Half Moon Cay, Bahamas
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 тра 2010
- We just went on our Bahamas Cruise on the Carnival Fascination, from May 15th-20th, 2010. The highlight of our cruise was our day on the private island known as Half Moon Cay. This is probably as close to paradise as you can get, and any cruise you take with Carnival, you definitely want to make sure this island is on the itinerary.
Absolutely the clearest, most turquoise water I have ever seen! Enjoy!
The background music on this video consists of "I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW" and "HOT, HOT, HOT", both from the "STEEL DRUM ISLAND" CDs.
Thanks for sharing this. So important to see, especially now due to hurricane Dorian. Praying for all these people, contributing to recovery relief. ❤
Thank You! I watch these videos to remind myself why i am working so hard:)
Yes, it certainly is a beautiful place. Can't wait to go back.
I was there just last week and it's a very Paradise!!!!! I'm very very happy that I have been there and I hope to return in this fantastic island soon!!!
I went to Nassau & Half Moon back in Nov 2008. I enjoyed my time on Half Moon Cay way more than Nassau. It is such a beautiful island.
This was a great video. Loved the audio.....Got me in the mood for the Bahamas.
I was there just last week and it's a very Paradise!!!!! I'm very very happy that I have been there and I hope to return in this fantastic island soon!!! The ship was Carnival Miracle
awww i miss this island so much, i went on a cruise in december last year and we came here. my family and i found a little private shore down the island and there were starfish and snail and it was the coolest thing ever,
I have been there twice and would love to go back again and again. Truely beautiful. If you can I would recommend parisailing there. That was amazing.
We are going there in 1 week and I am sooooo excited... it is our 3rd cruise, 1st time to the Bahamas.. and we love cruises... this place looks amazing... Hope the boat is nice too... I hear it just got a facelift.... Thanks for sharing your video....
Definately my number one beach so far!!!! I've been in Montego Bay (Jamaica), Aruba, Curacao, Dominica, US Virgin Islands, Cancun, Playa del Carmen, San Juan (PR) and two more islands in the bahamas. I would recomended to anyone!! The best of the best!!!
You're going to love it. Hope you have a great time.
GREAT VIDEO! Nice to have an idea of 'what to expect' for when we'll be there for the first stop on our cruise in less than 3 weeks (We're going on Liberty Oct. 16-23). Thanks for posting this (It'll also be fun to watch this winter once we're back home again & trudging through another 'Wisconsin Winter' ;) lol) :)
We'll be there in a little over 2 months!!!! I remember when I booked 330 days ago! LOL! Can't wait!
You'll love it...Have fun!
we had a great time there also. I believe this is where we had the ship picnic at. Im so ready to go back to Nassau, I would like to spend no less than 3 days there, to much to do there...lol
@puio7 Not sure which time of year to tell you is best, but in May, the weather was PERFECT. I think for the value, cruising is the way to go. You would be hard pressed to go anywhere for 5 nights, eat in the type of restaurants that the cruise ship offers, see the sights we saw, have the time we had, for the money we spent. Well worth it. Also, check the Carnival web site (or other lines as well), and see what kind of deals they offer.
You will love Half Moon Cay. You will get off the cruise ship, and take a smaller "tender" boat to the island dock. It is a short ride on the "tender", which is what they call the small "Ferry" boats. Once you get off the "tender", you will enter the gates into a small pavilion-like area, with some small shops. After that, is the beach. Very short, easy walk. No taxi or shuttle bus that I know of on the island. This is a private cruise-ship island, and it has about 30 inhabitants.
I'll be there next week!!!!!!!!!! I'm doing the bike and hike combo in the morning and the kayak paddle in the afternoon. Cant wait. great video!
I've heard great things about Coco Cay, but have never been there. Half Moon Cay is a great place, and yes, I know there are some areas away from the main beach that are supposed to be good for snorkeling. I'm thinking out by the rocky areas is where the excursion were, so if you are doing it on your own, that might be a great place to look. I didn't do any snorkeling on that cruise, but did some on our western Caribbean cruise to Isla Roatan. It was AWESOME too.
Beautiful!! Just got off from. Carnival paradise a few weeks ago. Planning my next cruise!
Thanks! I'm very glad you enjoyed it. Yeah, I thought the music fit in well with the scenery. Hope you enjoy your trip to the Bahamas.
I went there last month absolutely beautiful ❤😍😘
Half Moon Cay is a private island, owned by Carnival/Holland America cruise lines. It is an island that is a day stop for people taking cruises, which include Half Moon Cay on their itinerary. In other words, Half Moon Cay does not have any hotels or resorts, or places of lodging for overnight guests. It is owned by the cruise lines, and the only way to get there, is by one of the cruise ships from the above-named cruise lines. That being said, it is a beautiful place to cruise to.
I went on the same exact ship to the same exact place! I love it it was extremely fun.
Glad you enjoyed it. You will love it. Wish I was going to be there too, but hope to go back next year. Have a great time!
I was there!!!!! it such an amazing island
È stata una vacanza indimenticabile in questo angolo di paradiso
I was there last Monday . very nice island.
Carnival Cruises are my favourites
Yes, it is a private island owned by Carnival and Holland America cruise lines. If you are interested in going there, you will need to find a cruise ship that has this as one of its Ports of Call. I know that the Carnival Fascination out of Jacksonville, Florida has this on some its itineraries. Not sure about which Holland America cruises go there...you would have to check their web site.
As a followup, I wish I could tell you we had a great time at HMC, but...we had to skip it due to weather and/or seas. About 20% of all port-visits to HMC are cancelled due to weather.
I even had a cabana reserved, but we pulled up, waited, waited some more (with the island as close as in your first shots), then the captain came on and said we'd have to go directly to St. Thomas. Oh, well, I'll get to HMC eventually!
Have a great time!!
we were there 2 weeks ago, warm water, warm breeze, great rum and a beach to die for. Didn't want to leave at all. Just wanted one more drink and to see the tide go out
wn6904k how much were drinks average?
just a few $$$$$,, well worth it
@babycakes1402 Thanks, and I hope you have a wonderful time on your cruise. Actually, we are going on our 2nd cruise in 2 weeks. This one goes to Nassau, bu unfortunately, does not take us to Half Moon Cay. You will love Half Moon, as the beach and the water there are wonderful. And the big cook-out is awesome too.
@swimmingisme No, we were aboard the Carnival Fascination. I think Carnival actually owns Holland America cruise lines, so they both go to Half Moon Cay.
May take the Fascination to Nassau n bald moon. Sooooo excited
Beautiful island, waters....never been south of mid Florida. I'm not lucky enough to get to the carribean....
@puio7 And sometimes, cruise lines will slash rates right before the cruise, in order to fill up the rooms. That is a good option if you can go on short notice. We are going again in 2 weeks, this time getting 2 rooms, and taking our 2 sons. Our total for this one was $1,464.00. But these are ocean view rooms, and we are getting 2 of them. If you book online, the price you see does not include port charges and taxes. I hope this helps. Go for it...you'll love it.
Anyway, hope this helps.
@retnavybrat Yeah, we enjoyed it more than Nassau also. Not that Nassau wasn't nice, and we did like Paradise Island...But Half Moon Cay was the best, by far. Can't wait to go back!
@DerrickH1969 yes... we are going on the fascination stopping at Nassau first then Half moon cay... I am soooo excited.. it is cold and wet here in Wa state and I am needing a little dose of summer :) Also we got a smoking deal on our tickets.. we are on the 4th deck with a window room... paid only $279 a person... AWESOME!!
Great job with the video! Nice choice of background music and it was good to see an overview of the island and the tenders (which look good-sized...that's a good thing).
I'm booked for a 7-day on Carnival Liberty this October and it stops here first! Can't wait to compare it to CocoCay, which is RCCL's private island (been there once).
Is there any decent snorkeling from the beach at HMC? I'm planning on bringing my own gear.
@cutiestar1999 That all depends on if it is on your scheduled itinerary, and also, I don't know which port you are departing from. The cruises that depart on Saturdays from Jacksonville, FL on the Carnival Fascination, go to Half Moon Cay/Nassau. The ones that depart Jacksonville on Mondays aboard the Fascination, go to Key West/Nassau and not Half Moon Cay.
We are leaving out on Disney Cruise Lines this Saturday, and we will be going to Castaway Cay, their private island in the Bahamas. Half Moon Cay will be hard to beat, though. Once you get there, all the hard work will be worth it. The water there is beautiful!
DerrickH1969 You cant beat Half Moon Cay and I have been to all those other "islands"
on the way in September can't wait
Ohh..thanks for answering! :)
@puio7 For my wife and I, the total was just under $900.00. However, there are variables that figure in....like, when you travel, and what level you stay on. We went in May, and stayed on the Veranda deck, which is the top level. The lower on the ship you are, the less the cost. And an interior room costs less than an ocean view. Also, you can travel at different times, and the rates are lower.
@JakayBalay202 Wow. Well, fortunately for me and my life, I don't have another one booked at the moment. Just back off of my 2nd one, and will probably book one for next year. Anyway, I am sure you will love it. It really is the way to vacation.
@puio7 Oh, one more thing....If you want to see what the ship looks like on the inside, you can check out my other video...."Our Bahamas Cruise" under my other UA-cam name "DSHinNC1969". It is over in the list to the right of this video. Some more shots of Half Moon Cay, and also aboard the ship.
@davelitz123 We are going on a 7-day cruise out of Tampa this September, our first one that is over 5 days. Can't wait. Wish it was going back to Half Moon Cay, though.
@DerrickH1969 Its so beautiful there sadly when we went it was cloudy and the water up cold but we went parasailing which was so much fun
@smith87999 I look so forward to going back there. We have gone on 2 cruises, both on the same ship. I like the ship, but since its the only one I have been on, I can't really compare it to others. Our 2nd cruise did not go to Half Moon Cay. I wish it had...wonderful place. Are you going on the Fascination too?
@skichick216 You're gonna love it! Are you going on the Fascination, out of Jacksonville? Let me know how it goes for you.
I hate to hear that for you, as I am sure you were looking forward to it. It really is a beautiful place. Since you mentioned St. Thomas, may I ask you what you thought of it? We are currently considering a cruise that goes to St. Thomas and St. Marteen, and also another one that goes to the Cayman Islands and Cozumel, which we have already done once. Having trouble deciding...
@millyjeezay You will love it!
i love cococay :D
i like your video
Going here in about a month on carnival. Just curious, I see there is no deep water dock so you have to Ferry to the Island, is the Beach in close proximity to where the ferry boat docks? do you have to ride a Taxi or shuttle bus or anything?
Some call them tenders I called them {Water Taxi's}
Kendall Bowman true
Water taxi is at St Martin and Belize City
this place looks better than dominican republic punta cana....majestic elegance...how much is it for a week at half moon cay for two ?
I was there.
Carnival Victory
@Stixbaseball7
What is patches? I'm not sure what that is.
By the way, were you by any chance there at the same time we were? We were on the Carnival Fascination from Jacksonville, on the May 15th-May20th cruise. This is a beautiful place, isn't it?
@smith87999 HOW DID YOU DO THAT???? I think I have a new "best friend". No, seriously, I would love to know how you got a deal like that. That is awesome!
@skichick216 how about huricane irene?
going in September 2013!!
nice palm trees xD
How did you get on and off the ship to go onto the beach? It doesn't look like there's a dock
There are several smaller boats called "tenders", which you get onto directly from the ship, and they take you to the dock. The dock is too small for the cruise ship to get into, so you have to get to the island on one of the "tenders". Its only a few minutes from the ship, to the dock. Each boat holds about 100 people, or so.
DerrickH1969 In fact, you can see one of the "tenders" up next to the ship, about 5:00 into the video.
+totallyjamie Silly Jamie -----you need a holiday cruise lol
it's the best Port ever! it's owned by Holland America and Holland America is owned by Carnival
Did you take this from Holland America
@singleton188 Just might try that when I go back.
is cruise ship the only way to access this island?
Which vessel?
i have 113 days then im on my way
Ii there any shade for the kids?
There are shady places all around the island. But right on the beach, I know they have cabanas for rent, and I think you might can also rent some of those clam shells for shade.
I made a new video on my recent trip here

Sorry, no. HMC is nowhere NEAR the Turks & Caicos. T&C is much farther south, "a day at sea"'s distance away from HMC.
