CLIP DESCRIPTION:
After being shot by a mugger, Sam (Patrick Swayze) realizes that he has died.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
An interesting hybrid of popular film genres, Ghost showcases the talents of its entire cast. While out on the town one evening, New York couple Sam (Patrick Swayze) and Molly (Demi Moore) are confronted by a mugger. After submitting to his demands, Sam is murdered anyway. He then finds himself a disembodied spirit, invisible to the living world, wandering without hope until he finds a spiteful spirit aboard the subway (Vincent Schiavelli) who gives him some helpful pointers on how to co-exist. Soon Sam comes back into contact with those he knew in life, and he begins to learn piece-by-piece of his close friend and co-worker Carl's (Tony Goldwyn) embezzling plot which caused his death; the apparent mugging was, in fact, a premeditated murder. In the meantime, Carl has designs on Molly, and Sam is determined to extract revenge. He contacts a psychic (Whoopi Goldberg), and together, the two set out to serve justice and stop the maniacal Carl from getting to Molly. Blending comedy, romance, action, and horror, Ghost was a box-office smash and managed to garner five Academy Award nominations, including "Best Picture," "Best Supporting Actress" (Goldberg), "Best Original Screenplay," "Best Editing," and "Best Score"; Goldberg won her first Oscar.

In 2009 just before the release of his autobiography, Patrick said in an interview that Demi was holding a dummy modeled after him. He also said shooting the scene gave him panic attacks, because looking down at his dummy reminded him of looking down at his father in a casket who died 8 years earlier. So the look of panic and fear in Patrick's face in this scene was real.
Sam is lucky. When I died and looked at my body, it looked like a bowl of spilled chili
Has anyone ever noticed that the good people get bad things and the bad ones get more respect. Maybe thats just me.
That look on Sam's face when he sees his body though
This scene is so tragic. :(
Even today, it's so sad to see how innocent and good hearted people are murdered in cold blood for sometimes no reason at all and the killers just flee without any regard for human life.
RIP Patrick Swayze. I can’t believe it will be 10 years 😢😢
Patrick played the freaked out scene after his death really well. He looks just like he's going into shock. Very underrated actor. Gone to soon.
I get chills when she starts saying "somebody"...
There's more to Swayze than most know. This is an AMAZING acting job. His reaction to seeing his own dead body: the shock, fear, and denial he shows... just fantastic work here by Swayze.
After he died he thought that he's fine until he saw himself dead omg.
That face Sam made seeing himself is spot on...I couldn't imagine what kinda screwed up face id be making in that scenario...RIP Mr. Swayze
I feel bad
The CGI in this film is very good for 1990.
I watched this at the cinema in 1990. This scene has stayed in my mind since. Death scenes are sad enough but Sam (RIP Patrick Swayze) seeing himself dying took things to another level. Horror, the panic, the helplessness - we can feel everything he's feeling. It's remarkably staged.
Sam’s reaction was very understandable. It’s one thing if someone assaults you, but it’s quite another matter when someone assaults your girlfriend. Willie Lopez may not have meant to initially kill anyone, but the struggle over the gun made this felony murder.
One of best actors in history and he made one of best movies in history
I saw this scene as a kid. It was one of the most hurtful emotional scenes I had witness. It still gives me chills. Patrick Swayze was a great actor.
Watched this movie recently. It’s truly an iconic timeless masterpiece. The ending made me cry.
I remember the first time I saw Ghost... straight after the gunshot and the mugger runs off after the mugger... the sudden silence for a second made me think Mollie got shot.
