I work for Carnival and I was on Pride on my 2nd contract (less than a month ago). I know Captain Alesandro Galotto. He's a very humble guy and always mingle around the crew area without companion (sometimes with his son). Bless him!
I will say that @Carnival is the Best. I was on the Valor, and we ran into a pretty rough storm. Our Captain was absolutely wonderful. And along with him and the crew, kept us knowledgeable in regards to safety in case of an emergency. As well as adjusting events to accommodate the storm so that we all could enjoy our cruise. I choose Carnival always.
i was on that cruise..i think i got seasick all over again watching the video. i know my friend and i watched waves at least 50 some foot high or swells..oh man i was glad to get home.
@Ibanezalk3 Agree. We were in an aft Vista Suite. It was like an express elevator going up and down. We struggled to get dressed and made it to the Lido mid ship. My first "notification" of the storm was being tossed out of bed at 4:30 am. Captain did a great job, however we could have been updated sooner and more often.
I threw up for the first time in years on that saturday.. Great video though, although I don't agree with your last comment at end of video.. Captain could have updated us a little bit sooner on the status of the storm, est time of arrival etc...
Thanks for posting this video AND for the kind words about the crew and staff. My daughter is a crew member and I heard all about this storm. This is the first time I saw video. And yes, Capt Alex is the BEST!!
I was on the Pride right after....left a day late, and instead of having 3 days in Bermuda, had less than 24 hrs. I had fun anyway. They did a remarkable job of repairing the ship from the damage of your sailing.
We are looking to cruise on The Pride in November. Storm aside, could you tell me if you liked the ship and it's ports, and would you do it again? Thanks for posting the great storm video and photos!
just got off a cruise yesterday...it was the norweigan jewel which is a smaller boat but one of the days we had 70mph winds and 15 foor waves...surprisingly was not that rough..got some cool pics of the water splashing wasnt as crazy as yours though
I worked for Carnival few years back and I was on this ship when the storm hit us. I honestly thought we were going down. I can't recall the exact moth but it was 2011 and the captain was Mr Vitto Giacolone from Italy (excuse my spelling if it's incorrect). The ship had to go on dry doc, it was horrible.
We hit a storm on the Pride too last year, going south and then again coming back up the coast! I guess this is why they say east coast cruises are the roughest lol. I was terribly sea sick for a day but I'm going back on the Pride again in May anyway lol.
I was on this cruise on this exact week. The crew workers were so nice even when they had to pull out extra shifts and activities for us to do. I heard that there was a hole in the taj mahal part of the ship. People who were on this ship should appreciate the fact that the captain got us through that storm safely. Things could of been worse and we could've ended up like the Costa Concordia. So people need to shut up and be happy that they're alive.
Wow the Serenity deck in full effect! We caught some rough weather aboard the Pride in September but nothing quite that intense. I bet the pizza was even falling of the racks inside LOL.
How late in the year do storms like this occur in the Atlantic? Ive thought about taking a cruise on the Carnival Pride sometime in December of 2012 or January of 2013 to get a break from the winter weather and hope I never get caught in this kind of weather.
I am on the Breeze in Jan also! I REALLY hope to have a rough day or two at sea also! To me, watching (and filming in HD) rough seas is better than ANY show on the ship!
cruises are great, im going on my 5th cruise this month. but let me tell you, the bigger the ship, the safer it is in rough weather, the small the ship, the more dangerous and the more you feel the big waves. on my first two cruises the ships i went on were small, so i kept throwing up.
So I'm going on cruise in february, if our ship happens to hit rough seas how scary is it??? (this is my first cruise I'm 14 and going with just my mom) are you safe???
Love it, great footage, finally some real storm and not lame stuff written up as disasters, the ocean takes you if it wants you, not so sure it's all fun and game, many ships suffer heavy weather damages and causes injuries to pople onboard, even if the ship will remain safe, being onboard isn't always safe as tings slide around and so could you do. Lovely, hope you still enjoyed the cruise! Is there any refunds in case of extremely bad weather?
we had similar seas on that same cruise except we went out 2 weeks before u.....i tell u what we went to go eat breakfast in the dinning room and there wasnt a soul in there....we had the whole dinning room to ourselves it was awesome!!
The Carnival Pride as are most of Carnival's ships, warm water ships and not made for the Atlantic like bigger ships, namely, the Queen Mary 2,etc which has a rounded bottom and holds the ocean quite well. The Pride has a flat bottom, hence a rougher ride. I've sailed the Queen Mary 2 and she is quite a wonderful and beautiful ship.
Great video! Yea, those Spirit ships are real tough ships. Just debarked Carnival Pride three weeks ago, poor ship's Azipod lost some power and top speed was 19 kts. We got an extra sea day out of it. I didn't mind. Carnival Pride was my destination. BTW you have a great utube. Name! Lol
Just got off a cruise leaving from San Juan on the Carnival Victory and we hit some waves. It was surprising since we were in the Caribbean but the first couple nightes i was in Club o2 and you could barley stand we were like falling over.
@Zantastic30 That's because it is the only time you get to feel you're on the sea... Otherwise its just an exaggerated floating hotel... I know a lot of people wont even look out the portholes...
Damn, some of this looked brutal. I was on the elation i believe last year at around this time of year, we had a small storm and got some whitecaps but it was nothing like this. I love storms when im on land but i dont know if i could take and intense one out on the sea.
@ontime2k I like it pitching up and down too.... I go next week and I hope the weather is great, but just enough rocking and pitching so I can sleep good... the more motion the better...
Right? It's cheaper, much cheaper in the Fall. The Atlantic is rough seas to begin with. June 1-Nov 1 is not the time to go for the best of weather. But I am sure they already knew this but it was about price. Go in the late Spring...it's amazing.
@watchinu66 3 days ago i was on the pride i did the behind the fun tour it takes u to the bridge and u meet the captain....he menshined this cruise he said it was 45 foot waves..... tht was deck 7 or 8 when he was in his cabin balconly but the first part was on deck 9 thts near the buffet
cruised last year for the first time on Triumph but in July weather was perfect was going to book a March cruise on magic but may wait till summer these seas are not for me at all! hope it wasn't like this for tall of your cruise.
I would feel more safe on a small vessel in a storm than on a cruise. These boats are just built higher, higher, higher but not deeper. So it`s only a question of time for the next schettino;)
@vividbeautifullife You are always safe. I did not find it scary, but only because I have been on 14 cruises. Just chill, and have a great time. You will have fun!
i am so happy that our cruise was nice and calm...think i'd freak out if it was that bad! not scared, just hate being sea sick and not being able to enjoy
if its ur kids first cruise i wouldn't choose a transatlantic......if its not and u want to go u want to go in the summer months north atlantic in the winter is INSANE!!......but again if its ur kids first cruise and u live in United states go on a Disney cruise if ur willing to pay more money then other cruises like Carnival or royal carribean...the disney cruises r awesome go on the newer ships the DIsney fantasy 7 week cruise or disney Dream 3 4 5 day cruise awesome food and cool stuff to do>
@Ibanezalk3 Well I was OK with him concentrating on navigating through the storm. It was obvious we were going to be late, and I think impossible to give a time until we were 'out' of the storm.
These vids are meant to show worst scenarios. Captain's are normally advised to avoid wetaher fronts, so you'll be fine. This is an extreme example. I bet you and your Mum have enjoyed every minute of your cruise by the time you read this.
like the aqua duck or the kid and teen hangouts......But if ur not willing to book disney (cause money or other things) then go with royal carribean great cruise line.....IF ur going transatlantic try to go on the cruise ship QM2 be WARNED THTS ONLY IF U DO NOT WANT TO FEEL THE BAD WHEATHER BECAUSE THE Queen MAry 2 IS AN OLD PERSON SHIP VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY BORING FOR SOME ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 45...i was on it 2 when i was 8&9 HOPE THT HELPS ENJOY THE CRUISE!!!
I work for Carnival and I was on Pride on my 2nd contract (less than a month ago). I know Captain Alesandro Galotto. He's a very humble guy and always mingle around the crew area without companion (sometimes with his son). Bless him!
Hello how are you
I will say that @Carnival is the Best. I was on the Valor, and we ran into a pretty rough storm. Our Captain was absolutely wonderful. I was there, I was a galley steward from Peru .. I'm Augusto the dance boy from Peru 🤟🏼🔥😁
This was my honeymoon! I basically spent the whole time in the shower. Still totally worth it! I loved this cruise!
I threw up for the first time in years on that saturday.. Great video though, although I don't agree with your last comment at end of video.. Captain could have updated us a little bit sooner on the status of the storm, est time of arrival etc...

I was on this cruise. In a balcony room on the 8th floor, I could barely walk to our bathroom.
I was on the cruise during the storm alsoooo. October 30 - November 5. It was quite an experience. But I won't be going on cruises any time soon.
OMG...I was on that cruise...and YES the crew was amazon and made us feel safe and stayed in communication at all times
We are looking to cruise on The Pride in November. Storm aside, could you tell me if you liked the ship and it's ports, and would you do it again? Thanks for posting the great storm video and photos!
We were on this cruise as well! I also posted some footage from the Lido deck. I can't wait to go on my next cruise, it was awesome!
just got off a cruise yesterday...it was the norweigan jewel which is a smaller boat but one of the days we had 70mph winds and 15 foor waves...surprisingly was not that rough..got some cool pics of the water splashing wasnt as crazy as yours though
Had a few days like this on transatlantic cruise, Crown Princess-2012 The ship's Master referred those days as "lumpy seas"(gotta love the Brits.)
Technically that isn’t as bad as the equivalent in the Caribbean
I worked for Carnival few years back and I was on this ship when the storm hit us. I honestly thought we were going down. I can't recall the exact moth but it was 2011 and the captain was Mr Vitto Giacolone from Italy (excuse my spelling if it's incorrect). The ship had to go on dry doc, it was horrible.
Thanks for sharing your video. You have a great attitude, and I hope your cruise up to this point was great.
im 22, and been on 10 cruises since I was a little kid. I been hooked and now I have to go at least once or twice a year...its not scary at all
We hit a storm on the Pride too last year, going south and then again coming back up the coast! I guess this is why they say east coast cruises are the roughest lol. I was terribly sea sick for a day but I'm going back on the Pride again in May anyway lol.

then again my dad is retired Navy and I have been on a ship in 19ft seas, that was a ride like no other...
Wow the Serenity deck in full effect! We caught some rough weather aboard the Pride in September but nothing quite that intense. I bet the pizza was even falling of the racks inside LOL.
I'm surprised they let anyone out on the deck. May 2005, we were on the Glory in a tropical storm and no one was allowed outside at all.
How late in the year do storms like this occur in the Atlantic? Ive thought about taking a cruise on the Carnival Pride sometime in December of 2012 or January of 2013 to get a break from the winter weather and hope I never get caught in this kind of weather.
Tropical Storm Sean... must have been a great time!
I am on the Breeze in Jan also! I REALLY hope to have a rough day or two at sea also! To me, watching (and filming in HD) rough seas is better than ANY show on the ship!

we were on the cruise right after this. it didn't set sail until almost midnight because of the late arrival, us customs, and some minor repairs.
Didn’t the ship have a fire in a kid camp
So I'm going on cruise in february, if our ship happens to hit rough seas how scary is it??? (this is my first cruise I'm 14 and going with just my mom) are you safe???

Fabulous video. Thanks so much for going to the trouble of videoing this under such stressful conditions.
How many feet high we these swells? We were on a cruise with 14 ft swells, and yours look huge compared to ours!
Great job of capturing the storm! Thanks for sharing.
we had similar seas on that same cruise except we went out 2 weeks before u.....i tell u what we went to go eat breakfast in the dinning room and there wasnt a soul in there....we had the whole dinning room to ourselves it was awesome!!
Awesome video!!!! Kind of wish I was on that cruise, lol! The ones I've been on have been pretty smooth out in the pacific ocean.
The Carnival Pride as are most of Carnival's ships, warm water ships and not made for the Atlantic like bigger ships, namely, the Queen Mary 2,etc which has a rounded bottom and holds the ocean quite well. The Pride has a flat bottom, hence a rougher ride. I've sailed the Queen Mary 2 and she is quite a wonderful and beautiful ship.
was this day 1-3 of your trip or day 7-8
I was on the pride and I didn't get any of that nice mist sensation
Great video! Yea, those Spirit ships are real tough ships. Just debarked Carnival Pride three weeks ago, poor ship's Azipod lost some power and top speed was 19 kts. We got an extra sea day out of it. I didn't mind. Carnival Pride was my destination. BTW you have a great utube. Name! Lol
Ocean swells
Being on a ship for a while; and she is rocky
Does that throw off your balance ?
Aww man I was that cruise the week before. I guess i missed all the fun. It did snow a little on the way back at least.
I was there at the time .... Employees of the shop ....
I dream for seas like that on a cruise!! I had rough seas during Hurricane Katrina on the Fascination but not that rough.
When the bridge windows of a cruise ship are getting wet from sea water, there's some big waves ahoy!
Is there something wrong with me that the storm was my favorite part of the cruise? :)
Just got off a cruise leaving from San Juan on the Carnival Victory and we hit some waves. It was surprising since we were in the Caribbean but the first couple nightes i was in Club o2 and you could barley stand we were like falling over.
Huge swells. And that was just in the swimming pool, never mind outside.
@Zantastic30 That's because it is the only time you get to feel you're on the sea... Otherwise its just an exaggerated floating hotel... I know a lot of people wont even look out the portholes...
We got on the carnival pride December 12 2012 and we went through a storm it did the same thing our cabin was on deck 4
Damn, some of this looked brutal. I was on the elation i believe last year at around this time of year, we had a small storm and got some whitecaps but it was nothing like this. I love storms when im on land but i dont know if i could take and intense one out on the sea.
Wow thats insane! I just got off a 7 day cruise on the carnival legend. Didn't seen anything like this thankfully, prolly would have flipped out lol.
@ontime2k I like it pitching up and down too.... I go next week and I hope the weather is great, but just enough rocking and pitching so I can sleep good... the more motion the better...
Omg that's definitely a goal for me! I love a bad weather during my cruises but I've never experienced anything like that. You're so lucky!
8264 I highly would call that luck you must not know how fast those things can and do sink!!
Was this a repositioning
Lucky you had all four engines working
Was the pride okay with that storm
Instant wave pool!
can't imagine how it would have been back in 1750, sailing through storms like these in wooden ships? Makes me terrified just thinking about it.
Right? It's cheaper, much cheaper in the Fall. The Atlantic is rough seas to begin with.
June 1-Nov 1 is not the time to go for the best of weather. But I am sure they already knew this but it was about price. Go in the late Spring...it's amazing.
I was there
How come you’re not making videos anymore
best rough weather video on youtube
@watchinu66 3 days ago i was on the pride i did the behind the fun tour it takes u to the bridge and u meet the captain....he menshined this cruise he said it was 45 foot waves..... tht was deck 7 or 8 when he was in his cabin balconly but the first part was on deck 9 thts near the buffet
cruised last year for the first time on Triumph but in July weather was perfect was going to book a March cruise on magic but may wait till summer these seas are not for me at all! hope it wasn't like this for tall of your cruise.
Amazing video and a reminder to always pack Bonine!
i was on inspiration with 14 ft swells plus 16 knt. traveling in an emergency sail with 50 kt winds to 60 kts
That's not bad you should see the bigger ones we get down in South Carolina.
An 88,000 ton ship being tossed around like a toy. Love it. Never f**k with mother nature. She's a bitch and will take you whenever she wants.
I would feel more safe on a small vessel in a storm than on a cruise. These boats are just built higher, higher, higher but not deeper. So it`s only a question of time for the next schettino;)
I feel queasy just looking at this. Gread vid. Just confirms exactly why I should remain
on terra firma!
awesome video. Thank you for sharing!!!
@vividbeautifullife
You are always safe. I did not find it scary, but only because I have been on 14 cruises. Just chill, and have a great time. You will have fun!
That looks exactly like the carnival miracle video I just wathced
i really enjoi that day because after that be had a overnight in baltimor :3 !!1
Wow! Even the swimming pool has waves!
I woulda loved to hop in that hammock and ride out the weather for a bit, let it just sway me to sleep some with the wind in my face:)
Thats what they all say.
Give it about 10 min and you will be filling sick.
Joshua Ebanks weve been in that sorta thing before. Waves from the pool were touching the second floor. Celebrity Century on the way to Alaska.
Try sleeping on a cruise when you're being thrown about ..... Meh
I can't remember why I wrote my comment but that sounds cool have fun!
I went on a cruise this summer and just a little rocking made me feel sick...on this ship I would be barfing like there's no tomorrow lol
last friday night on the carnival pride we hit a bad storm, very rough. but still very fun ride to me.
Awesome vid! Awesome cruise line
@MrWill1985
Bad storms are more likely to happen during hurricane season. December and January should be OK, but cool leaving Baltimore.
when i was on Carnival Victory we had a night were they had to close one of the areas off due to the wind and the pool doing the same thing
i am so happy that our cruise was nice and calm...think i'd freak out if it was that bad! not scared, just hate being sea sick and not being able to enjoy
I'm so glad we had a great time in Nov-2012. No storm at all.
im glad u didnt lose ur camera!
Were you taking a trans-atlantic cruise?
+Christine Banich
No. Bahamas to Baltimore
Christine Banich it was from Maryland to Florida to the Bcc Bahamas. 1 week. It was only like this for 2 days max
my first cruise was on the pride you dont feel it you see it... Im going on my 2nd in August on the Dream
i went on the carnival splendor we also hit a storm and had that same problem but they blocked off the pool
I hear in the most part cruises are fun and I cant wait to go on one.
Where was this ship headed?
bottom of the ocean for these?
@CaptainObvious Stop it!!!! You're killing me!!!! Lmao
Great video!!!!!
wow those are some big waves !
if its ur kids first cruise i wouldn't choose a transatlantic......if its not and u want to go u want to go in the summer months north atlantic in the winter is INSANE!!......but again if its ur kids first cruise and u live in United states go on a Disney cruise if ur willing to pay more money then other cruises like Carnival or royal carribean...the disney cruises r awesome go on the newer ships the DIsney fantasy 7 week cruise or disney Dream 3 4 5 day cruise awesome food and cool stuff to do>
Carnival ships do NOT handle storms well. The pools are too close to everyone and it tumbles and turns.
@Ibanezalk3
Well I was OK with him concentrating on navigating through the storm. It was obvious we were going to be late, and I think impossible to give a time until we were 'out' of the storm.
Wow, looks scary. Thanks for sharing your video.
When the ship looked like it was tilting OMG I would of been so scared I would of been freaking out lol
These vids are meant to show worst scenarios. Captain's are normally advised to avoid wetaher fronts, so you'll be fine. This is an extreme example. I bet you and your Mum have enjoyed every minute of your cruise by the time you read this.
like the aqua duck or the kid and teen hangouts......But if ur not willing to book disney (cause money or other things) then go with royal carribean great cruise line.....IF ur going transatlantic try to go on the cruise ship QM2 be WARNED THTS ONLY IF U DO NOT WANT TO FEEL THE BAD WHEATHER BECAUSE THE Queen MAry 2 IS AN OLD PERSON SHIP VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY BORING FOR SOME ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 45...i was on it 2 when i was 8&9
HOPE THT HELPS ENJOY THE CRUISE!!!
Haizz seems like whats in ads doesnt always stay true
Great job filming! I posted a similar video on my channel but the weather was not early as bad as your sailing!
did you sleep good haha
