I know this is a video intended for beginners but you can make a gold lich spear without leaving Chersonese. The voltaic hatchery enemies can be cleared easily with a couple trip wire traps to get the gold lich mechanisms and palladium scraps can be found in conflux mountain and ghost pass. This is one of my go-to starter weapons on a new character when I want to pack a little punch since the spear doesn't need firefly powder like the sword. Thanks for bringing attention to the range on these things, they can be great poke weapons for more patient and methodical players!
@@pentagram4872 No worries! I'm loving all the content coming out and with DE mixing things up. I hopped on the game while I was still watching the video to test that the palladium is still in ghost pass and the mechanisms still drop in the hatchery so I could give a more informed response in case they were removed for DE.
I am a polearm lover. Throughout history THE martial weapon has been the spear, pike, warhammer, glaive, poleaxe, halberdier, etc. reach > all the rest. It is not as flashy as the sword though and historically only people who wielded swords were the nobles and most stories center around them so. That's how we get more swords in popular media than spears. but spears are the quintessential weapon and should get more love. I just got this game btw and thought: maybe this game does spears right. AND it does! thank you for the tips my friend. may Odin bless your journeys.
@@kimashitawa8113 Mostly nobles and people of means. and swords were, in many cultures a sign of the elite. regular people in japan could not carry a sword. and compared to all other weapons at the time it was more expensive and harder to manufacture. You could have an arming sword and not be a noble sure. But odds were against it.
2:03 Actually triggering a running attack / charge / whatever can heavily work in your favour as these attacks tend to have huge recovery times, and are easy to avoid by walking / sprinting. It's one or two free hits. This aside the video is really well made. I'm glad the early game-carry-weapon is getting some recognition. I know it's meant for begginers but a word on vicious cycle would have been nice, it's a criminally underrated ability.
Nice guide on spears, keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to the next one. I ended up preferring the coverage of halberds and the crazy skill that is Moon Swipe, but I do agree that spears are safer so they're pretty great too.
I dont know if i ll cover all the weapons, have not played great hammer in a while and next one is probably going to be one handed mace. But i ll try a few things. Great hammers were kinda hard imo mainly because their dedicated skill is hard to hit without trading so not a beginner weapon. Thank you for the nice comment!
Some bags slow the decay of food, but the best thing is probably to turn ingredients into non perishables, like teas or potions. Some foods also rot slower like jerkys.
buy alchemist bags and throw them on the floor of your house(s) next to your storage. put your food in there. it will keep fresh waaaaaay longer than keeping it in your box, but you wont be able to see it from all houses. also get the Preservation Bag from the Vendavel quest (do Balira’s request, i.e. kill her wendigo husband) as it is a bigger version of the Alchemist bag, and use that to move food from area to area. preserve bag- 75 carry, alchemy bag- only 60 carry. that being said, you can put as much as you want in it if it’s just sitting on the floor like a bottomless mini fridge 😉. i know it’s been 5 months, but hey... maybe someone else will see this 🤷♂️
Lots of different things can work as usual. A tripple parry build using warrior monk skill tree seems a good base to start. Then i would probably go shamanic for the increased boon power and last speedster as the reach of the spear makes this skilltree more usable. Since we will be using a lot of skills maybe masterpiece spear with some cooldown reduction gear or physical damage increase ;). Hope i helped.
Bruh why does no one every understand spears? This guy gets the reach advantage but two handed spears switch attacks MUCH faster and outmaneuver swords by a long shot. Personally though, I train in spear and shield and have found out there are many different styles of spear, if you want speed, go with Somali, if you want easy to learn, go with viking, if you want really cool, fast, and best looking blocking, go with Mycenaean.
@@samuelepantaleo3358 Same, I always save cierzo so the chance of getting it is really low. You can get it if you just let the bandits destroy cierzo. Never gonna do it while normally playing/role playing. For a specific build? maybe
I stopped playing outward when going machete didn’t get me the results I wanted. Years later, some point between there, I played SAO IF and had a blast with a spear build (lost that account too 🥲) Just a few hours ago, I stumbled on a quick little vid on how to easily pay blood price, watched the guy kill hyenas with the fishing harpoon, and it just now occurred to me. “Why the f*** didn’t I ever use a spear???” Will be trying Outward again tonight 😅 I love these types of games but geez, if you become too closed minded for even a second it can be your end, in which you deny yourself an incredible adventure.

The idea that only nobles wielded swords is a misconception

the Lindybeige spear vs sword vid is great just for Lindy’s commentary alone 😂
Oh yes his videos are amazing and though as a french man i should despise him i quite like his personality

Yeah halberds are incredible, spear are just probably easier to pick up a slightly safer. Thank you for the support!
Very useful tips! Waiting for the Greathammer guide, very interesting to see what you'll recommend

Spearwill last u until bigger mobs/bosses that have more reach than spear.
Still good after that but it is true that you lose this specific advantage.
What kind of build would u use with the spear
