Join me and Ashby (Jack Russell Dog) as we travel in our Narrowboat Aitch up the Grand Union Canal. At the moment I’m painting the boat on the towpath, or shall I say trying to paint the boat. Yes it’s nice around here, I’m really enjoying it. I’m even enjoying painting the boat haha! Could do with a few cloudy days so I could get a bit more painting done but can’t complain xxx

Cracking job on the paint work there Vince. I admire your dedication in putting seven coats on. I anti-fouled mine over the winter and did three coats, which was more than enough for me, and my boat is only 7m long !! Great to see you the vlog as always, and am looking forward to the next one.
My aim is to put 5 coats on Stephen. I wasn’t happy with the first bit and I ended up putting 2 extra coats of gloss on it. Hope you have been enjoying your boat this summer and all the best to you!

Thanks for that! I am a tradesman I spent 40 odd years working as an electrician. But that trade didn’t help much with the boat painting haha!

Good work with the paint job Vince - steady as she goes. There is a lot of locks on any part of the Grand Union Canal! Volunteers’ at Hatton to help, give them a ring before hand and you’ll probably get assistance for most of the flight, if you haven’t already got to the top.

Great job with the painting, Vince! What a difference. Your plan of tackling sections at a time is clever, easier to know where you've got up to. Are you going to get a sign writer to put Aitch's name back on? (Spell check wanted to change that to 'song writer'... I mean, I suppose you could, but... ) 😂
Thank you! I will have a go at doing the sign writing myself! There’s no shadowing so with a bit of patience and a steady hand I should be okay.

Interesting cruise Vince. I love learning the history of the canals and roadways. I must say, aitch has the cleanest roof of any narrowboat I've seen on the canal. Nice paint job. Also, from one impressive gut geezer to another, if I can ride along for a day I'll open every lock we come to on the Grand Union.
That gut will disappear pretty soon with all these locks haha!
