It always freaks me out when UA-camrs record stuff in their homes and you can see out of their windows. Especially in cities, the skylines make it so easy to tell exactly what apartment someone is in.
Back when Shia Lebouf was doing that whole flag stint, where he filmed flags in random locations and swore nobody would find them, people still managed to find each one. As a "gotcha!" attempt, the last flag was filmed from an angle of nothing else visible but the flag and the sky. And STILL it was located based on clouds/weather and the timing of airplanes flying above it! I give a slow clap to the internet but that's still troubling.
To add a bit more context to that last bit and to the event in general as someone might think it was just one person. It was a group effort of 4channers who did it out of dislike of Shia and "shit n giggles". And for the last flag, while they discovered the general area it was in, they still lacked the exact location. So one guy local to the area drove around making noise to help pinpoint the location of the flag.
It's shockingly easy to find where people live if they own a house. Who owns which property are all public records. When I was looking to buy a house, I was shocked that not only could I look up my potential neighbors' names, I could also know exactly how old they were
One of the benefits of a trust, even if your not exactly "rich", but own a home. Title will be held in the name of the trust, which in turn is controlled by owners and successors layed out it the trust which is not a publicly published document. Also limits "liabilities" on your property in case you or your family gets in any litigation.
@@Kevintendo Depends on if you have children or are planning, if your married, and a number of other factors. How exposed you are to debt and legal liability. Essentially cushioning what you've earned for your family to have a source of survival for their livelihood in the event things go chaotic and the social bond is not strong. It's gonna vary depending on the lawyer but if you make enough to have a mortgage/insurance and are committed and locked in and are trying to build stability for your family it's a small expense to have things set out versus your family going about it blind when the time comes to sort your final wishes out. Probably not worth the expense for a single first time homeowner seeking privacy online but that is one of the "benefits" if you seek it.
Haha! I taught in a wildly expensive prep school in Atherton. Kids would post pics of their wild parties when parents were not at home-I mean doors, windows, sliders, gates, every entry to the mansion. Within a week, house was robbed.
People are so shocked when they Google my full name and barely anything current comes up except a document I signed for a foreign government, a professional newsletter with my name in it, and my commencement announcements. Dazzit! No images - no major socials - nothing.
Dont forget that Google is the tame option. Used to be you could use Yandex to reverse image search people and it would be VERY accurate. Then it turned out that was because Yandex might have possibly been used by the FSB to follow people. Supposedly.
Bro you have been fucking amazing. Ive seen all your videos, so i kinda know your situation with leaving your business and all that. You really out here making content to help people. Hope you're doing ok homie 🙏
This is why I never post in real time where I am or what I’m doing, and usually only share about 1% of my actual life details. It’s just not worth it. This isn’t AOL 5.0 in ‘98!
Whenever I post on the internet I try my hardest to blur out the time and dates in screenshots because it can give away your location just based off the timezone and date
I love AI tools in native camera apps for this reason. When posting publicly from my porch, I'll use the tools meant to blur/disguise strangers and what not. Instead, I'll blur trees and houses together, I'll hide a building altogether.
@@CamJames Yeah I'd totally look into it. Google Pixels have a lot of tools built in. Samsungs get close to the same tools (since they're android) but I think Google keeps some bells and whistles for their own devices. It makes photos better in general (the "spotlight" feature is crazy good), but it can also be used for safety. I'm not sure if others have thought to use it that way, but I want to start making videos on my medical conditions and my name is a little distinctive because of the spelling. And it's so easy to find people via voter registration. So I use the erase tool to change things then put portrait blur on to cover up the clearly edited bits - just because it's unsightly.
@@CamJames Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. And I saw those go for about $380. I feel a little more for your lost man. Probably part of some nest making some bird very happy. 🥲

we're all getting a lil' too comfortable
Addendum: ABSOLUTELY DO NOT PUT PHOTOS OF YOUR KIDS ON THE INTERNET.
oh yeah, i don't have those lol

that takes work, congrats. my government name doesn't bring much up bc it's common.
