I just experimented with gr beef jerky today. Rolled it out between parchment paper, cut with a knife and used a spatula to transfer to my pan. Cooked in the oven @170 for 3 hours. Plan to get a dehydrator one day!
Thanks for sharing this. I am about to make some this morning & my oven only goes down to 170° or bread proof at 100°. So I was wondering which one I should use. I'll try the 170° first. Thanks so much!! And thanks Cassie for teaching/sharing this method. You have so many Fantastic recipes.
My husband makes homemade jerky with ground elk, ground bison, or combo of the two. He loves the jerky gun! Easy and quick for him to lay strips on the silicone mats over dehydrator trays. He leaves in the dehydrator all day (probably about 10 hrs or so), and turns it half way through. Better than anything you could find in a store. Experiment! :)
If you want to try something really easy, get some carne picada beef, it's already sliced up real thin. I just take it out of the package and spread it out on dehydrator sheets in smallish chunks. Sprinkle with salt. Dehydrate. In my opinion it it is better than regular jetky. Its softer and has the right amount of fat to make it very tasty.
I would have tried the cookie press too. I love this video! Super funny editing 😂. I’m trying jerky next as I just found a dehydrator at a garage sale 👍🏻.
I bought a jerky gun and right out of the box it wouldn't work. Piece of junk. So I had to improvise too. I used my tortilla press. Works really well to go get thin rounds. Used parchment so I was able to quickly flip the rounds onto to trays using the parchment. The parchment peeled off easy. Reuse the same 2 parchment rounds for the whole batch. This makes great dog treats if you don't add any spices. 😊
Love this video! I experimented w jerkey a few years ago. Did it in the oven. Found the easiest way was ground beef, roll out as thin as possible to almost the size of your rack, dehydrate in one large piece, then cut w scissors after it's done. Now I need to go make some jerky! ❤❤
There's a guy on UA-cam that makes food not carnivore, I think his name is pepper belly Pete but he pronounces it "wash your sister sauce" and ever since I heard it that's how I say it😂
Press the meat between parchment paper (top and bottom), between two cutting boards or baking sheets! I like making "smash burgers" this way, super thin and I get a better crisp but usually use two dinner plates

Thanks for the video! I made my first pork belly jerky a month ago with a dehydrator I had stored away for years. It was very good - but it was plastic and decided to get a metal one. So I have one now that is so similar to yours. Planning to use it this week. I already buy Carnivore Crisps and Carnivore Snax and love them both. However, this will be a great way to make it my own way and much less expensive.

I do biltong, I use roast beef salt pepper and vinegar let it marinade overnight then put it in the dehydrator for 48 hours comes out great 👍 easy prep and a great snack turns 10kg roast beef into $100 per kilo carnivore biltong I don’t put coriander in it because it’s not compatible with carnivore you don’t have to put pepper in you can do just salt and apple cider vinegar which you don’t taste.

I can't wait to buy a dehydrator and make jerky! :) Thanks for the review of the Stainless Steel non BPA LondonSunshine equipment May you and yours 2024 be fruitful -JRoot
Awsome video! Since you asked 😉. I make jerky all the time, this is how I streamlined the process... salt definitely, seasonings your call. After mixing I put about 1 pound, (because that's how much fits on one of my racks after it's flattened) of the ground meat on a flexible, plastic cutting board. I just flatten it with my hands (hard to get the exact size you want with a rolling pin) into a rectangle a little smaller than the drying rack, so there's not really any trimming later. Then lay the drying rack on top and flip it over carefully and peel off the plastic cutting board. About halfway through the drying process I flip them over. Just before they're finished when still warm and pliable I cut them into whatever size strips I want with kitchen scissor or a knife. You can still put the pieces back in a little longer if needed. I personally find it's a little quicker/easier than a reloadable shooter device. But that's just me, thanks and keep up the great videos!
Well I laughed so hard in the beginning! But it was a great experience to see what you have done! Sorry to see that your first gun didn’t provide for you. Oh well!! I’m a long time maker of the jerky too and can’t wait to see someone’s else’s version! Keep up your great videos and your great work ! Thanks
I make Jerky too. It's my favorite on the go or to tired to cook meal. Lol. I have a nice dehydrator too. For those who don't, you can do it in your oven. If your oven won't allow you to lower the temp enough, just crack open the oven door a bit.
You've been churning out some great recipes. Me and my fiance are really enjoying your take on chuck roast in the oven. It somehow reminds me of coca cola... Delicious!!!!
Thanks for the video Cassie. I, too, have now pulled the trigger on ordering a jerky gun sitting in an open tab in my browser for several days. Not a big expense. How chewy or "bendy" was your final product?
I've played around with different times. The second batch I didn't let it go for as long, I think about 9ish hours and the texture was perfect for me! Much easier to eat. But it's all preference👍
I LOVE hamburger jerky! I also buy eye of round and slice it thin for some dang good jerky! i havent tried the Worch sauce but I will! I normally just use Redmond smoked salt. The apple pecan is da bomb. Thanks for this! Great reminder that i need to make jerky. (I bought my Nesco dehydrator in 2020 for $34 of Amazon. I'm so glad I sprung for it then. Crazy high now)
Thank you for this. Cassie, you and I have talked about my periodontal challenges and I think that hamburger jerky is a bet for me. I have a few ideas and I'll let you know if they pan out. You are so great and I love you and Larry so much for what you do. Don't try to respond to me. Just wanted to let you know.
In a poor man's steak recipe I used to do it called for mixing the ground beef and then refrigerating it overnight before cooking it. I am wondering what would happen if you did that with the jerky before laying it out in the dehydrator.....just a thought. @@CarnivoreQuest
I've been tempted for a while to try making my own jerky. My only fear is that I'd love it and have to worry about eating too much jerky. LOL It's real tempting to get one to try making jerky with smoked salt and smoked paprika. Or a lot of freshly ground black pepper.
You basically cannot over eat jerky… The pure protein satisfies…plus that unmistakeable chew is also so very satisfying! I eat 6 strips of bacon everyday for breakfast! Try it…you will love it‼😋😋😋 Gladys🇨🇦Toronto🇨🇦
Thanks for sharing Cassie! Larry has mentioned that he has false teeth, how does he find it to chew on? Are his falsies screwed into his jaw or removable? I have removeable ones and like to know how hard or easy it is to eat jerky. Thanks for all the time you spend helping us all on this journey :)
Next time dont cut them in strips just make the whole sheet then cut after, trust me i do this method with my smoker and smoke it at 150 celsius for 7 hours and its amazing
Simple I use a gallon freezer bag Place 2 chopsticks inside the bag, 1 down each side Fill up between them and roll it out Flip the lot over by holding the two sticks and the bottom pivoting on the counter Cookie cutter down the length in 4 or 5 strips and its done Thickness is consistent for equal drying time in the dehydrator You can vary the thickness by changing out different dowels Easy and no squishy Oh yes, the 2 sticks down the sides help you with your straight outside edged You can use any sized bag for the larger or smaller batches you are making..... So simple

Wow! Never thought to making my own. I was never going to give away my mother's rolling pin anyway, but now it be used again. Agree with you on not cooking in plastic. Our market has extra lean ground beef, which is awful, like cardboard to eat as hamburger, but should be ok for jerky. Just sorry i got rid of my Wooster sauce!
Lol, the wooosetshershersher sauce is an option. I love the flavor, but I'm sure salt only would be great too. 👍 Never give that rolling pin up. Have you seen my chicken chips short!?!? Another use for your moms rolling pin🥰

Okay, today is the day! I've gotten my Cabela's food dehydrator out and am cleaning it now. I'm anxious to give this a shot. For me, but also for my little dog Ruthie. She's never been a great eater and as small as she is, it's easy to share my carnivore with her. But, I learned the hard way that you can't give her fatty meats and she doesn't do good on standard raw foods. She loves hamburger cooked and crumbled and her stomach handles it. I bet she's going to love this and I know I will. I think I'm going to add some Hatch Green Chili Seasoning to my portion along with some other spices, but will make hers plain. Thanks again Cassie, I'll let you know.......
Well. I'm obsessed. I ordered pet grade rawhide sticks and they come today..My plan is to wrap unseasoned 90/10 hamburger around them and dehydrate my jerky that way for my Ruthie. I buy dog treats made that way and she likes them. She's a finicky eater and likes my pet jerky. So easy to feed her now and healthily. I'll let you know how they turn out. Ruthie's a smaller sized dog. it would probably get really expensive with larger dogs. @@CarnivoreQuest

"Work with what ya got"
That's what made me subscribe along with your *make it work and keep rolling with it* attitude.
Right on right on.
I can't wait to buy a dehydrator and make jerky! :) Thanks for the review of the Stainless Steel non BPA LondonSunshine equipment
May you and yours 2024 be fruitful

That was a wonderful attempt with the cookie press. I thought it was wonderful.
Hahaha I tried!
@@CarnivoreQuest That is wonderful
This dehydrator is now on my Christmas wish list
I have Buffalo chicken jerky on my to do list👍
Thanks
Great video. My first time seeing your channel. It seems like a nice place to be.
We are pretty unique! Lol So glad you found us👍
Steaks are super expensive, so this recipe works. It’s versatile and great for this hot weather. Great snack on the go
This is very good, maybe don't add cayenne on top. 🫨
Perfect timing Cassie! The one thing that i miss most on carnivore is Kuh-runch!! Thanks much!!!
Have you seen my chicken chips short???🐔🥰
@@CarnivoreQuestNot yet, but I'm on it!! I love you two SO much!
I make mine without the spices, just Redmond salt. I use a bottle as my rolling pin and share it with my 3 dogs
I watched a video and the guy said "Add your Wash-Your Sister Sauce" Hahahaha
Hahaha I don't think there's a wrong way to pronounce it🤣🤣🤣
You should try 2kk's meat thins. Steakumms into the dehydrator, from frozen to YUM in about 5 hrs @150°.
WOW
I used to love SteakUMs tooo
I thought about that but I'm not a fan of the flavor steakumms flavor
I LOVE hamburger jerky! I also buy eye of round and slice it thin for some dang good jerky! i havent tried the Worch sauce but I will! I normally just use Redmond smoked salt. The apple pecan is da bomb.
Thanks for this! Great reminder that i need to make jerky. (I bought my Nesco dehydrator in 2020 for $34 of Amazon. I'm so glad I sprung for it then. Crazy high now)
Oh wow! $34! When I make bottom round jerky I make a salt brine using smoked and sea salt! Amazing, it almost has a buttery flavor.
@@CarnivoreQuest oooo a brine. I like that! thx!
OMG …. This is Genius ❤❤❤
Thanks! It turned put better than i expected and the machine was as easy to use as they come👍
Thank you for this. Cassie, you and I have talked about my periodontal challenges and I think that hamburger jerky is a bet for me. I have a few ideas and I'll let you know if they pan out. You are so great and I love you and Larry so much for what you do. Don't try to respond to me. Just wanted to let you know.
Our second batch was made in less time and it was perfect👍
In a poor man's steak recipe I used to do it called for mixing the ground beef and then refrigerating it overnight before cooking it. I am wondering what would happen if you did that with the jerky before laying it out in the dehydrator.....just a thought. @@CarnivoreQuest
How long did you do it the 2nd time?@@CarnivoreQuest
8-9 hours...just periodically check on it🥰
Thank you! Really excited!
@@CarnivoreQuest
I've been tempted for a while to try making my own jerky. My only fear is that I'd love it and have to worry about eating too much jerky. LOL
It's real tempting to get one to try making jerky with smoked salt and smoked paprika. Or a lot of freshly ground black pepper.
You basically cannot over eat jerky…
The pure protein satisfies…plus that unmistakeable chew is also so very satisfying!
I eat 6 strips of bacon everyday for breakfast!
Try it…you will love it‼😋😋😋
Gladys🇨🇦Toronto🇨🇦
I've always made jerky at 165
How long does it take at 165?
Thanks for sharing Cassie! Larry has mentioned that he has false teeth, how does he find it to chew on? Are his falsies screwed into his jaw or removable? I have removeable ones and like to know how hard or easy it is to eat jerky. Thanks for all the time you spend helping us all on this journey :)
Larry here!! I have removable dentures and the ground beef jerky is wonderful. I had no problems chewing it and it was very enjoyable 👍
I might try this. I buy a quarter beef in the fall so have lots of ground beef.
Perfect!
Next time dont cut them in strips just make the whole sheet then cut after, trust me i do this method with my smoker and smoke it at 150 celsius for 7 hours and its amazing
That's a great idea👍
150 farenheight
Simple
I use a gallon freezer bag
Place 2 chopsticks inside the bag, 1 down each side
Fill up between them and roll it out
Flip the lot over by holding the two sticks and the bottom pivoting on the counter
Cookie cutter down the length in 4 or 5 strips and its done
Thickness is consistent for equal drying time in the dehydrator
You can vary the thickness by changing out different dowels
Easy and no squishy
Oh yes, the 2 sticks down the sides help you with your straight outside edged
You can use any sized bag for the larger or smaller batches you are making.....
So simple
Thank you!!🥰
Worcestershire sauce can be bought in powder form.
Ooooohhhh. I did not know this! Thank you👍
It is pronounced
wore-ste-sher. Yes they don't pronounce all the letters like we do in the States. 🤷
I love your Worcestershire tutorial‼
Note to Canadians🇨🇦Lea and Perrins in Canada 🇨🇦is not gluten free due to the fact it is prepared with BARLEY MALT VINEGAR…not white vinegar. Switch to 🇨🇦French’s brand which is gluten free‼‼‼
Well, i know what my next project is! 😍
So easy, cheap to make. How much are we spending in the store for jerky? Not to mention it's fresh👍 I love this dehydrator 🥰
Pasta roller! Just the part that rolls it flat. Before carnivore I used that for rolling out cut-out cookies and gingerbread for nice light crispy cookies.
The jerky gun will work quite nicely👍
Great graphics Larry I’m not a jerky fan but looks good
I'm really not either, but it was so good and so easy to make I have become one 👍
Oh my goodness. Can’t believe I treated myself on a whim like that. Order completed.
You treated yourself! Very cool Keli! I couldn't believe how easy it was to use and make. Dog treats are easy and clean!! The next recipe I'm trying is a Buffalo chicken jerky! I'll let you know how it turns out👍
Make mine with ground deer and use the jerky gun . Delicious
Yours will be delicious too
Hey, I would have tried the cookie press also.
Don't know til ya try👍
@@CarnivoreQuest I haven't seen it yet, but thanks for mentioning it. I'm starting a new recipe book just for Carnivore.
You crack me up! 😂
🥰🤣
Now I wish I had the tools to make this, it looks great!
Thanks for this. No slicing required! I may buy this dehydrator. I wonder how long it keeps unrefrigerated in a pouch?
It all depends, about two months in the fridge and if you get some of the silica gel packs they will last longer.
I think a week??? We eat them within a few days. 🤣🤣
That is cool stuff. I wish I had a dehydrator. I have a nuwave oven it is supposed to work as a dehydrator
There's a link below with a discount code. To be clear we don't earn a commission on these. They sent the dehydrator, asked if I would try it and gave us a discount code for y'all.👍
What are you waiting for⁉ Try dehydrating
And do not forget to dehydrate 🥓🥓🥓 bacon‼‼‼Enjoy‼
Gladys🇨🇦Toronto🇨🇦
@@gladysobrien1055 Not having funds that is what is holding me back from dehydrating
Why not put the rack on top of the meat upside and flip them both over at the same time?
Great idea Adam!👍🥰
😂😂🤣🤣Im die’n over here. Too funny 😂🤣😂🤣
🤣🤣🤣 The jerky gun works beautifully 👍
He. I use a tortilla press and a cookie spatula. Works great but you get a few weird shapes, which is fine. 😊
Sounds great! It all ends up in the same place!
LOL i let my ground beef jerky marinade overnight in spices mixed in 1 cup of water, just pour it in and mix, if its lean enough meat it wont hurt it at all and it will dehydrate just fine
I'ma lazy cook, I find using my tortilla press (with wax paper) works very good with a cookie/ice cream scoop to keep them uniform.
Great idea, I don't have one of those, but it sounds super simple! Thanks for sharing👍
Sorry, but if Cassie recommends a product you bet your rent I’m looking to get it.
Haha I am a little picky, just a little😘 jerky would make great food gifts, especially for guys!
Have you tried making flour from your jerky?
Not yet!! Have you?
Made it yesterday love it 😃.
Yay!!🥩🥰
I have so much hamburger as we have an entire steer in the freezer! Thanks for posting this video! Will it work even with fattier hamburger?
Any recipe I've found calls for a leaner fat content, but you can always try👍

2 Krazy Ketoes dehydrate SteakUMS‼
No problem there…. The problem here in Canada🇨🇦Is that our grocery stores do not sell SteakUMS ‼‼‼
Crowding the trays is not really an issue. As long as the meat strips are not touching, the air will circulate and after twelve hours, it will be fine.
Looks great!
It was! And the dehydrator was so easy to use👍
Thank you Cassie, it turned out wonderfully! I used Redmond's season salt, pepper and liquid smoke. Scrumptious!
Yumm! So glad it worked out for you! We're elevating our carnivore game👍
Have the 9 tray Excalibur since 2012 with fan in the back like you...plastic trays...not digital. Have to find a solution.

How many lb of finished jerky is that? Because for $14 and all day idk, that visually looked about that same about at I can for a similar price if the Tillamook No sugar jerky
Looks tasty and the dehydrator was sold out already!
Oh wow! It was very tasty! We've dialed it in even more. Practice makes better👍
Worcestershire sauce. That is also called “wash your sister” sauce!!
🤣🤣🤣
Wonderful recipe! I have had a food dehydrator taking up space, unused, since turning carnivore and this is the perfect idea to put it to use!!! 😊🥓🍳🧈🍗🥩🥚
Sounds like a great time to use it again. I just made some thin sliced sirloin jerky, man was it good👍
