    This was a great help for me. I'm from GA, and because of my job, I've traveled all across the US but never hunted the areas I've been. Missed a lot of hunting seasons bc of it.
    I'm planning a trip to Colorado for an archery mule deer hunt for my first time ever. I'm looking at unit 20 bc the tag opportunity.
    Idk can't find anyone who wants to give advice. I can completely understand why.
    You guys do a great job of showing what it takes. Seeing you guys make me think I may need to find someone to go with instead of soloing it.
    Thanks

    If you've bowhunted long enough, then you've been in the situation of not knowing the actual range of the animal and misjudge. If it hasn't happened to you yet, trust me it will sooner or later. Great mule deer. He was a tank. Good luck on the next trip!

      Not necessarily speaking on this one…but don’t you think if you don’t know the range then you probably shouldn’t shoot? Seems like the ethical thing to do. Everyone always blames it on “it happens” but I think we need to leave the narrative behind. Missing an opportunity is better than wounding an animal.

    • @BrunkOutdoors
      @BrunkOutdoors  2 роки тому +2

      @@jameslivingston7031 I agree it’s best to have a yardage identified prior to a shot. That’s why I ranged shooting lanes multiple times while moving set ups and moving closer to the elk. Stuff happens and it was either mis ranged or I remembered that shooting lane wrong. In the moment of truth I was confident in the yardage that’s why I shot, but stuff happens when things happen fast. Trust me I’ve relived this opportunity more times than anyone can really understand. I don’t take wounding animals lightly, especially an animal as difficult as a DIY archery elk.

    Looking forward to seeing what the crew does this season. Heading to drop off my new phone for overheating, so it will be two weeks before I get to watch. Good hunting and gods speed to the crew, families and fans of Brunk Outdoors. 🏹🏆🦌🎥💯👍

      Thanks Brian, that was a clip after we had refilled after moving the truck. Just how the clips fell in the video. I can tell you both of us have PTSD after running on such low water that year. Wouldn't try to make something up like that.

    You shouldn’t have to explain yourself on the elk shot… I’ve done the same thing a couple times and it sucks, but it can and will happen. Congrats on a nice buck and a great adventure

    Awesome video! Seen a couple of your videos and enjoy them. I live in Iowa as well and just got back from an Elk hunt in SW Montana. What is your experience with OTC Colorado? Do you see more in the early part of September as compared to later in the month? Seems like you had some good encounters.

    • @BrunkOutdoors
      @BrunkOutdoors  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback! How was Montana? We have hunted otc Colorado probably 8 times or so now. Seems like every year is hit or miss. As for what part of September it probably depends on the area. We tend to go high elevation so we like a little earlier while they are still up high around their summer areas and to try to beat some of the pressure in Colorado. But sometimes that leads to some slow days waiting for the rut to turn on. Second and third week the bulls seem the most callable but you have to contend with muzzleloaders so pick your poison.

    • @aaronnyitrai5560
      @aaronnyitrai5560 2 роки тому

      @@BrunkOutdoors really good insight, thank you! Montana was very quiet. I did shoot a bull, nothing huge just a good public land elk. My thoughts were hoping to get away from the OTC Colorado pressure. Between the thought of Grizzlies and having to put in for the tag in the spring I think it did help. Did not see a lot of people and did not see any grizz
