[Trainz Race] C&O Greenbrier Vs. Union Pacific FEF and C&O Kanawha

- Long time no see!😘 We took a rather long break from UA-cam recently, but we are still here! 😊During the break, we played some exciting video games like Detriot: Become Human and Beyond: Two Souls on PC. We always want to keep this channel running with new ideas, but it seems that there aren't many new classic trains stuff for Trainz coming out recently. Our viewer AnasiaCameronElijah suggested a race between C&O Greenbrier & SP&S E-1 4-8-4, but the latter is not available on Trainz but TS2020, so we picked another great product of Alco, the UP FEF (👍 BACKSHOP version) as a replacement.
In this video, we will find out how good the C&O Kanawha performs compared to C&O's Greenbrier, which is something we have never done before! The Kanawha, aka Berkshire, was a smaller but equally competent dual-service steam engine compared to the Northern (Greenbrier for C&O). If you were the person who decides what steam engine should be bought for the C&O system and you had only one choice, which type would you have ordered? Kanawha or Greenbrier?'🤔

Concidering the Berkshire is based from a Texas type engine it should have comparable power to hold it's own against the northerns, but it's very hard to beat the exceptionally well designed locomotives for the union Pacific. They had some of the best steam engines other than the N&W on the planet.

eeeehhh not true. Pennys also has some better locos then the UP, and the NYC had some of the best northern type engines ever made.
Then we have C&O with ti's Northerns that was faster and stronger then the FEFs at the same jobs, and those beautiful allengeies that were stronger than the big boys. yet eastern railroads rushed to Diseals compared to western. Had the east kept with steam a lot longer like UP and N&W. Those railroads would have had the best steam locos compared to UP and N&W.
@@octopus1066 The Allegheny is only more powerful than the Big Boy in HP, but in tractive effort, the Big Boy is superior, though I do agree that the Greenbrier is above the FEF-3 overall. But the N&W actually did have some of the best steam locomotives of all time. The J Class 4-8-4 is very mechanically advanced and very precisely counter balanced despite their 70" drivers (small for a Northern), giving them a smooth ride even at 100+ MPH, and had mechanical lubricators at 220 points, allowing it to go up to 500-1,300 miles before refilling the lubricators. The Js also have the highest tractive effort of any Northern and still produce over 5,000 HP. Heck, even the PRR praised the J's performance on their tracks during testing, even besting their own steamers, losing only to the S1 6-4-4-6 in smoothness, and even then, the PRR said the Js rode very smoothly at all speeds.
The Class A 2-6-6-4 is very versatile as it is capable of freight and passenger service and can go as fast as 70 mph with a passenger train. It is capable of coal drags on easier routes, but they're best used as fast freight locomotives. And lastly, the Y6 2-8-8-2 has some of the highest tractive efforts of any steam locomotive, not THE highest, but it's up there, 166,000 lbf in simple mode.
So, yeah, while the PRR, NYC and C&O had some mighty fine steamers, I believe the N&W had the best overall steam locomotives.

Fantastic vid, also about that question. If I were to order either the Kanawha or the Greenbrier. I would pick the Kanawha all the way because I have become rather attached to them 😁
i hope in the future that c&o 614 and 2716 would run again would you agree if c&o 614 and 2716 do doubleheaders in future if they return to steam again

how did you change the engine sound of the C&O Kanawha? every time i tried to change it it just would not change.
12:27 C&O 2714 sounded like a UP Big Boy from trainz 2008-2012.

It's noted that the FEF3 class northern is heavier in weight than the Chesapeake in Ohio J3A Greenbrier
You should also note that a J3A can put out 800 to 1000 HP more than a FEF3 at high speed.
