike to the performance and handling of the GXS-R750 and yes it’s more money even second hand but it cones with modern electronics and a bit more power, braided brake lines and Brembo Master cylinders and Calipers so no need for a brake upgrade I would guess.
By the time you’ve finished what you want probably a second hand V2 with similar miles a few years old would not be much more!
But then it’s not what you wanted which is fair enough.
Exactly. I'd take this over a V2 all day long.
Beautiful bike. Good luck with it.
A signed by Michael NEEVES Blue R GSX side fairing or the tail with 750 on it I would pay heavily for. Would be mint. You've been the deciding factor in the last 3 bikes Ive owned. Would make the man cave perfect
Thanks mate. I think most people would pay not to have a signed piece of bodywork!
nice build and good you put those quality parts on
That's super reasonable to have your dream bike.
The bike's aesthetically superb. Best sort the fueling before an airstrip? Ta & enjoy!
(I try not to think of the money I’ve spent on motorcycles over the last 50 years 😱!)
Thanx for the share, very interesting 👍
Cheers mate, I'll give that a go!
Nice job. Really nice looking bike. Congrats.
So glad you’ve got your dream bike. and are now fine tuning it. It must be a special bike with your back catalogue of road tests and long termers. I am presently looking for a nice Rd350lc for bike nights and weekend rides and have dusted off the rose tinted spectacles to find one
Bike looks great 👍🏻
Another awesome video! Thanks MN!
After going aftermarket for my K6 600 and seeing minor fitment issues on the plastics, I see exactly why now
Really enjoyed that 🏍🏍
I'm pretty sure this is called love
Very nice! But my focus of attention immediately went to ... Bob's ramp. No euphemism, I mean the actual ramp in his van that he rolled your gixxer backwards down. If you get a moment, could you post on here what make is Bob's ramp? Thanks.
Hi mate. If you Google van wheelchair ramps, you'll see the kind of thing Bob has....
Good comment...I noticed that also 👍. Allows you to walk alongside the bike as you wheel it up and down.
I had the 750 L1 off the back for your mcn review few years ago , to this day I'm yet to find a road bike that matched that bike , it was true what you said perfect power for the road , currently got the L7 1000 ... love it but truth be told I can't ride it like I could my 750
Beautiful motorcycle!
Beautiful bike, congrats, your satisfaction with it drips from the screen, it must feel awesome. I have two questions:
1- forgetting the price difference and forgetting the nostalgic value, if you could buy this exact bike with zero miles on the showroom or a new Panigale V2, each for 1 pound, but you can only buy one, which one would you ride home and why?
2- What are your personal expectations around the upcoming KTM 990 RCR? Do you think it could get close to this sweet spot between power, agility and comfort or do you think it will be closer to the likes of the Suzuki GSX 8r or the new Daytona 660, in the sense of more street comfort bias than track commitment?
Thanks a lot for your videos and for your candid answers, it is truly engaging… Cheers from a Brazilian living in Germany 👊🏻
It's the bike you want. Making the cost worth it. :)
Great video Michael ive loved this series 👍🍻🏁
Keep up the good content and invaluable advice on riding techniques
Kind regards shaun
All's well that ends welll, eh? I hope your friend's better now, too?!
@@neevesybikesyes he’s recovered well , he came to watch me at the last evening session at donington with MSV , and I could see he was itching to get back out there , although I own the bike outright now I told him to book himself on the next track day and to come and have a go and I promised I wouldn’t tell his wife 😂
