Kia Ora Rawiri, mum showed me this video this morning and it blew me away that you are a Doctor now, I still have the Taiaha you carved for me when i was 13 out of Kauri wood in Waikeria all those years ago in 1995, much respect brother.
Kia Ora Dr Rawiri Waretini-Karena, this is truly an inspirational presentation, thank you for sharing your journey with the world. I am humbled to read and follow the work you do, as I work in Social services NGO, teaching Cultural identity to children in care. I know the work you have done to date is so encouraging to me and understanding my why? I want to keep pushing myself academically for the betterment of our Māori Tamariki in care.
Kia ora Rawiri - I listened to this powerful talk today and have shared it with whanau as an Easter message of love and insight. Thanks you from the bottom of my heart ~ Kia kaha ~ Ange P
You're an inspiration, an example of faith, and evidence there is a merciful God and a loving Saviour. May we go on to be kind towards and willing to understand those that are different to us.
The first part of your story was sad and powerful. The second part was historically all over the place. You left out Maoris asked for the treaty. Maoris ceded sovereignty which gave them equal rights under the law. Maori prior to the treaty were killing each other on a massive scale. They also put 35 species of mammals and birds into extinction. After ceding sovereignty some maori tribes rebelled , war broke out reparation was made by confiscated land. Maori chiefs said they didn't want maori taught in schools as English was the language of commerce. The very real problem in New Zealand 🇳🇿 today, is maori have made up a whole lot of stories about history while ignoring the facts. By going down this path of no return you will destroy this country.
Kia ora Dr. Karena, thank you for your truth, the truth sets us free. I have a couple of patai for you, Do you still love the Lord after your discovery of the impacts of colonisation on you and your whakapapa? And how do you support our whanau to overcome their anger when they discover the roots of their dysfunction in relation to our history, both pre- and post- colonialism? Aaannnddd can I get a copy of your thesis? Please?
