ABOUT US
We’re Colin and Samir, creators based out of Los Angeles California. We make videos about the creator economy, and the lessons we’ve learned over 10 years of being on UA-cam. We also interview creators and try to get to the bottom of what’s working on UA-cam and where the creator economy is headed.
Fantastic interview, relate so much to the algorithm vs artist point. And your discussion around how you’re forgotten in a flick of the finger was spot on
Ayeee my man, I FOLLOW UR SKINCARE ROUTINE
I can so relate to Hasan's earlier days and you guys' struggle in 2019. I feel like that's where I am right now. The money is not coming up in yet, but I enjoy the content that I'm creating and the little bit of validation that I'm getting is enough to motivate to keep up on going. To keep up on pushing. I don't know how close I might be to striking gold.
@@BackToTheBoomBap me as well but I know I have a lot to learn, this was an eye opener
@@BackToTheBoomBap same bro
Ali when will you go back to doctoring? 😞
The amount of perspective he has for a 37 year old is astounding. Great interview C&S
He’s 37?!? Man, it doesn’t seem like it 😮
This one's gonna be a banger
Banger: Confirmed ✅
"History repeats itself, then deletes itself." Loved the interview fellas!
His special was incredible because of his storytelling ability freaking loved it
SO much value in this. Hasan is so articulate & insightful it’s wild. Awesome pod, Colin & Samir! 👏🏽
wasn't expecting to see you here lol love you guys
its so nice seeing colin and samir get amazing guests. really shows how far theyve come! Congrats on 1 million and hope you get to 10 mil!!!
“Can you do the right thing for the wrong reasons?” That one hit. Great talk guys 🙏✨
His special could easily be a movie. Carefully crafted and beautiful I was shocked when it ended like time passed quickly
And there was a clear story. I prefer stand up comedy that has a story rather than just joke after joke
This was a killer episode- it's freaking Hasan! I love that theres so much learning happening for you guys and him. The convo around the UA-cam "take a break" bell and what came from that was genuinely thought provoking because of the differences of opinion on it. It's amazing the ideas shared on this channel, with the hope of impacting everyday creators, is just as impactful to household artists like Hasan. I could have watched 3 more hours of this. This is depth and I'm here for it
Awesome interview! Love Hasan!
Hey nas
I found this video after watching the trailer for Hasan’s special. This interview was perfect. I am not a creator. I work in corporate America in a capacity that requires creative problem solving. There were messages in this interview that resonated with me and our process. Thank you
One of my favorite comedians, journalist and storyteller! I love this collab more than I ever will know
This is by far one of the best episodes yet. Currently listening for the second time to fully absorb everything. Thank you so much Colin and Samir!
Couldn't click on a video fast enough. Really insightful interview that is useful for all types of creators! Congrats on the 1 Million!
FANTASTIC INTERVIEW! Thank you guys!! Hi from Indonesia.
The board lol 😂😂😅😅. Colin and Samir never fail to put little things in their videos for us to find. Keep it up both of you. These little Easter eggs will be gold for you in the coming decade
I think Hasan's storytelling ability is what has separated him from other comedians and that's why he's won 2 Peabody awards.
I've been listening to the audiobook 'How to Tell a Story by The Moth (think a standup comedy set but strictly for nonfiction storytelling), and Hasan has attributed his time at the Moth for sharpening his ability to tell different levels of emotional stories from light-hearted, to sad, to ones with a more serious note.
If you need an example, just look up the Storytime he did with Jimmy Fallon.
The difference is CLEAR.
One of your best episodes, Colin and Samir. Thanks for bringing Hasan on the show. Also, I would have liked you guys to ask him about his movie projects !
This one was soooo good! Love the artist vs algorithm perspective and I feel like I try to find the best balance in it everyday. I love Hasan’s thoughts about mourn and move on. Our lives would be a lot more happier if we could do this successfully.
This hits me while I'm in my own version of the "dark ages." It's a good reminder to stay on the path and trust it. It's exciting and scary, but it's a necessary barrier to prove that you want it. Thanks for the inspiration Hasan + C&S.
Incredible. Best interview you guys have done. The way he opened up felt so relatable
There was so much to take from this interview, that isn't the average "make good content and you'll become a youtuber" advice
Knocked it out of the park
I'm proud that Hasan was willing to be that vulnerable about his dark ages, burning low and his art of storytelling. Colin and Samir, thank you for facilitating and directing this convo and also saying your truths as creators!! This episode motivated me to understand why and what we do to speak about our creations in the digital and IRL worlds.
Incredible interview/convo. Probably the best guest to have that can best talk to the balance between art and commerce, something I'm obsessed with as someone who is wanting to just get started and find that balance in my heart. Loooove this!
The two different perspectives-Hasan's being a popular creator on UA-cam and the Internet before the modern day creator economy, and Colin and Samir's now popular creators in that economy-really make this conversation thrive. There's a lot of shared tissue between the two, but they're distinctly unique.
I want more of this. Hasan is the middle child of the two creator generations. And he rides that rail separating the two so gracefully!
I did not realize the amount of perspective we can miss when we ONLY listen to the new era creator’s point of view.
Diggin Samir's FIT! Very "Link"esque 👏
Hasan Minhaj you will always be famous. The King's Jester was so moving, so touching. I loved it.
Since you are known to read comments: Your content is absolutely amazing, but please have your studio acoustically treated a little guys. Also try using more subtle gates (longer release-time) on the mics. most people listen to this on earphones and it is very irritating hearing the "pffs, fffs," etc from cutting a roomy mic signal off. It's minor thing but it will boost the technical quality by a lot! Keep up the great work!
Good feedback - will adjust! Thanks
The work that is worth the 5 year bet is something that lets the viewer better understand the artist. When I watch a special like The King’s Jester that goes so deep into this creator’s life and unique experiences, those are the creators I will remember, return to, and tell others to watch.
Thanks for the interview CS and HM. Super Deep and Just Eye Opening
Great job Colin and Samir, this interview was your best to date. Hasan Minhaj has been a huge inspiration to us for years. He is unapologetically smart, a proud son of immigrants, and shines a light on so many important topics that don’t get enough airtime in our current media climate. Its like Democracy Now but with enough funny to make it digestible to everyone.
Thank you for this incredible interview , its great to hear about the process behind Hasan’s content.
PS : Hasan for president !
I've never come across your channel before (and I'm not a creator/artist in any way) but I came across this video. It was so enjoyable and I felt that this conversation was a real value add for me. I'll be checking out other videos for sure!
Congratulations on a million subs guys! Stoked to see some bigger names up on the channel. Have to agree with Samir, that how I built this is a solid listen when going through the hardships of building something.
He’s such a great guest to have, he’s asking questions and listening so attentively
the level of prep samir did is so admirable! everything really flowed from there.
🤩 This interview is GOLD and TIMELESS. So worth the 60 min. Thanks guys!
Depth of this interview is top notch. Enjoyed this episode. Thanks for putting this out.
Really appreciate how real and vulnerable Samir gets about the pressure from family at the dinner table to make money @47:00 as a child of an immigrant mother , this really resonates!
i think this is my favorite interview so far
Can’t wait to listen to this one!!
Did not disappoint at all! Really encouraging to hear you guys talk about those dark ages and all the effort put in before you experienced a breakthrough. Appreciate you guys so much.
i don’t say this often, but i believe this interview changed my life. i wasn’t driven to stay creative, i was ready to go work for deloitte or go to the caribbean, but this video reignited my creative drive. thank you.
😮
Been looking forward to this for soo long
This one is incredible!!
Love this! Such a great interview. I've been meaning to watch his special!
This is the most helpful podcast I’ve sat down with… maybe ever… as I consider my “artistry” AND as I wrestle with what I have to say. The scarcity mindset rushed in the first month a few bucks showed up. All 3 of you and the team… thank you! 🙏
Congratulations

Nice one!
I love you guys for getting Hasan! Cant wait to finish this!
The bike in the background makes it seem, at a quick glance, that Colin and Samir are in wheelchairs.
Man! This is so inspiring. I’ve been in a place of trying to honor my creativity vs trying to chase the algorithm. This gave me a lot of clarity. Thank you
Why is there so much silence between the words. It just feels weird.
Great episode. This is definitely one I’m going to need to rewatch because there’s so much to soak up here.
This was a great interview.
“Life is about graduating” - that is so much truth.
Thanks for all you do Colin and Samir.
The value of content is through the roof! Thanks for sharing.
this is genuinly my favourite episode of yours, cant wait to watch it again
Incredible interview! Listened to it on apple, definitely gonna go back and watch it here in a little. Hasan is GREAT!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW that's cool
This a massive interview for this channel. Hasan is such a powerful voice in storytelling right now. Can’t wait to not sleep tonight thinking about this.
This was amazing and loving the long game look on things. 👍😊 Thanks!
Loved that conversation! Thanks to all three of you all for everything you create for the world. Please don’t stop!
1:05:00 As I get older I keep hearing people say "it's never too late, age is just a number" as if there are no differences or anything lost with time. It's so different than my experience and hearing him acknowledge that while you can still accomplish things, the reality is that it will be different and some dreams may die as you imagined them, is refreshing and encouraging.
While I've observed this it's my first time hearing someone else say it.
It is so fantastic to see a comedian talk about what he thinks about social media! Would love to see more people like hassan on here🔥💪🏻
Such a great interview!! The entire ep had so much stuff to think about!
Honestly this was one of my favorite interviews y’all have ever done. I didn’t know of Hasan going into this but he hit on so many crucial, important topics that aligned so well with a lot of what you guys preach. Thanks for all the work you put in, and congrats on 1 MIL!! ❤🎉
Great interview, Colin and Samir! Love watching your content. 🎉
As a Pakistani, who at 24 is escaping the traditional business school route and is now exploring the creative ideas that always roamed around his mind, this was such an important watch. I hope you guys can get someone like RomanAtWood to talk about the evolution of merchandising or the sidemen's manager or even their camera man @konstantin and his journey as his own creator.
Loved the inclusion of graphics to explain the concepts. Great work 🎉
Outstanding interview! For sure gonna go check out this special.
Great interview. Watched from beginning to end. So valuable. LOVED the middle bell curve point.
I am just super impressed with every interview you guys have done! Amazing questions, genuine moments, and great conversation. Thank you!
Guys, that was really cool to feel the excitement with you when Hasan said he used to watch you back in the day.
The algorithm is really crazy. This gets recommended right after i see the story about him lying blows up.
What a marvellous episode. Rather than being a one way interview, loved the fact that both parties were questioning each other about their experience.
After watching every interview on this channel for years, this has got to be my favourite yet. Gold from start to finish.
Wow, really enjoyed this conversation! Long time fan of Hassan and so "lost" in the podcast, YT, OTT platforms. This conversation really helped me understand the business and creative philosophy. Thanks for bypassing the yellow font! Honest sharing and open conversation, glad to have found your channel!
Freaking LOVE the points on artistry instead of the algorithm. We like to think our channel has been that, but now were diving into that HEAD FIRST
I stayed for the whole hour and 10 minutes and genuinly loved every single part of it. Thank you!
This is a great interview! Excited to see you bringing on such a major creator that spans different types of media. Love the concept of owning the stack.
Great job guys, this has been one of my favorite episodes
Best video you guys have made. Love the genuine deep conversation
Wow, what a treat! Thank you so much! Love Hasan's work!
They added context!!! Thank you so much, this interview is great
What a super cool, insightful conversation. Loved it!
its so amazing you had an interview with Hasan! We went to grade school together at its amazing to see how his career has grown. Hes SO talented!! Bravo!
Amazing episode! So many good takeaways here🔥
Colin and Samir, been watching your videos for a while, and I'm not usually one to comment, but Hasan is one of my favorite people and I was over the moon that you all had him on the show. Hasan embodies what it means to be humble and real, and this interview made me appreciate those qualities in him that much more and the work he's done to get to where he's at. The same applies to you all, and I just want to wish you all continued success. Congrats on 1 million and hope you all continue building depth and connection with audience members like me
Amazing episode. There's so much insight packed in this one interview.
Best one yet! Going to send this to some friends and clients of mine. Thanks for staying true to your why C&S team 🙏🙏🙏
By far one of my favorite interview, you guys have done yet! Hasan was amazing really interesting and I appreciate you guys getting him on the show!
i physically had to applaud after watching this. this is such a gem for everyone but creatives specifically. fantastic interview, thank you guys x
Might be the best episode
Been hanging for this one! The intro was a banger
Thanks so much for this video. I'm also watching it a few times to let it fully sink in.
I cant believe y'all got to interview him! This is HUGE! Love it!
I loved this so much. A lot to unpack and learn. So inspiring, especially as an artist. Thanks Hasan, Colin, and Samir🙏🏽
Amazing! I needed this thanks !
all you need is depth I was ready to come to your show in Paris but it wasn't subtitled ! this was a great episode again many inspiring thoughts it feels great ! Discovered your work when you guys were -18k at the bank ! I'm here for the depth of your content !
This is the first time I'm seeing your channel, and this was such a good conversation! Always admired Hasan Minhaj in more serious interviews but it takes talent to draw out these kinds of insights and keep the discussion going. I learned so much. New subscriber!
Absolutely amazing interview. Hasan is one of my fav comedians/actors, so relatable what he says about storytelling/creators!
Another great video! Really took some great info from this. Keep up the great job boys.
