Fun Fact: The actor playing Grogan in the opening western sequence is long time actor/stuntman Ted White, who was a stunt double for actors like John Wayne and Clark Gable, and most famously played Jason Voorhees in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter.
When Zemeckis wanted to do Back to the Future, no one backed him in the studio circuit until he did this one, which was SO successful that they became onboard to support him and thus, Back to the Future was born.
1. "War of the Roses" with Kathleen, Danny, and Michael is an awesome film, but it's much darker. 2. Alligators are fresh water and have square shaped snouts while crocodiles are salt water and have round snouts. 3. My favorite character is Juan the bellmaker. 4. Snake doesn't really have a taste so to speak, it tastes mostly what you put on it. 5. Nothing wrong with enjoying a fun movie.
Nice of you to start the video with one of my favorite scenes in the movie. It’s so gloriously absurd, the idea that these hardened criminals are such huge fans of romance novels. Jack’s WTF face just sells it even more.
I think it reminded me of the boat in Jaws 😊 I’ve actually seen Orca, or at least the beginning of it. It was super upsetting because they’re a favorite animal of mine
Hi RT! Thanks for doing this reaction! This is one of my favorite movies ever! You earned 100 nerd points for knowing the difference between poisonous and venomous (12:20), but then you misused the word "nonplussed" (15:28). It does not mean unfazed or unbothered by something, like so many people seem to think. It means baffled, bewildered, or unsure of what to do or say. The word "nonplus" is derived from Latin "nōn plūs" (“no further, no more”). However, it seems that the wrong meaning is quickly overtaking the right meaning as the right meaning.
@@RhetoricalThrill Don't give it a second thought. I'm sure that 99.999% of your viewers wouldn't even notice or care. Only pedantic language nerds like me would even pick up on it at all! 🤓
I love the relationship between Joan and Colton. They're like two halves of Indiana Jones. Joan is all intellect but zero real experience, Colton is all experience and no intellect. So they're opposites attract and also complementary.
The first of three great Michael Douglas/Kathleen Turner/Danny Devito movies. The others are The Jewel of the Nile and War of the Roses. Another great Kathleen Turner comedy, co-starring Denis Quaid, is Undercover Blues.
@@DavidB-2268 yes, I generally enjoy dark comedy but there were parts that just hit a little too close to home for me and made it hard to see the comedy
@@RhetoricalThrill War of the Roses was so reflective of my family life at the time the film first came out on VHS. We (well, my sisters, mother and I) found it hilarious however, largely because we could relate so much to it. ;)
This is a classic campy 80s movie, love the reaction. You're hilarious! For more of Alfonso Arua (Juan the bellmaker), check out Three Amigos from 1986, a couple of years after this one. He plays a bad guy in it, but it is a great movie starring Chevy Chase, Steve Martin and Martin Short. For another really funny one Kathleen Turner is in, check out Undercover Blues from 1993 with Dennis Quaid. And Stanley Tucci gives the best performance in that movie as Muerte, the movie is a must see just for his parts alone! I agree, Kathleen Turner has a fantastic voice, does it for me anyway. Please keep up the funny reactions!
I will, thank you for watching! 😊 I’ve seen Three Amigos, but it’s been awhile. You’re the second to recommend Undercover Blues, sounds like I need to add it!
Great film, infinitely re-watchable. Thanks for reacting to it. If you ever get a chance, listen to Kathleen Turner narrating the V.I. Warshawski stories, they're great. (Apparently it's also a film and I didn't even know.)
I'm a bit late to the party but nice video. I know others have said it before but the whole time I couldn't get over the fact that you look so similar to Kathleen Turner.
We were honestly cheated out of a Juan and Pepe spinoff

When this one came out in the Spring of 84, it was marketed as a more romantic version of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Lol. I love that:)

No more sequels after Jewel of the Nile, but it gives a real ending, great duology, my favorite romcom adventure movies 😉
@@RhetoricalThrill It's really not worth watching... at all. Poor story and a poor movie in general.

The American Express Traveler's check bit was because Michael Douglas did their tv commercials when this movie came out.
Ahaha that makes it even better! 😂

Ohhh that makes sense 🤦🏻♀️
