@@ronaldlee2376 his bar is hanging back at an angle, where it should be angling forward , so the shedder at the end is at least level with the back wheel, as his was set up the bar is dragging through the crop which causes it to clog up,
As I'm sure others have said. Put your bucket on. If you run with the bucket level most of the seed and chaffe will collect in the bucket. Running the pallet forks basically fluffs up everything making it easier to suck into the engine. I would also recommend checking your air filter now too. If your radiator is filling up that fast you probably got some of that stuff packing into your air filter now too.
Usually we take the loader off of our tractor to brush hog, when the loader hits the weeds then they pop back up that seems to knock a lot of seed and dust into the air, with the loader off they just go under the tractor without much of a chance to pop back up. We also use a garden hose to wash the radiator if it’s clogged, it helps get everything out.
You can see the seed flying around in front camera. Them seeds and grass will sure do it. We use just regular grease in ours that leaks and just pump some grease in it from time to time. We been doing it for years. Enjoyed video Evan.
I always take my leaf blower with me when I bush hog, I leave my bucket on and hold it about 3 foot off the ground, you will be amazed at how much seed lands in that bucket before it gets to your screens
We had the same problem with our Massey Ferguson. We cleaned out the screens as you did but we also blew out the blades of the radiator. We got an extension for the end of our air chuck that had an "L" extension for the end and blew out the blades! Worked wonders.
You need a check valve at the T going to the pig and barn water or at the barn. If pressure is lost on the main water supply and then something is opened at the house, or hosebib the pig water barrel will most likely siphon back into the main water line and will go into house when pressure is restored. A cross connection always needs a check valve, and the direct hookup to the pig water barrel is a bad cross connection
Hey mate, put some fly screen on the front of your tractor. We use that for mowing high grass or on the bull bar of our ute (truck) when hunting pigs. It catches most of the seeds before it gets the radiator. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Id have raised the loader so it wasn't knocking off the seeds as you drove. The seeds will stay attached to the stems and not clog everything up as quickly. Also a good reason to keep the loader off the d-17. No need for 3 tractors with a loader
When I mow tall seedy stuff I put my bucket low and tilt it down a bit. That way as the seeds slide down the edge they fall out but that's mostly for reseed so you probably don't want that
With our bush hog, we open up the vent tube and pump it about 3/4 of the way full of corn head grease and on your tractor you might wanna blow out the cabin, air filter and the air filter for your motor
Evan, i noticed the position of your front bucket lift attachment was down well into the grass brushing off those seeds so your radiator filters were becoming clogged quickly. If you raise it up the next time so it is well clear of the top where those seeds are, when you need to brushhog a field that is overgrown it wont overheat nearly as often.
The many wonders of the leaf blower. It never fails to amaze how many times I see them used for multiple purposes. A lesson learned is rarely a bad thing but often hard to bear at the time.
Cooking overhead vent (screens) can be fashioned to protect your AC radiator. Just hold a piece of ribbon in front of the radiators to see it pull air when you're done and its not to restrictive.
My wife and I watch every episode and enjoy them all. When I have a problem with the pollen and seed pods getting in the radiator. I turn around and go backwards. I've done many acres this way- my neck was sore but the tractor did not over heat. Have a good day
Try a radiator genie. They make one for air and one for water. Always use the air one first and then wash the radiators with water. They get into tight places.
The yellow shield over the PTO shaft is not supposed to spin. Mine has a chain you clip onto the tractor to prevent it from spinning therefore nothing can wrap around it as it spins
Hey Evan my Dad always took some fine screen wire around the front of the tractor when he was working in tall grass. He could then clean it off and keep it out of the radiator..
Did a good job getting the mowing finished and hopefully slowed down the leak in the gear box on the brush hog. Thanks for sharing with us, stay safe and keep up the great videos and work . Fred.
Evan I can’t believe you haven’t bought a power grease gun yet. They rock. I bought one and couldn’t believe the time savings. Great video thank you for sharing . 👍👍👍👍👍
I ordered lock n lube foot operated grease gun. What is nice is you can use the 5 gallon buckets of grease saves money and the foot pump moves alot more grease. You might want to check it out.
Our 4020 had exterior engine screens that were spring loaded. We could clean them easily back in the 70's. Just wash them off. You should fabricate some screening material for the exterior of the tractor for mowing and having. It may keep that engine cooler. But you still need airflow. Good luck!
You should have Pete out in NY keep an eye out for a sickle bar mower, then you and Rebecca could have a road trip and stop and say hello to Patty, Ordin and Titus
Waiting til morning is a good idea. Dew on the grass will keep it from flying around. It will still stick but not as bad imo. Also you could cut in reverse.
Just a thought, maybe blow the seeds off in the field. If you blow the dirt and seeds near your barn where you have all the gravel, those seeds might grow and then you will have grass in the gravel, and another chore removing grass from the gravel area
I got a bushog that leaks i put 1 tube of greese and fill rest up with 140 weight gear oil. Been doing this for years it works great. Good luck your doing a good job
Hi Evan - Your forklift attachment was knocking all the weed seeds off the plants directly right into the front of the radiator's. you can see it @ 14:03 LOL Next time maybe attach a big piece of plywood or cardboard on the forklifts backstop or maybe put on the bucket attachment or as you said mow it sooner before it makes seeds.
Yup, came here to say to say this. Except I’d just raise that loader above the grass and it wouldn’t be knocking the seed off right in front of your tractor
Another great video Evan. Looks like those filters are doing a good job, I'd also take a look at the tractor air filter as that could probably do with a clean out too 😃
It's nice that you take accountability for your mistakes, I like your honesty. Good advice is always helpful, I had some great advice that helped make things easier for me, can never get too much of that. Have a good night!
Howdy Evan, pick yourself up an outside air conditioner mesh cover and wrap it over tractor hood grilles. I had to cut mine a bit but it works great when zip tied in place. It pre-filters all of the cooling air going into your radiator and is super easy to knock off the seed heads and pollen. When you're done, cut your zip ties and store it away for next time.
You might want to make sure that the pressure relief plug is working. When the oil heats up and expands which causes pressure that can cause the oil to blow out past the seal. Check out the parts list on the gearbox to see what type pressure relief plug is used and that yours is functioning properly.
Great video young man!! I run John Deere cornhead grease in every one of my gear boxs have for several years have never had any leaks or problems. I fill mine till it runs out the little plug where you pumped your in . Have a couple that don't have that just put it about half way in gear box. Check the oil level after you are done to see if it is still in the gear box.

Hey, just a thought about your pond . Maybe drain and clean out the muck. That might make for good fertilizer on your hay field . Arms family is draining his right now. Congrats on your retirement 👍
Be sure to make it a habit to clean the air filters periodically when the seasons are real dusty, and when brush hogging tall forge like you are use your bucket instead of forks. It helps as a deflector on those little seedlings.
Evan, I know these videos don’t show your whole process in cooling down your tractor. My comment is based on what I see on your video. I hope you are giving your tractor time to cool down before you shut it off. It is real easy to damage your engine shutting it off before it has a chance to cool down. Maybe a good thing to do would be consult your TYM dealer and ask them about overheating. I really do enjoy your videos!
I shut off the tractor, blow out the screen, (or else the engine fan keeps pulling the seeds in) after it is blown out, I restart the tractor and left the radiator do it's job and cool it down.
@@CountryViewAcres My Kubota does this, and I leave the tractor running, turn the heat on with the fan on high, and then clean out the screens. I have to use spray coil cleaner a couple of times a year to clean that out. It's hard to access all the radiator so you have to make some hose attachments that let you direct the water into hidden spots of the radiator fins to clean it as much as possible. It makes a BIG difference if you can keep it cleaned.
